During the first four phases of the 2024 general elections, there was an increase in voter turnout compared to the 2019 elections.

As per Election Commission data, 2024 general elections saw a notable increase in voter turnout with 45.1 crore voters compared to 42.6 crore in 2019, indicating a rise of 2.5 crore voters. Female voters increased by 93.6 lakh, surpassing male voters' rise.

The rise in female voter participation suggests a shifting dynamic in Indian politics, where women are increasingly becoming a critical demographic.

What are the key issues driving higher voter turnout among women in the 2024 elections?

How will the increase in female voter participation influence election results?

And most importantly do women voters hold key to Narendra Modi’s third term or will it be advantage INDIA bloc?

Watch editorji’s Vikram Chandra in conversation with senior journalist Nalini Singh and Ranjana Kumari, Director, Centre for Social Research on The India Story: Road to 2024.
