Kim Kardashian freezes FB, Insta accounts in hate speech protest

Kim Kardashian West along with several other celebrities announced on Tuesday that they are “freezing” their Facebook and Instagram accounts for one day to protest the spread of hate speech and misinformation on these platforms. The protest, a part of the Stop Hate for Profit campaign will be held on Wednesday.

The protest gained widespread attention with a tweet from Kim Kardashian, who has one of the largest followings on Instagram. She tweeted saying she could not ‘sit by and stay silent while these platforms continue to allow the spreading of hate, propaganda and misinformation’.
