Rajnath to meet Chinese defence minister amid tensions

Amid tensions on the border, defence minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet his Chinese counterpart today in Moscow. The meeting has been arranged by both side on the sidelines of the Shangai Cooperation Organisation summit. This is the first major political contact between India and China since the deadly Galwan clash in June that kille 20 Indian and an unspecified number of Chinese soldiers. After this meeting, external affairs minister S Jaishankar is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow on September 10.
