Teacher's Day 2021: When desks get piled up with greeting cards instead of notebooks and students indulge in special activities and performances, it's a sign that it must be Teacher's Day!

First observed in 1962, Teacher's Day is celebrated on 5th September in India. The day marks the birth anniversary of the second President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Born in 1888, he is a renowned Academic and a Bharat Ratna recipient.

Teachers' Day has a special meaning this year, given the difficulties teachers and students have endured during the COVID-19 situation, over the last year and a half. With schools being shut and classroom teaching becoming a thing of the past, teaching had to be undertaken remotely and virtually through digital platforms.

Teachers have been quick at learning how to operate said digital platforms - an arena that was new and unfamiliar for many. From Whatsapp calls to Zoom sessions, teachers have ensured that the learning never stops, no matter what the crisis.
