Amazon has reduced the price of its Prime Lite membership. The e-commerce giant launched Prime Lite in June for a price of Rs 999 a year. Now it has been cut to Rs 799, as per Prime support page.
<h3>Changes in Prime Lite Membership</h3>
Amazon has also made some changes on the benefits received via Prime Lite membership. The plan earlier used to offer free-two day delivery. Now the plan includes one-day delivery, two-day delivery, scheduled-delivery and same day delivery.

The membership now supports only one device instead of two. Meanwhile Prime Music subscription is still unavailable while the videos are limited to only HD quality. Other benefits such as morning delivery at Rs 175 per item, no-cost EMI, and 6-month free screen replacement still remain.
Even with the changes made to Prime Lite membership, the price and the benefits in Amazon Prime are still the same. Prime membership still costs Rs 299 for 1 month, Rs 599 for 3 months and Rs 1,499 yearly.
Unlike Prime, the Prime Lite membership do not have one-day delivery, discounted morning delivery at Rs 50 per item, unlimited Prime Video device support and 4K resolution support

The Covid-19 pandemic was a game-changer for the &nbsp;OTT platforms, which saw viewership skyrocketing.&nbsp; However, as the Covid situation abated, paid subscriptions for OTT platforms has plateaued.&nbsp;
According to reports by Livemint, besides penetration of OTTs among the urban elite has reached a saturation point and the platforms are yet to devise a strategy to woo the lower-end of the target audience in a significant way.&nbsp;
The churn has also increased with consumers frequently activating and deactivating subscriptions. At the peak of the covid pandemic, platforms had seen over 100% rise in subscription numbers. With most subscribers opting for annual payment plans, month-on-month growth has slowed, said Vibhu Agarwal, founder of OTT app Atrangii. Most of the OTT players have been able to gain initial traction from India&rsquo;s largest cities, where the per capita income is much higher than that in smaller cities or rural areas. Therefore, substantially increasing the paid user base could prove to be a challenge in India.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to Amazon Prime Video's India head Aparna Purohit in FIRs lodged over the web series "Tandav".
A bench of justices Sanjiv Khanna and M M Sundresh granted the relief after noting that Purohit has been cooperating in the investigation.
"In view of the statement made, we confirm the interim order and direct that in the event of the appellant Aparna Purohit being arrested, she shall be released on bail by the arresting officer/trial court on terms and conditions to be fixed by the trial court," it said.
Senior advocates Mukul Rohatgi and Sidharth Luthra, appearing for the petitioner, told the court that Purohit is cooperating in the investigation. The top court had earlier on March 5, 2021, granted interim protection from arrest to Purohit.
She has been accused of inappropriate depiction of Uttar Pradesh Police personnel, Hindu deities and an adverse portrayal of a character playing the prime minister in the web series.

The apex court, on January 27, 2021, had declined to grant interim protection from any coercive action to Ali Abbas Zafar, director of the web series; Purohit; producer Himanshu Mehra; the show's writer Gaurav Solanki and actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub.
It had said they may seek bail from courts concerned in the FIRs lodged in connection with the web series.
Purohit appealed to the top court against the Allahabad High Court's order declining anticipatory bail to her saying she had not been vigilant and has acted irresponsibly making her open to criminal prosecution in permitting streaming of a movie which is against the fundamental rights of the majority of citizens of this country.
On January 19, 2021, an FIR was lodged on the complaint of Balbir Azad of Raunija village under Rabupura police station of Greater Noida.

Amazon has launched its miniTV service in India, that lets users stream Web series, comedy shows, lifestyle videos and more. Available within the Amazon shopping app, it's accessible only for users on Android devices currently. Amazon miniTV is separate from Amazon Prime Video, and can be accessed by eligible users for free. Amazon India has said it aims to bring miniTV to users on iOS and mobile web in the future.

Earlier on Sunday, BJP MP Manoj Kotak wrote to I&amp;B minister Prakash Javadekar seeking a ban on the series for allegedly ridiculing Hindu deities. Officials from Amazon Prime Video told newsagency PTI that the platform &ldquo;won&rsquo;t be responding&rdquo; to media queries on the matter.

It was an exclusive service offered only to prime subscribers who could get food delivered within an hour from over 200 restaurants in the city.
