Around 15 workers suffered injuries, including five seriously, at a cement factory here on Sunday, said a police official.
Nandigama assistant commissioner of police B Ravi Kiran said when workers were on the second floor, some extremely hot material used in cement manufacture fell on them from the third floor at the Budawada Ultra Tech cement factory in Jaggaiahpeta mandal of NTR district.
"There was no blast, but a large amount of material fell down from the third floor to the second floor. Because of this hot material many people suffered burn injuries," Kiran told PTI.
According to the ACP, the accident occurred around 11.30 am and the injured included locals and north Indians.
Meanwhile, some labourers barged into the cement factory's office and broke some window panes and indulged in vandalism, prompting police to reach the spot and bring the situation under control.
Reacting to the industrial accident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure better treatment for the injured workers.
According to an official statement, Naidu instructed officials to submit a report on the cause of the accident and take steps against those responsible for it.
Further, he ordered officials to ensure that the company compensates the injured workers. He also promised help from the state government.

Scrapping the Muslim quota and redistributing it among Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) was a key poll promise of the BJP.&nbsp;
In 2023, the BJP government in Karnataka scrapped the 4 per cent reservation for Muslims, and redistributed it among Vokkaligas and Lingayats. Its next target was supposed to be Andhra Pradesh, despite opposition from ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
But the balance of power has shifted after Chandrababu Naidu's party swept the Assembly elections. TDP also has 16 seats in the Lok Sabha, making it the second largest party in the NDA, and crucial to government formation at the Centre.&nbsp;
In the run-up to the oath-taking ceremony, Naidu's son Nara Lokesh ruled out removing the Muslim quota in Andhra Pradesh. In an interview with NDTV he said, "It (reservation for Muslims) has been going around for the last two decades and we stand by it. We intend to continue it."
"It's a fact that minorities continue to suffer and have the lowest per capita income. As a government, it is my responsibility to bring them out of poverty. So whatever decisions I take are not for appeasement, but to bring them out of poverty," Lokesh added.
The silence from the BJP suggests the party has been forced to walk back on its promise in Andhra. The question is, what about other states?&nbsp;

Adding glitz to the election fervour in Andhra Pradesh, spouses of political heavyweights such as Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu have hit the campaign trail for their better halves.
YS Bharathi Reddy, wife of Jagan Mohan Reddy, held a campaign on Sunday in Pulivendula assembly constituency from where the YSR Congress chief is contesting, while the latter is busy touring the state canvassing for the party&rsquo;s candidates.
She went door-to-door, meeting people and discussing issues of the constituency.
&ldquo;Everyone is with Jagan sir... They expressed confidence that if Jagan promises something he will fulfill it come what may. Jagan always says that Pulivendula is my stronghold,&rdquo; she told media.
She further noted that she campaigned in the constituency even when her father-in-law, former chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy used to contest in the segment.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu Naidu's wife Bhuvaneswari is set to intensively campaign for her husband from May 1.
According to TDP sources, she filed the former Chief Minister&rsquo;s nomination for Kuppam assembly segment on his behalf on April 19.
She has already toured several parts of the state under &ldquo;Nijam Gelavali&rdquo; ( truth should triumph) and consoled families of &ldquo;people who died&rdquo; after hearing the news about Chandrababu Naidu&rsquo;s arrest in September last year in the skill development scam case.
She also provided financial assistance to the bereaved families.
Following in the footsteps of her mother-in-law, Nara Brahmani, wife of N Lokesh, began canvassing for her husband on April 20 in Mangalagiri, where he unsuccessfully contested in 2019 assembly polls.
Brahmani, Executive Director of family-run Heritage Foods Ltd interacted with some farmers in Bethapudi village in Mangalagiri.
She will resume her campaign from today, party sources said.
Chandrababu Naidu always worked for women empowerment and it is because of him that the concept of self-help groups assumed significance in the country, she had told reporters.

A woman, 32, allegedly died by suicide last week in Andhra Pradesh after being trolled on social media for praising the YSR Congress Party. &nbsp; The ruling party in Andhra Pradesh alleged that the woman, Gothi Geethanjali Devi, died by suicide after being trolled by the social media cell of the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) and the Jana Sena Party (JSP).&nbsp; In a video that has surfaced, Geethanjali Devi praised Jagan Mohan Reddy's party at an event on March 4 and said she has been a beneficiary of multiple schemes of the government. She also said she recived a plot of land under the 'Jagananna Housing Scheme' by the YSR Congress Party. &nbsp; She said, "My dream has come true today as the house site is now in my name. I am very happy as I did not expect to receive it on the stage."&nbsp; After the video went viral on social media, she was immensely trolled with some using foul language.&nbsp; Geetanjali was admitted to the Guntur Government Hospital where she died during treatment. She is survived by two school-going daughters.&nbsp; "Unable to deal with the constant trolling, Geethanjali reportedly went to the Tenali Railway Station on March 7, and jumped in front of the Janmabhoomi Express," the police said.&nbsp; Andhra Pradesh Women Commission said strict action would be taken against the social media handles that targeted her.&nbsp; A case of unnatural death has been filed and investigation is on, officials said.

Andhra Pradesh NDA partners finalised their seat-sharing formula for the Lok Sabha and state polls following a marathon discussion on Monday, under which the BJP will contest six Lok Sabha and 10 assembly seats while the TDP will fight 17 parliamentary and 144 state seats.
Under the deal, Pawan Kalyan's JanaSena will contest two Lok Sabha and 21 assembly seats, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu announced after the meeting.
Senior BJP leader and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat went into a huddle with TDP supremo Naidu and JanaSena chief Kalyan in Amaravati to finalise seat-sharing for the upcoming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
"In Amaravati today, the BJP, TDP and JSP (Janasena) forged a formidable seat-sharing formula. With this significant step, the people of Andhra Pradesh now stand on the threshold of reclaiming our state and paving the way for a brighter future. I humbly call upon my people of Andhra Pradesh to shower their blessings upon this alliance, and grant us a historic mandate to serve them," said Naidu in a post on X.
The state has 25 Lok Sabha and 175 assembly seats.
JanaSena was initially supposed to contest 24 assembly and three Lok Sabha seats, but in the seat-sharing formula it got 21 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats, after the TDP joined the NDA alliance recently.
The 2024 polls will be the first time the three parties are contesting the polls together. Back in 2014, when TDP and BJP fought the polls together, JanaSena was their outside ally.
The TDP and JanaSena have announced the names of 100 candidates already, and Naidu said the respective parties will name other candidates soon.
According to the TDP supremo, the Monday brainstorming exercise sought to forge a formidable combination of seats for every alliance partner that truly represents the people of Andhra Pradesh and their aspirations.
Meanwhile, TDP sources said that the state's opposition party have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend an election meeting which could take place between March 17 and 20.
"We have invited Modi for the meeting, mostly he will come for the meeting, date is not yet finalised. We proposed March 17 but a day here and there, mostly Modi will be there. Between March 17 and 20 it will happen. That will be a good way to kick off the campaign. Modi, Naidu, Pawan, all together," the sources added.
Another TDP source emphasised that if Modi participates in this meeting, it could be the first time in a decade that Modi, Naidu and Kalyan would be sharing stage.&nbsp;

A woman, 56, died of cardiac arrest on March 10 in Andhra Pradesh&rsquo;s Anantapur after witnessing the brutal murder of her 59-year-old husband. &nbsp; Police said the incident happened at an apartment in LIC Colony, opposite the JNTU campus in Anantapur, where the deceased, identified as Murthy Rao Gokhale, was murdered by his nephew Adithya, according to a Times of India report. &nbsp; Gokhale was working as a guest faculty at SK University. He also served as the principal of Ananta Lakshmi Engineering College.&nbsp; &nbsp; Adithya, who completed a master's degree in engineering, paid an amount of money to Gokhale to secure placement at a reputed company. When he failed to do so, Adithya hatched a plan to kill him.&nbsp; After indulging with him in a heated argument, Adithya slit Gokhale&rsquo;s throat and gave him several injury cuts all over his body. Gokhale died on the spot. &nbsp; &nbsp; The wife of the deceased, Shobha, tried to intervene but was unable to save her husband. She also suffered a few injuries and later died of cardiac arrest. &nbsp; Police have arrested Adithya and are currently questioning him.&nbsp; &nbsp; The bodies of the couple were sent for postmortem to the Government General Hospital in Anantapur. &nbsp;

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's sister YS Sharmila has accused him of attempting to put her on house arrest. Sharmila said she spent the night at the Congress party office in Vijayawada to prevent the action.
In a viral video, Sharmila can be seen lying on a cot on the floor of the party office.
She wrote in a post on X, "If we call for protest on behalf of the unemployed, will you try to keep us under house arrest? Don't we have the right to protest in a democracy? A preliminary railway probe into the Sunday night accident in Andhra Pradesh has held the driver and the assistant driver of the Rayagada Passenger train responsible for the collision as it passed two defective auto signals violating norms. Both crew members were killed in the accident.
Signed by seven experts, the preliminary report said they carefully examined the accident site, available evidence, statements of officials concerned, data logger report and the speedometer chart.
It concluded that the Rayagada passenger train (08504) hit the Visakhapatnam Palasa passenger train (08532) from the rear due to the crew of the former passing two defective auto signals.
"Hence, LP (loco pilot), S M S Rao, ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) of Train no 08504 (Rayagada Passenger train) held responsible," the report, accessed by PTI, said.
According to the railway norm, the train should have stopped for two minutes at the defective auto signals and then started at 10 kmph which it didn't do, leading to the collision, the report said.
The Rayagada Passenger train hit the Visakhapatnam Palasa Ttrain from behind at 7 pm on October 29 on the Howrah-Chennai line in Kantakapalli in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, killing 14 and injuring over 50 train passengers.

11 people have been killed and over 50 injured after two trains collided in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district on Sunday evening.&nbsp;
'So far, 11 people have died and 50 others are injured. We are presently focusing on the track restoration work. The rescue operation is over now...We have arranged buses and trains for the stranded passengers,' Biswajit Sahu, CPRO, East Coast Railway, said.&nbsp;
He said the accident took place between Alamanda and Kantakapalli in the Vizianagaram-Kottavalasa railway section of the Waltair division of the East Coast Railway zone at about 7 pm.
He said train number 08532 (Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger) and 08504 (Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger special) were involved in the accident, adding that the Rayagada passenger had overshot the signal.
Two coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train from the rear and the locomotive of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train got derailed, the official added.

TDP workers blocked roads and raised slogans against Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. Several TDP leaders including Naidu's son Nara Lokesh were detained in East Godavari district for protesting.
The party has also alleged that Nara Lokesh was stopped from meeting his father.&nbsp;
The former CM was arrested by the CID around 6 a.m. from a marriage hall in an alleged Skill Development scam.&nbsp;
In a notice served to Naidu, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the CID's Economic Offences Wing (EOW), M Dhanunjayudu, said, "It is to inform you that you have been arrested... at 6 am at R K Function Hall, Gnanapuram, H/o Moolasagaram, Nandyala town and it is a non-bailable offence." The former Andhra Pradesh chief minister has been arrested under relevant IPC sections, including Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 465 (forgery), according to the notice.
The Andhra Pradesh CID has also invoked the Prevention of Corruption Act against him. The notice was served under CrPC Section 50 (1) (2).

A medical officer at the hospital explained a bleeding woman arrived at the hospital at dawn and claimed her newborn baby had died.
&ldquo;We were on a morning walk when we heard the baby's cries. When we looked for the source of the cries, we found the baby in the drain and took her out,&rdquo; a local said, as per NDTV.
A police official from Palamner told the outlet that the unidentified woman came from Karnataka. &ldquo;The baby has been handed over to the care of the ICDS officers, and the child welfare committee will take a decision,&rdquo; the officer said.

The Andhra Pradesh government limited the usage of phones in classrooms for teachers. Officials said the negative impact of phones outweighs their utility.
The decision was based on UNESCO&rsquo;s Global Educational Monitoring Report which says students have difficulty concentrating even with partial access to a phone.
Teachers carrying phones will need to deposit their devices with school authorities after marking their attendance.
&ldquo;It has been seen that many teachers take mobile phones into the classrooms during teaching hours for their personal use and not for any professional requirement,&rdquo; the Andhra Pradesh government said in a statement, as per NDTV.
&ldquo;This diverts teaching time in the classroom to other purposes that are unproductive for the academic improvement of children,&rdquo; it added.

Inspecting officers can also organise surprise checks in Andhra schools and punish anyone found in violation. Authorities can also seize the offender&rsquo;s phone and take action against school officials.

Ramaraju said it was better to die in the council meeting for not being able to fulfil the promises as his voters were demanding him to execute the unfulfilled civic works.

A councillor in Anakapalli district slapped himself with a slipper on Monday for failing to fulfil the promises he made to his voters.
Mulaparthi Ramaraju, councillor, Narsipatnam Municipality (Ward 20), vented his frustration during the council meeting. A video of this act has gone viral.
"It has been 31 months since I have been elected as a councillor but I am unable to solve civic issues like drainage, power, sanitation, roads and other problems in my ward," Ramaraju told PTI, explaining the reason for slapping himself.
The 40-year-old councillor, who ekes out a living by driving an autorickshaw said he tried all options but could not keep up the promises made to voters.
He alleged that the local municipal officials completely ignored Ward 20 and he could not even get a water connection to any of his voters.
Ramaraju said it was better to die in the council meeting for not being able to fulfil the promises as his voters were demanding him to execute the unfulfilled civic works.
The councillor was backed by TDP during the local body polls.

According to local fishermen, it is rare for such whales to be stranded on Andhra shores and this one may have died in shallow waters.&nbsp;
Videos and photographs of the whale are going viral some of which show people standing on the whale in order to take selfies.&nbsp;

In a scary incident, a bus in Telangana caught fire while passengers were on board.
Around 11 people were on the bus, and they immediately vacated the vehicle after sensing smoke.
The bus, operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation, later erupted in flames. The blaze was brought under control by the fire department.

Uppala Amarnath, a student of Class 10, was on his way to tuition at around 7 in the morning when his classmate Venkateshwar Reddy and others poured petrol on him and set him on fire, according to the police.&nbsp;
Hearing his screams, locals immediately put out the fire and rushed him to the hospital but he died of serious burn injuries on the way.
The police said the teenager named three people including Venkateshwar Reddy when we was being taken to the hospital. The police have detained all three. &nbsp;The reason for the attack is being ascertained.&nbsp;
