The clarification followed reports from news agency ANI, which quoted unnamed sources claiming that AAP and Congress were in advanced talks for a pre-poll alliance in Delhi. The report suggested that Congress would contest 15 seats, with the remaining seats divided among AAP and other members of the INDIA alliance.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Wednesday gave a call for a nationwide collective fast on April 7 at Jantar Mantar against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, party leader Gopal Rai said on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, Rai, who is also the Delhi state convener of AAP, said the party has decided that on April 7, a nationwide collective fast will be observed to garner maximum support fm the public for Kejriwal's fight.
"Those who are against the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal, who want to save the country's democracy, and stop injustice and dictatorship, are urged to observe collective fasts in their homes, villages, neighbourhoods, block headquarters, tehsils, districts, and state capitals," he said.
On April 7, a collective fast will be observed at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where all Delhi ministers, MLAs, MPs, councillors, officials, and workers of Delhi will participate.
Rai also urged people to either collectively pray or listen to the devotional song "Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram" on YouTube.
"You can sing it collectively. Together, we will pray for Kejriwal to receive strength and fight against tyranny while he is in jail. We can fight to bring the truth to light," he added.
Rai, who is also a minister in Delhi cabinet, asked people to send pictures to the website kejriwalkoaashirvaad.com.
"This fight is not Kejriwal's personal battle. His fight is to save the country and its democracy from dictatorship, oppression, and excesses," he added.
Kejriwal was arrested last month by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy-linked money laundering case. He has been sent to judicial custody till April 15.

"Arvind Kejriwal ji is a severe diabetic. Despite health issues, he remained engaged 24 hours a day in the service of the country. Since his arrest, Kejriwal's weight has decreased by 4.5 kg. This is very worrying. The BJP is putting his health at risk by putting him in jail," she alleged in a post on X in Hindi.
If something happens to Arvind Kejriwal, not just the whole country, even God will not forgive them, she added.

Rajendra Singh, a 52-year-old doctor, had died by suicide in Durga Vihar on April 18, 2020.
The judge held Jarwal, who represents Deoli assembly constituency, guilty, saying the prosecution had proved the case against him beyond reasonable doubt.
The judge will hear arguments on the quantum of sentence on March 13.
In his suicide note, the doctor had accused Jarwal of driving him to end his life. Police had registered a case of alleged extortion and abetment to suicide against Jarwal on the basis of the note.

After the BJP swept the January 30 Chandigarh mayoral polls, the AAP had accused Returning Officer Anil Masih of &ldquo;fraud and forgery&rdquo; in the election process and had approached the Supreme Court demanding fresh polls.&nbsp;
A video showing Anil Masih marking the ballot papers while peeping at the CCTV went viral on social media just after the polls. During the hearing of the petition, the SC summoned Anil Masih to physically appear before the bench and it also questioned him about the viral video.
Replying the same, Masih said that he marked the ballot papers so that ballot they did not get mixed.&nbsp;
To this, the bench said, "That means you marked it. He has to be prosecuted. In an electoral democracy, this cannot be allowed."
Lead by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, the bench said, "We are inclined to direct a recount of votes including these eight votes as valid."

Security has been stepped-up in Central Delhi with the deployment of additional personnel in view of demonstrations by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the BJP on Friday, police said.
While the AAP will stage a protest outside the BJP headquarters over alleged cheating in the Chandigarh mayoral polls, the BJP has said its members will protest near the AAP head office against the "corruption" of the Arvind Kejriwal government.

A senior police officer said that appropriate arrangements have been made. "Adequate security arrangements have been made in view of the protests. Additional personnel have been deployed. No one will be allowed to break the law," the officer said.

Punjab AAP MLA Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra was on Monday arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged bank fraud, official sources said.
The legislator was taken into custody under provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) after he was detained by agency officials from a public meeting he was holding in Malerkotla, they said.
The sources alleged that Gajjan Majra had skipped multiple summons issued to him in the past and hence, was detained and then arrested after questioning.
The Aam Aadmi Party's Punjab spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang charged that the way Gajjan Majra was picked up from a public meeting by the ED shows the BJP's politics of defaming the party.

In May last year, the CBI conducted raids on premises linked to Gajjan Majra in connection with an alleged bank fraud of Rs 40 crore.
In September 2022, the ED conducted raids on several premises linked to him as part of a money laundering probe linked to the alleged bank loan fraud.
The ED team had seized Rs 32 lakh cash, some mobile phones and hard drives during the raids.

In a major boost for the Aam Aadmi Party, the Supreme Court on May 11, 2023, ruled that the Delhi government has control over the posting and transfer of officers.
A 5-judge constitution bench of the top court said that the Delhi government, and not the Lieutenant Governor, has legislative and executive powers over administrative services.
It refused to agree with the 2019 judgement of Justice Ashok Bhushan that the city government has no power over the issue of services.
The bench, which also comprised Justices M R Shah, Krishna Murari, Hima Kohli and P S Narasimha, said democracy and federal structure are part of the basic structure of the Constitution.
The constitution bench was set up to hear the legal issue concerning the scope of legislative and executive powers of the Centre and the National Capital Territory government over control of services in Delhi.&nbsp;
