Filmmaker Anurag Basu has announced his next directorial venture &lsquo;The Black Tiger&rsquo;, a biopic on Indian spy Ravindra Kaushik. The director, who has helmed films like &lsquo;Life in a&hellip; Metro&rsquo;, &lsquo;Gangster&rsquo;, &lsquo;Barfi!&rsquo;, and &lsquo;Ludo&rsquo;, said stories of unsung heroes like Kaushik must be shared with people.
In a statement, Anurag Basu said, &lsquo;Ravindra Kaushik&rsquo;s story is that of courage and valour. At the young age of 20 years, he played a pivotal role in many national and international security matters of the &rsquo;70s and &rsquo;80s that went on to define India&rsquo;s as well as South Asia&rsquo;s geopolitical character. So much of our history is either hidden or forgotten. We ought to recognise and learn about this unsung hero.&rsquo;
According to the press release, Ravinder Kaushik was 20 when he first went undercover for Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India&rsquo;s foreign intelligence agency. He is considered as India&rsquo;s best spy so far for his success in penetrating the highest ranks of the Pakistani Army, thereby receiving the moniker &lsquo;The Black Tiger&rsquo; from Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India.
His timely reporting of critical information ensured that Indian Security Forces, between 1974 to 1983, were constantly steps ahead of any move Pakistan was planning to make, stated the release.
Ravinder Kaushik&rsquo;s family members have given their consent to the biopic and are helping the makers by sharing information in addition to the story from their lens. &lsquo;The Black Tiger&rsquo; is produced by Anurag Basu, R Vivek, Asvin Srivatsangam and Divay Dhamija.

Bhushan Kumar and director Anurag Basu have joined hands for an upcoming anthology film &lsquo;Metro&hellip; In Dino'. The film will feature an ensemble cast of Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. The music of the film will be composed by Pritam.
Talking about the film and his collaboration with Anurag Basu, Producer Bhushan Kumar said 'Working with Anurag dada has always been a treat! Stitching a story out of parallel lives together in a film with a contemporary twist, none better than dada could helm this ship. We are elated to join hands with him yet again for 'Metro... In Dino'.
Director Anurag Basu also briefed about the movie and said that 'Metro...In Dino' is a tale of the people and for the people. He further added that he has been working on the film for quite a while and the audience will get to see a fresh and relevant film.
The film is a sequel to the 2007 movie 'Life in a... Metro', directed by Basu himself.

Now, everyone is eager to know who will feature opposite Kartik in the film and many names have cropped up. Makers even had to put out a statement that the female lead has not been locked in yet. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh also put out the statement on social media, saying that search for leading lady is on.  Now, Gulshan Devaiah, who is best known for featuring in films such as ‘Hunterrr’, ‘Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota’, and ‘A Death In The Gunj’, has expressed his desire to play the ‘leading lady’ in the film. He retweeted the Taran Adarsh’s tweet and said, ‘I offer myself for the position of “Leading Lady” Dhamaka kardenge dono bhai milke pichchar mey likhk ke le loh.’  In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, the actor opened up on his tweet and said that his offer is serious and is still open. ‘Out of the box casting, no one will see it coming and everyone will be thoroughly entertained. Maan nahi raha koi meri baat (no one is listening to me), I am ready. I am fine with playing a gay man but here I am offering myself to play a leading lady. Kartik is the leading man, Gulshan Devaiah should be his leading lady. Isn’t it a wonderful challenge? Being a straight guy, how do I convincingly play a pretty leading lady! It’s a joke. But if you think about it seriously, it’s a tough thing to pull off,’ he said.

Actor Kartik Aaryan is all set to be starred in Anurag Basu’s directorial Aashiqui 3. Playing the lead role in a musical love story like Aashiqui 3, Kartik termed the movie as a “dream come true” moment for him. He further said that he grew up being inspired by the first part of Aashiqui.     In an interview with Variety, Kartik in a statement said, “The timeless classic Aashiqui is something I grew up watching and working on Aashiqui 3 is like a dream come true. I feel privileged yet grateful collaborating with Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt for this opportunity. I’ve been a big fan of Anurag Basu’s work and collaborating with him on this one will definitely shape me in many ways.”    Director Anurag also spoke about the upcoming movie ‘Aashiqui 3’ and said that ‘Aashiqui’ and ‘Aashiqui 2’ were ‘emotions for the fans’ that is still instilled in the audience’s heart. He also spoke on carrying the legacy ahead in the best way he can. Anurag also praised the ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ actor for his ‘hard work, dedication, grit and determination towards his work.’    Kartik Aaryan also shared a picture on Instagram in which Kartik, Anurag, music composer Pritam, Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar can be seen. Producer Mukesh Bhatt of Vishesh Films said Aashiqui 3 will “celebrate love like never before.”     T-Series MD and producer Bhushan Kumar said it was the perfect time to revive the beloved franchise, who still has a place in everyone's heart.    The female actor has not been announced yet.     Kartik Aaryan will next be seen in Shehzada. He also has Satyaprem Ki Katha, Captain India and Freddy in the pipeline.
