Lok Sabha 2024: Andhra CM Jagan Reddy hurt in stone pelting, was catapult used? 

Reddy was seen being attended to by a doctor inside the bus and also grimacing from pain. However, he resumed his tour in the city.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy was on Saturday injured after stones were pelted by unknown persons during the YSRCP chief&rsquo;s election campaign in Vijayawada, his office said.
The chief minister suffered a small cut on the left side of his temple above the eye during his &lsquo;Memanta Siddham&rsquo; (we are all ready) election canvassing bus tour.
&ldquo;The stone struck the CM while he was acknowledging the crowds as part of his bus tour at Vivekananda School Centre in Singh Nagar, Vijayawada,&rdquo; said a statement from the Chief Minister&rsquo;s Office (CMO).
The stone hit Reddy at a very high velocity and officials are suspecting that it could have been launched from a catapult, prompting the people standing around him atop the bus to wipe his forehead with a handkerchief initially.
Immediately, the chief minister was administered first aid inside the bus by a doctor.
Reddy was seen being attended to by a doctor inside the bus and also grimacing from pain. However, unfazed by the stone pelting, he resumed his tour in the city, where he has been canvassing for nearly four hours.
Meanwhile, YSRCP leaders alleged that the TDP was behind this &ldquo;attack&rdquo;.
Reddy has embarked on a 21-day election campaign bus tour from Idupulupaya in Kadapa district to Icchapuram in Srikakulam district.
Elections for the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh are scheduled on May 13 and the counting of votes is slated for June 4.&nbsp;

Andhra Pradesh Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away Monday morning from a heart attack. He was admitted to the Apollo Hospital at Hyderabad early morning after a complaint of pain in the chest.
Reddy, 50, was a two-time MLA from the Atmakur Assembly constituency in the Nellore district. He also held the Information Technology portfolio. He is the son of former MP Rajamohan Reddy. The Indian Express reported that doctors suspect that he was suffering from post-Covid complications after he tested positive last April.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep shock and profound grief over the untimely demise of Gowtham Reddy. Terming him as a young promising leader who was known to him since the early days, the Chief Minister expressed anguish over the tragic incident and said that words fail to describe the loss of his young cabinet colleague.

YSR Congress lawmaker Kanumuri Raghurama Krishnam Raju was arrested in Hyderabad by Andhra Pradesh&rsquo;s Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Friday on charges of sedition, the police said in a statement.
The arrest comes weeks after the MP asked a special CBI special court on April 27 to cancel the bail granted to Jagan Mohan Reddy in a disproportionate assets case.
Raju was arrested from his residence in Hyderabad for allegedly acting in a way detrimental to the prestige of the state government.
A police statement said Raju was indulging in systematic, schematic effort to cause tensions among the communities and by attacking various government dignitaries in a way which will cause loss of faith in the government

In a letter to CJI SA Bobde, Jagan has alleged that a top court judge, who is seen as CJI-in-waiting is acting on behalf of TDP leader and former CM Chandrababu Naidu to destabilise his government. The letter also states that the SC judge was influencing the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and it names the High court Chief Justice and four other judges. The CM has also listed out cases and examples to allege that judgments have been delivered in favour of the Telugu Desam leaders and to obstruct the work of his govt.
