Twitter & FB freeze Donald Trump accounts, YouTube removes video

In an unprecedented step, Twitter and Facebook blocked the accounts of US President Donald Trump on Wednesday after he repeatedly posted false accusations about the election after his supporters stormed the Capitol following a Trump rally.

Twitter said that future violations by Trump would result in a permanent suspension. Twitter locked Trump’s account for 12 hours and said that if the tweets are not removed, the account would remain locked, meaning the president would be unable to tweet from @realDonaldTrump.

Facebook later tweeted it would block Trump’s page from posting for 24 hours due to two policy violations. Earlier in the day, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube all removed a short video from Trump after the Capitol violence.
