Technically Speaking, What Does the Future of TV News Behold? With Vikram Chandra (Part 1)

Television news is becoming more polarized than ever, and what used to be 9PM news updates have turned into shouting matches where either you love your country or you're anti-national.
While on the surface, it seems like anchors are pushing out their own agendas, is there a deeper reason as to why they choose to present news in a certain manner? Does the business model of television news have something to do with it? And what does the future look like for aspiring journalists?
In conversation with Chirag Chinnappa, Vikram Chandra, Founder of Editorji and former TV-anchor, breaks down these questions and gives us a glimpse of the realities behind the camera.

Metro resumes operations after 169-days hiatus

After being closed for over five months due to the COVID-19 pandemic,&nbsp;metro services are all set to resume across the country on Monday. Wearing masks will be mandatory for all passengers and thermal screening will be done at all entry points. The train won&rsquo;t stop at stations that fall in the containment zones. Officials also have the liberty of not allowing the metro to stop at all stations to avoid overcrowding. &nbsp;There will be alternate seating in the metro compartments.
The Delhi Metro services will be resumed in a staggered manner in three stages from September 7-12, with the Yellow Line connecting Samyapur Bali in Delhi to HUDA City Centre in Gurgaon and the Rapid Metro being the first ones to be made operational on September 7. Trains will operate from 7-11 am in the morning and 4-8 pm in the evening in the first stage. The Delhi Metro has taken a slew of measures to ensure least physical contact for riders when it resumes services, like an automated thermal screening-cum-sanitiser dispenser and lift calling system driven by a foot pedal. Only smart card or QR code users will be allowed to travel on the Delhi Metro.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation has announced that commuters found travelling without face masks in the Noida-Greater Noida metro rail network will have to pay a fine of Rs 500 and those caught spitting will have to cough up Rs 100.
Lucknow Metro&nbsp;has decided to use UV technology to sanitise tokens for passenger safety. All stations also have AFC gates which automatically detect the metro smart card without tapping it.
In Bengaluru, the Namma Metro will operate between 8-11 am and 4:30-7:30 pm from September 7 to 10 and from September 11 it will operate from 7am to 9pm. Usage of token will not be permitted.
Metro services however will not resume in Maharashtra which is the worst-affected state by the novel coronavirus.

After a 169-day&nbsp;coronavirus-induced hiatus, Metro services resumed across the country on Monday morning&nbsp;amid a record-breaking daily surge in the infections.
Masks, thermal screening, alternate seating, no halt at the stations in containment zones, and the power to not stop at crowded stations are some of the common steps that will be followed at the Metro systems in many cities. While announcing a common Standard Operating Procedure, the Centre had allowed for more localized steps to fight the pandemic.
 In the national capital, the Delhi Metro will resume in a staggered manner in three stages with the Yellow Line starting from 7-11 am and 4-8 pm in the first stage.
If you wish to travel to Gurugram, you can find a tube from Samyapur Badli in Delhi. You will find sanitizers and lifts operated with foot pedals at stations. Forget using the Metro if you don&rsquo;t have a smart card or QR code.
If you are commuting in a Nodia Metro, be ready to pay a Rs 500 fine for not wearing a mask and a Rs 100 fine for spitting.&nbsp;
You are good to hop on to a Metro in Lucknow with a token, which will be sanitized using UV technology. If that Metro card is in your wallet, just walk into any station, the AFC gates will automatically detect it.
