CES: Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED boasts glasses-free 3D technology

Asus has announced the brand new ProArt Studiobook 16 3D OLED laptop at CES 2023, which brings glasses-free 3D to this creator workstation. Using what the company calls Spatial Vision technology, this is the world's first glasses-free autostereoscopic 3D OLED panel - with a 3.2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, a 16:10 aspect ratio, and a 180-degree hinge.

The 3D technology on the ProArt Studiobook 16 3D works by using a combination of advanced eye-tracking and a lenticular lens to create distinct images for each eye. The lenticular lens splits the display's image into two separate images, one for each eye, and the eye-tracking technology follows the movement of the viewer's eyes to ensure that each eye is seeing the correct image. This creates an image that appears to pop off the display and gives the impression of 3D depth without the need for glasses.

The 3D OLED panel is geared towards metaverse app developers, 3D modellers, and content creators. The ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED is powered by a 13th Gen Intel Core i9 processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, up to 64GB DDR5 RAM, and 8TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage.

It also has a stylus-compatible haptic touchpad, a full-size chiclet keyboard with a number pad, and the Asus Dial for precise control in certain apps. It comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a full-size SD card slot for transferring large files.

Asus says hat the 3D OLED display can be swapped for a 2D OLED touchscreen with the same resolution and refresh rate. The company plans to release an updated version of its ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED laptop, featuring a pro-certified Nvidia RTX laptop GPU, in the second quarter of 2023.
