Michael Arnold, 65, of Schuylerville, was ordered held without bail following his February 1 arrest on misdemeanour counts of stalking and criminal contempt, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said.
Arnold is accused of waiting for and following the victim on January 12 in violation of an order of protection. He appeared in Saratoga Town Court and was ordered held pending a future appearance.
His attorney did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment Thursday.
The misdemeanours add to a growing list of pending charges against Arnold in New York and Vermont, where he kept his 1976 Cessna 180 single-engine plane.
Arnold is accused of harassing a cafe owner in the village of Schuylerville for more than four years, beginning in October 2019 when he came into her cafe, the Times Union of Albany reported. Following an email that included a picture of himself partially clothed, he began flying his plane over the woman's home, the newspaper said.
Arnold pleaded not guilty in Vermont in October to several charges, including aggravated stalking. He was released on the condition that he stay away from the woman and airplanes.

Hush money case: Trump expects to be arrested Tuesday as DA eyes charges

Law enforcement officials in New York have been making security preparations for the possibility that Trump could be indicted.

Donald Trump said in a social media post that he expects to be arrested on Tuesday as a New York prosecutor is eyeing charges in a case examining hush money paid to women who alleged sexual encounters with the former president.
Trump said in a post on his Truth Social network early on Saturday that &ldquo;illegal leaks&rdquo; from the Manhattan district attorney's office indicate that &ldquo;The far &amp; away leading republican candidate &amp; former president of the United States of America, will be arrested on Tuesday of next week.&rdquo; Messages left on Saturday with the district attorney's office were not immediately returned. Representatives for Trump did not immediately respond to calls for comment.
Trump did not provide any details on social media about how he knew about the expected arrest. In his postings, he repeated his lies that the 2020 presidential election he lost to Democrat Joe Biden was stolen and he urged his followers to &ldquo;Protest, take our nation back!&rdquo; That language evoked the message from the then-president that preceded the riot at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Arrest warrant issued against Russian President Vladimir Putin: report

The Hague-based ICC accused the Russian president of responsibility for war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine during the war that has been ongoing for over a year.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Friday issued an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian official Maria Alekseyevna LvovaBelova for the alleged scheme to deport Ukrainian children to Russia, reported CNN.
The Hague-based ICC accused the Russian president of responsibility for war crimes committed by Russian forces in Ukraine during the war that has been ongoing for over a year.
The Hague-based court said in a statement on Friday Putin "is allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of the population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation."
It also issued a warrant for the arrest of Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova, the commissioner for children's rights in the office of the president of the Russian Federation on similar allegations, reported Al Jazeera.
Russia did not immediately comment following the ICC's move on Friday.

She claims she suffered head injuries after the incident. A CCTV footage of the incident which happened on October 19 has been retrieved by the police.
The producer has been charged with sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. IPC Section 134 A and B of the Motor Vehicles Act is also imposed on Kamal Mishra for fleeing from the spot without seeking help or informing the police.

An anti-terrorism court in Lahore issued the verdict in early June. Mir had been incarcerated at Lahore's Kot Lakhpat prison since his arrest in April. An embarrassed Islamabad apparently tried to keep the case under wraps with the Counter Terrorism Department of Punjab Police not notifying the conviction.

He now joins other top Lashkar operatives in prison. These include chief of the terror organisation, Hafiz Saeed - the mastermind of the 26/11 attacks. He has been sentenced to 68 years in prison in terror financing cases. However, he is expected to spend very little time in jail as the sentences will run concurrently.
Another Lashkar terrorist in jail is Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi. He acted as the operational commander of the 26/11 conspiracy. He is also in jail under terror financing charges.

So, why is Pakistan suddenly taking action against terrorists, after years of letting them roam free?
The country is currently trying to exit the 'grey list' of the Financial Action Task Force, or FATF. Islamabad was placed in the grey list in 2018 for allowing terror financing and money laundering from its territory. In order to exit the grey list, Pakistan has to take action against terrorists. To verify that effective action has truly been taken, FATF officials are slated to visit the country soon.
If Pakistan fails to convince FATF that it is cracking down on terrorist networks, then it might be relegated to the 'black list'. This would lead to imposition of sanctions. Foreign investments and loans will dry up, and trade with other countries will become extremely difficult.
Pakistan is already struggling with economic distress along with political instability.If the FATF decides to penalise Islamabad, it might just push the country into a Sri Lanka-like situation.
But it is also difficult to believe that a country which has encouraged terrorism for many decades, has suddenly decided to clean up its act. So, is the jailing of sinister terrorists justice, or just a show?

The government announced that the Cabinet Committee on Rape and Law &amp; Order will review all these cases.

On 14 August 2021, which is celebrated as Pakistan's Independence Day, a TikTok star was molested by a mob at the Minar-e-Pakistan monument in Lahore. A month earlier, 27-year-old Noor Muqaddam, the daughter of a former diplomat, was raped, tortured, and killed allegedly by the scion of a prominent industrialist family.
In July 2016, social media star Qandeel Baloch was murdered by her brother for what he called "intolerable behaviour". In June 2002, a woman named Mukhtaran Mai had been gangraped on orders of the village council as punishment for her brother's relationship with a woman from a rival tribe. In April 1999, 28-year-old Samia Sarwar had been shot dead allegedly be her family for seeking a divorce over domestic violence.
In light of such distressing cases, Pakistan ranks 167 out of 170 countries on the Global Women, Peace, and Security Index. According to police records, 41,000 women went missing in Pakistan's Punjab province in the last 5 years, and over 3,500 of them had not been found by March 2022.
Studies say that at least 32% women in Pakistan have experienced physical violence, and 28% women aged between 15 and 49 years have been victims of intimate partner violence. Experts agree that these figures are conservative. Meanwhile, the conviction rate is limited to 1% to 2.5% in crimes against women.
The imposition of an emergency in Pakistan's Punjab has been sparked by an alarming spike in violence. On 14 June, a rickshaw driver allegedly raped a teenage girl in Muzaffargarh. On 27 May, a 25-yr-old woman was allegedly gangraped on a Karachi-Multan train. A day earlier, robbers allegedly raped a minor girl in front of her family in Pattoki. On 22 May, a bus driver working with a private company allegedly raped a woman in Bahawalpur.
With panic gripping women, Pakistani authorities have announced a slew of measures. The steps include fast-track DNA examination by forensic labs to identify assailants. The government is also running anti-rape campaigns to spread awareness.
The authorities are also telling parents to not leave children unattended at home. Additionally, students will be sensitised at school regarding sexual harassment. The government will also consult civil society, women's rights activists, and teachers for prevention of sexual crimes.
It remains to be seen whether measures like imposition of emergency are effective in ending an entrenched culture of crimes against women and subsequent impunity in Pakistan.

In yet another shocking crime against women, an 18-year-old was found murdered in a sugarcane field in Uttar Pradesh. The victim's body had been chopped, and the family alleged rape.

Two accused named Shailesh and Sarvjeet allegedly enticed and convinced victims. A person named Latif allegedly helped in conducting the victims' medical tests. Vikas, another accused, helped with accommodation and travel of the victims to Gohana, where illegal transplants were done at Dr Sonu Rohilla's clinic, as per police.
Many such rackets have been busted by police in various parts of India. In 2002, a dangerous operation was uncovered in Punjab's Amritsar. In 2008, a similar racket was unearthed in Haryana's Gurgaon. Surgeries were done at a private house. In 2018, needly recipients were allegedly lured with fake documents at a Kolkata hospital. In May 2022, an alleged kidney racket was busted at Pune's Ruby Hall clinic.
There are multiple reasons why kidney rackets are so common. The biggest reason is demand. India sees around 2 lakh cases of end-stage kidney failure every year, with patients needing either transplant or dialysis. But only 5,000 to 9,000 transplants reportedly take place.
Another reason is that kidneys survive outside the body for 24 to 36 hours, compared to just a few hours for liver and lungs. At ₹5-10 lakhs, the cost of a kidney transplant is also much lower than other organs. Additionally, most urologists are trained to do kidney transplants, and patients do not face undue risks.
Kidney transplant is governed in India by the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994. The law reportedly says that organs can be taken from recipient's living close relatives like children, siblings, spouse, grandparents, and grandchildren. Distant relatives, long-term friends, and parents-in-law can also donate, but money can't exchange hands. Swap transplants, and donations from brain-dead and cardiac-dead patients are also reportedly allowed. Living donations are checked by a hospital committee to prevent commercial transactions.
The law also lays down punishments for different types of offences. For removal of human organs without authority, the maximum penalty is a 10-year jail term, and ₹20 lakh fine. For commercial dealing in human organs, the maximum punishment is a 10-year jail term, and ₹1 crore fine.
Despite such strict penalties, organ trade - especially kidneys - continues to thrive in India. Apart from plugging gaps in the implementation of the laws, experts believe that spreading awareness about organ donation from the deceased can help deal with the demand-supply issue to a great extent.

A 27-year-old daily wage earner was arrested in Greater Noida for allegedly damaging idols kept at a temple as he was “upset" with God over his family's ill health for the past few years, police said on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Vinod Kumar alias Bhoora who is a native of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh, was arrested on Tuesday after an FIR was lodged at Beta 2 police station on the complaint of a local a day after the incident came to fore, they said.
According to the police, three idols kept at a temple were found vandalized on Monday morning. The temple did not have any priest and acting on the complaint, police were deployed at the site in a preventive measure, they said.
“The matter was investigated and accused Vinod Kumar was arrested on Tuesday. The tools used by him to damage the idols were also recovered,” a police spokesperson said.
“During questioning, the accused told the police that his wife and five-year-old child have not been keeping well for the past three-four years. He said that he had been praying to the Gods but their health did not improve. Recently, his aunt also passed away, leaving him severely depressed,” the spokesperson said.
All these events led Kumar to damaging the idols, the police said, claiming the accused has confessed to committing the crime using a hammer and a chisel, both of which have been recovered.
A case was lodged against the accused under Indian Penal Code Section 295 (defiling place of worship), the police said, adding that he has been sent to jail.

In a fresh political controversy in Pakistan, a former minister was claimed to have been "kidnapped" by police. Shireen Mazari, who was a member of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan's cabinet, was arrested on May 21.
Mazari has been criticising the Pakistan Army since Imran Khan lost the PM chair in a no-confidence motion in April 2022. Shireen Mazari's daughter Imaan accused police of beating up and abducting her mother, stating, "My mother was kidnapped, I won't say arrested. When the police arrest someone, they inform you on what charge the person is taken away for."
Imran Khan slammed his successor Shehbaz Sharif for the arrest. Khan called Sharif's government "imported" and "fascist". The former PM added, "Our movement is completely peaceful but this fascist, imported govt wants to push the country towards chaos. As if sending the economy into tailspin wasn't enough, they now want anarchy to avoid elections."

Forcibly kissing someone on the lips, and touching private parts are not unnatural offences under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. The Bombay High Court reportedly said this while granting bail to a man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.
The man was arrested last year after the boy's father filed a police complaint. The boy used to visit the accused man's shop in Mumbai for recharging an online game 'Ola Party', according to news agency PTI.
The boy claimed that one day when he visited the shop, he was forcibly kissed, and his private parts were touched. Subsequently, the man was booked under IPC Section 377, and some sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences, or POCSO, Act.
IPC 377 pertains to "carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman, or animal". It carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.
Bombay High Court's Justice Anuja Prabhudessai said that the element of unnatural sex was not prima facie applicable. The judge also said that a medical test conducted on the boy did not support his statement of sexual assault.
