Ahead of the release of his next film 'Killbill Society', director Srijit Mukherji said he hopes the movie motivates people to fight depression and ward off suicidal instincts.
The National Award-winning filmmaker, who has dwelt on a wide range of subjects in his projects and explored different formats, said he got the idea of 'Killbill Society' from an incident involving celebrated Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie's life, when she had hired a hitman to kill herself at the age of 19.
Mukherji said the film is a sequel to his 2012 hit &lsquo;Hemlock Society&rsquo;.
"We had always planned to have a sequel, but waited for the right storyline. Then, we came across this real-life incident involving Angelina Jolie's life. She wanted it to look like a shootout for her family, as she could not die by suicide. But, the contract killer asked her to think over the plan and she eventually changed her mind,&rdquo; Mukherji told PTI.
&ldquo;If we had imagined a narrative along this line on our own, we would have been blamed of having been struck by a quirky concept. Since it was a real-life incident involving a megastar's life at an early stage, there is the element of believability in the plot," he said.
Actor-director Parambrata Chatterjee is in the lead role in 'Killbill Society', which releases in theatres on April 11.

According to some, Salman Khan should either quit or take a few months or years off before working with the right director and script once more to produce movies like "Dabangg" or "Bajrangi Bhaijaan."

But, where is your gigantic enthusiasm, Mr Khan? That clearly fell short in the recent movies!&nbsp;
Salman Khan appears to have transitioned from an actor to a hero to a megastar, according to those who have followed him closely over the years. He probably feels that the portrayal of "Bhaijaan" (On and off screen, in every true sense ) is far more significant than any other role he is playing! Some of his most recent films, Radhe, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Sikandar, demonstrate just how true this is!&nbsp;
One aspect of these films is that his character somehow makes an appearance in every scene. Even if he isn't present in a particular scene, the other characters seem to have compelled to maintain his presence through their gestures and dialogue delivaries! The fact that the other actors seem to be competing with one another in every scene to win over "Bhaijaan" is a more serious and dangerous worry, albeit!&nbsp;
Stars and megastars have always had an impact on mainstream Hindi cinema. Even though the main reason people go to the movies is to see their favorite celebrities, it is indisputable that the star's importance frequently outweighs that of the character they play. But, the question remains. To what extent, though? To the stretch that the celebrity himself is unable to control his own image?
In December 2025, Salman Khan will celebrate his 60th birthday. Everyone is aware that aging will show on his face in films, and no amount of technical skill can conceal that. The fact that Salman Khan has never been touted as one of Bollywood's best actors may also be easy to accept.
But in spite of all of this, he has a remarkable on-screen persona and a special way of captivating audiences with his dancing or dialogue delivery (his iconic sunglasses-wearing in "Dabangg" or his unorthodox moves in "Munni Badnam Hui"), leading even his most ardent detractors to applaud!
Are those days really over? The fans' favorite "Bhaijaan" and Bollywood's cherished "Prem" seem to have become only a shadow of his former selves. Is he able to return? Salman Khan's past inspires hope that he will return! But without a fundamental shift (as much as possible for 'Bhaijaan'! At least if he understands that things can't go on like this, &nbsp;that something has to change and that what is happening cannot continue, then there&rsquo;s a chance!) Salman Khan's battle will be extremely difficult in the absence of strong scripts and direction. It will be interesting to see how well he manages to overcome these challenges despite having some real turbulances in his personal life, too. &nbsp;
The good news is that the movie "Andaaz Apna Apna," which was first released thirty years ago, will be re-released on April 25. Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's comedy classic has already earned the title of "cult film."
Given that thirty years ago Salman Khan wasn't "Bhaijaan" and lacked that swagger, I am not sure how much the current bunch of fans of "Bhaijaan" will enjoy watching the modest Salman Khan dance to "Yeh Raat Aur Ye Doori" with those hopeful, dreamy eyes from the 1990s. Yet, it's safe to say that many people who long for the era of 1990s will become a little more nostalgic and fall in love with the lead character in "Maine Pyar Kiya" after seeing "Andaaz Apna Apna" on the big screen once again.

While promoting his upcoming film Ground Zero, Emraan shared that he was aware of the controversy surrounding Allahbadia during the India's Got Latent episode. Ranveer had faced criticism after making a joke about parental sex on the show hosted by Samay Raina. Addressing it, Ranveer said, "I don't know if you're familiar with what happened in my life in the last 2-3 months." To this, Emraan replied, "Everyone knows it."
Speaking from his own experience, Emraan said, "When your chips are down, you really find out who your true friends are. Everyone else quietly slips away. And then you&rsquo;re left with the people who truly matter. They are the ones who support you when you&rsquo;re down. Those are your real friends."
He also highlighted the superficial nature of relationships in the film industry, noting how the term 'friend' is often misused. "The people you party with, who come into your life just to get something from you&mdash;those are need-based relationships, not real friendships. That&rsquo;s also part of the glamour," he said.
Reflecting on his own low point in the industry, Emraan spoke about the phase when some of his films failed to perform at the box office. "I&rsquo;ve been fortunate to ride a successful wave in my career. But around 2018&ndash;2019, when a few of my films didn&rsquo;t work at the box office - that was probably the lowest point for me. Cheat India and The Body, for instance. I&rsquo;ve seen how the industry serenades you during your high points. At one point, I couldn&rsquo;t even stand in my living room - it was filled with flowers and gifts on my birthday. But when the tables turn after just one Friday, all of that stops."
He went on to reflect on how fame can distort perceptions of love and loyalty. "You become a commodity. You start confusing that attention with love. But the truth is - they don&rsquo;t actually love you. You&rsquo;re just a means to their end. You are merely a return on the investment they make."
Emraan Hashmi is currently preparing for the release of Ground Zero, directed by Tejas Vijay Deoskar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment. Set against the backdrop of conflict-torn Kashmir, the film is slated to hit theatres on April 25.
