The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is known for its questionable moves over the years but this one will surely blow your mind. The AIFF reportedly employed an astrology agency for the National team during the recently concluded AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
According to a PTI report, the Indian football governing body splurged Rs 16 lakh on an astrology agency to take care of the Sunil Chhetri-led side, which made it to the 24-team AFC Asian Cup Final, topping their group in Qualifiers.

Reacting to the incident, India's former goalkeeper Tanumoy Bose said that the Committee of Administrators (CoA) must go deep into this appalling incident and find out who all are responsible for it.
Notably, the Supreme Court appointed a three-member CoA to manage the affairs of AIFF, ending Praful Patel's long reign in Indian football. Over the years there have been plenty of incidents of mismanagement of funds by the national football body but none appeared as strange as this.

India has defeated Hong Kong 4-0 in their final Group D match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers third round at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday. The Blue Tigers have now qualified to play in AFC Asian Cup 2023.
Anwar Ali opened the scoring in just the 2nd minute of the game. Sunil Chhetri, who has been looking in an excellent form netted in added time after the first 45 minutes to give the Blue Tigers a two-goal lead. Manvir Singh and Ishan Pandita's late goals sealed the game for India. However, Hong Kong looked clueless as they failed to convert their strikes into goals.

India remained undefeated in Group D having won against Cambodia in the first match 2-0 and thrashing Afghanistan 2-1 in the second. With 9 points from 3 matches, India also topped the group points table.
After scoring a goal in this match, Chhetri levelled the goal tally of Hungary's Ferenc Puskas who has 84 international goals. Meanwhile, the 3rd highest active goal scorer Chhetri is now only 2 goals behind Lionel Messi (86 goals).
India had already qualified for the AFC Asian Cup even before this match started and this was only the first time the Blue Tigers qualified for the Asian tournament in two successive editions. India have qualified for the AFC Asian Cups in 2019, 2011, 1984, 1964 and now 2023.

In a nail-biting football match, India beat Afghanistan 2-1 at Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata in their 2nd AFC Asian Cup qualifiers group match.
India captain Sunil Chhetri scored the opener for the hosts in the 86th minute of the game. The visitors equalised just 3 minutes later in the 88th minute with the help of Zabayr Amiri's goal. However, Sahal Abdul Samad finished the game with a brilliant goal in extra time.
