The 2nd seed and world number 3 beat 5th seed Alexander Zverev&nbsp;in a marathon that lasted over 4 hours to win 2-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6. This is for the first time in the US Open that a player has won the final after losing the opening two sets and also the first slam final which was decided by a tie-breaker in the 5th and final set. Interestingly,&nbsp;Thiem is the first Grand Slam champion apart from Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka&nbsp;to win since&nbsp;the 2016 US Open.&nbsp;

After becoming the 1st Indian man in 7 years to win a match at a Grand Slam, Sumit&nbsp;Nagal&nbsp;made an exit from the US Open as he lost to Austrian Dominic Thiem. World number 3 &amp; 2nd seed dismissed India's top-ranked singles player in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 as the match was over in just less than 2 hours. Thiem&nbsp;hardly broke&nbsp;a sweat in the match as he next plays Spain's&nbsp;Jaume Munar&nbsp;in the 3rd round.
