The cameras on the back of the Moto G8 Power Lite are in a triple sensor array, with a 16MP primary sensor, 2MP depth sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. That’s better than most of its competition, and it’s a respectably strong performer. In good lighting conditions, it takes sharp pictures with good colours that belie its price point. In lower lighting conditions, there’s noticeable grain and a lack of sharpness. The macro sensor is alright too, and even though you can’t get super close to subjects, the results are decent. However, it’s evident that the main wide sensor is the star of the show.
The selfie camera is an 8MP sensor, which takes clear selfies, but struggles with edge detection for portrait shots. It’s expected though, with this being a single sensor setup and AI doing most of the heavy lifting.
On the plus side, Motorola has done well to include all these modes in their budget offering, and it makes the phone a more well-rounded product. Plus, the 64GB of onboard storage means you can take a whole lot of pictures without having to worry about running out of space. However, if you feel the need for extra space, then the storage is expandable up to 256GB through microSD card.
