We demand that action be taken in that case too," he said.
The Diamond Harbour MP asked his party leaders to file a case against Suvendu Adhikari for hurting the sentiments of the Scheduled Tribe community in the state. The TMC appears to have taken a leaf out of the BJP's book, by basing its pitch on the "Bengal model of development". Here's that the TMC is promising in Tripura, to make the most in the 28 seats where it is contesting.
The TMC is saying that it would create 2 lakh new jobs in 5 years, with 50,000 of these in the first year itself. It would give ₹1,000 every month to 1 lakh jobless youth, and also to the 10,000 sacked teachers unless the matter reaches a legal resolution.
To woo the tribal vote, the TMC has promised an additional secretariat in north Tripura for tribal council work.
A main feature of the party manifesto is introduction of schemes already implemented in Bengal. Farmers in Tripura would get ₹10,000 every year. Poor families would get ₹2,000 as funeral assistance. Female heads of households would get income support. ₹25,000 would be given to impoverished families at the time of daughters' weddings.
On the education front, the TMC has promised a ₹1,000 annual scholarship for SC/ST students in classes 4 to 8. The party said it would set up a skill university, and issue student credit cards for easy education loans. Students would also be given bicycles.
Startup incubators would be set up in all 8 districts of the state.

The agency will continue to record the statement of Banerjee (34) in the case lodged under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they added.

That was the second time he was questioned in the case. He was first grilled by ED officials in September last year.
Banerjee's role and links with the other accused in the case are being investigated, ED officials had said.
While leaving the ED office on Monday, the TMC leader told reporters that he was a "law-abiding citizen" and hence, had "cooperated" in the investigation.
He alleged that probe agencies such as the ED, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax department are being used by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to "scare the opposition and its political personalities".
The last ED summons against Banerjee and his wife Rujira was issued after the Delhi High Court, on March 11, dismissed a plea moved by the couple, challenging the notices asking them to appear before the agency in Delhi instead of Kolkata.
Banerjee also filed a special leave petition (SLP) before the Supreme Court on Monday, challenging the ED summonses asking him to appear before the agency in Delhi.
The ED lodged the case on the basis of a November 2020 FIR registered by the CBI that alleged a multi-crore-rupee coal pilferage scam related to Eastern Coalfields Limited mines in West Bengal's Kunustoria and Kajora areas in and around Asansol.
Local coal operator Anup Majhi alias Lala is the prime suspect in the case.
The ED had claimed that Banerjee was a beneficiary of the funds obtained from this illegal trade.
The agency has so far made two arrests in the case. One of the arrested accused is Vikas Mishra, the brother of TMC's youth wing leader Vinay Mishra who is stated to have left the country and renounced his Indian citizenship.
The second arrested accused is former inspector in-charge of the Bankura police station Ashok Kumar Mishra.

"After Mamata Banerjee was re-elected as the chairperson of the party, she had announced a small committee to look after party affairs. Today there was a meeting of that committee, and in that meeting, she has announced the new national working committee of the party," Chatterjee said.

People in India are in "extreme pain" and the economy is still below the 2019 levels, Nobel laureate economist Abhijit Banerjee said on Saturday.
He was virtually addressing students of Ahmedabad University during the varsity's 11th annual convocation which was also held online.
Sharing his observations from a recent visit to West Bengal, Banerjee, speaking from the US, said "small aspirations" of people have become even smaller now.
"You (students) are in a place where you can give back. Society really needs it. We are in a time of extreme pain in India.
"I just spent some time in rural West Bengal and stories you hear about, you know, all the aspirations that have been a little bit dashed are very real....small aspirations which became smaller now," he said.
"I think that we are in a moment of great pain. The economy is still well below as against what it was in 2019," Banerjee said.
"We don't know how much below, but it is substantially below. And I am not blaming anybody, I am just saying," said the economist who won the Nobel Prize along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer in 2019.
He also urged the students not to succumb to pressure from family or society in choosing their career paths, but have the "courage" to do what they really want to do in life.
He also informed the audience that he had spent 10 days in Tihar jail during his student days at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
"When I was about to leave JNU and go to Harvard, I was in a student demonstration and then I was taken to Tihar jail, and kept there for ten days. When I came out, lots of elders told me that I have ruined my career, and Harvard or the US will never let you in. They thought I should be regretful," he said.
To make his point about choosing careers, Banerjee pointed out that two of India's great film-makers - Satyajit Ray and Shyam Benegal - were economics graduates but chose to walk a different path.

"You (students) are in a place where you can give back. Society really needs it. We are in a time of extreme pain in India.
"I just spent some time in rural West Bengal and stories you hear about, you know, all the aspirations that have been a little bit dashed are very real....small aspirations which became smaller now," he said.
"I think that we are in a moment of great pain. The economy is still well below as against what it was in 2019," Banerjee said.
"We don't know how much below, but it is substantially below. And I am not blaming anybody, I am just saying," said the economist who won the Nobel Prize along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer in 2019.

"When I was about to leave JNU and go to Harvard, I was in a student demonstration and then I was taken to Tihar jail, and kept there for ten days. When I came out, lots of elders told me that I have ruined my career, and Harvard or the US will never let you in. They thought I should be regretful," he said.

A huge crowd of TMC supporters gathered outside the CBI office on Monday following the arrest of top party leaders in the Narada scam. TMC supporters pelted stones while protesting outside CBI office in Kolkata over the arrests of party heavyweights Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee and MLA Madan Mitra.
The main gate of the CBI office in Kolkata has been closed over the massive protests. Security forces carried out baton charges against TMC protesters outside the CBI office.
TMC has written to the Kolkata police commissioner and accused CBI of working at the behest of BJP and Bengal governor. Mamata&rsquo;s nephew and TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee urged everyone to abide by the law and refrain from violating lockdown norms and said the battle will be fought legally&lsquo;

A team of the CBI reached TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee's residence on Tuesday and questioned his wife Rujira Banerjee in connection with the alleged coal smuggling case.

A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reached Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee's residence on Tuesday and questioned his wife Rujira Banerjee in connection with the alleged coal smuggling case. &nbsp;Rujira was summoned by the CBI in connection with the coal smuggling case. She had earlier said she was unaware of why was being questioned. She however agreed to meet the CBI at her residence between 11 am and 3 pm today. Abhishek Banerjee&rsquo;s aunt and Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee visited the former&rsquo;s residence minutes before the CBI team landed there.
