Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday accused the Congress of twisting facts and distorting his comments in the Rajya Sabha related to B R Ambedkar after BJP leaders "exposed" the opposition party's repeated "insults" to the architect of the Constitution.
Addressing a press conference here, Shah alleged that the Congress in the past has also misrepresented his and even PM Narendra Modi's comments to spread confusion and mislead people.
"I condemn the Congress for twisting facts. Why did it happen? It happened because BJP leaders spoke on how the NDA governments upheld the Constitution and established with facts that the Congress is anti-Ambedkar, anti-Constitution and anti-reservation," Shah told reporters here.
The senior BJP leader said the Congress also insulted V D Savarkar and blew to smithereens the values enshrined in the Constitution by imposing Emergency.
"When all these facts came out, the Congress used its old tricks and made an effort to mislead the society by presenting twisted facts," Shah said.
Shah said he comes from a party that can never insult Ambedkar.
Asked about Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's demand for his resignation, the home minister said in a lighter vein that he can quit if this will make the Congress president happy but it will never solve his problems. He has to remain in his chair, a reference to his party being in the opposition, for 15 more years, Shah said.
Kharge, he added, has acted under Rahul Gandhi's pressure to be part of this "malicious" campaign against him by distorting his views on Ambedkar.

The &ldquo;largest&rdquo; statue of B R Ambedkar outside India is all set to be unveiled in Maryland on October 14, the organisers have said.
The 19-foot statue, named &ldquo;Statue of Equality&rdquo;, has been made by renowned artist and sculptor Ram Sutar, who also built the statue of Sardar Patel installed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The statue of Ambedkar, the key architect of India's Constitution, is part of the Ambedkar International Center (AIC) being built on 13 acres of land in Accokeek city of Maryland.
&ldquo;This is the largest statue of Babasaheb outside India and has been installed as a part of the Ambedkar Memorial being constructed at this center,&rdquo; said the AIC.
&ldquo;Large number of representatives of Ambedkarite movement and his followers are expected to attend the event from across the USA and other parts of the world,&rdquo; it said.
According to the AIC, this memorial will serve to spread Babasaheb&rsquo;s messages and teachings and showcase a symbol of equality and human rights.
Representatives from various countries are expected to attend the status unveiling ceremony on October 14.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered India&rsquo;s first president Rajendra Prasad and the chairperson of the committee for drafting the Constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar, to stress the importance of the document outlining the rights and duties of both the government and the people.
PM Modi also shared a part of BR Ambedkar's speech in the Constituent Assembly on 4th November 1948.
Meanwhile, Congress and 14 opposition parties decided to boycott the function to mark the day in the Central Hall of Parliament.

The government slammed the decision calling it an insult to the Constitution.
Constitution Day is observed every year on November 26 to mark the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly on this day in 1949. It came into force on January 26, 1950.
 The Constitution Day was first observed in 2015 as a mark of tribute to India's first law minister BR Ambedkar.

The Allahabad High Court has called upon the Central government to initiate the process for of the Uniform Civil Code. The court stated that the Uniform Civil Code &ldquo;is a necessity and mandatorily required today&rdquo;.
Justice Suneet Kumar on November 18 said that the UCC &ldquo;cannot be made &lsquo;purely voluntary&rsquo; as was observed by Dr. B.R Ambedkar 75 years back.
The court directed the Centre to consider the constitution of a committee or commission for implementing the mandate of Article 44, as directed by the Supreme Court.
The court further added that a common civil code "will help the cause of national integration by removing disparate loyalties to laws which have conflicting ideologies".
"No community is likely to bell the cat by making gratuitous concessions on this issue. It is the State which is charged with the duty of securing a uniform civil code for the citizens of the country and, unquestionably, it has the legislative competence to do so,&rdquo; the court observed.
Justice Kumar made the observations while hearing a bunch of 17 petitions filed by inter-faith couples. The petitioners apprehended threat to their life and liberty at the hands of their parents, relatives and other family members in connivance of the State machinery.

He wrote what happened in Hathras was no different that how Hindu girls are treated in PoK.&nbsp;Raut said that identity of a rape victim should never be revealed, but a photograph of the Hathras victim in a hospital was circulated.

&ldquo;The Hathras victim was not a celebrity and she was not on drugs. She did not have any illegal construction (built by) spending crores of rupees. She was a simple girl whose dead body was illegally burnt in the dead of the night. All this happened in Yogi's (Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath&rsquo;s) &lsquo;Ramrajya&rsquo; (concept of ideal rule).
&ldquo;We hear that such incidents happen in Pakistan where Hindu girls are kidnapped, raped and murdered. What happened in Hathras was no different. So far no one has called Hathras a Pakistan," he said in his weekly column &lsquo;Rokhthok&rsquo;.
Raut said that identity of a rape victim should never be revealed, but a photograph of the Hathras victim in a hospital was circulated. &ldquo;Those who supported Kangana Ranaut's baseless comments against Mumbai and Maharashtra and demanded justice for her when her illegal construction was pulled down (by the Mumbai civic body last month), are now silent and have become invisible when it comes to demanding justice for the Hathras victim,&rdquo; he wrote.
He questioned the &ldquo;silence&rdquo; of National Commission for Women&rsquo;s chairperson Rekha Sharma, who had filed a case against Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik for his remarks against Ranaut, in the Hathras case.
&ldquo;Has justice eluded the Hathras victim because she was a Dalit?" Raut asked. He also criticised Union minister and Dalit leader Ramdas Athawale for &ldquo;keeping mum&rdquo; on the case.
"The Dalit movement and Ambedkar thoughts have been destroyed," he said.
Raut said 12,257 incidents of gang-rape have taken reported in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh from 2014 to 2019, &ldquo;but justice is given considering caste, religion and political affiliations&rdquo;.
&ldquo;If a Hathras-like incident had taken place in Maharashtra, demands would have been raised for dismissal of the state government and for imposition of President's rule,&rdquo; he added.&nbsp;
