Rajya Sabha monsoon session ends, cut short due to pandemic

After chaotic scenes that resulted in the passage of three contentious farm bills, Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine dine on Wednesday. The monsoon session of the Parliament, was scheduled to go on till October 1, but was cut short in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
The current Monsoon Session was scheduled to have 18 sittings without a break from September 14 till October 1. The attendance also remained low throughout and now with the session cut short, the 252nd session of the Rajya Sabha has become the third shortest in terms of total sittings since the Upper House came into existence in 1952.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties, that boycotted Rajya Sabha session, have called a meeting at the office of Leader of Opposition in the House, Ghulam Nabi Azad, to discuss further strategy on the farm bills passed in Parliament.
