'People who say abba jaan...': UP CM Adityanath's poll roar, Omar hits back

Ahead of Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections in 2022, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday targeted his predecessor and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

Without naming anyone, the monk-politician said ‘before 2017 only those saying 'Abba Jaan' were enjoying ration.

Hitting out at the opposition, the Chief Minister said there is no place for appeasement politics under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership.

'Abba Jaan' is a term used to address fathers by mostly Muslims.

Yogi's remark drew sharp reaction from a section of social media users and opposition politicians.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah slammed the saffron leader in a tweet.

The National Conference leader, who served as a minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee cabinet wrote "...the BJP has no intention of fighting any election with an agenda other than blatant communalism & hatred with all the venom directed towards Muslims."
