India is the most successful team in the history of the tournament with seven titles so far.

Defending champions India have been clubbed with arch-rivals Pakistan, UAE and Nepal in group A of the women's Asia Cup T20 Championships which is scheduled to get underway in Dambulla, Sri Lanka on July 19.
The nine-day affair, will feature eight teams -- one extra than the last edition. Unlike last time, the eight teams will be split into two groups with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia placed in Group B.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals on July 26. The final is scheduled on July 28.
India is the most successful team in the history of the tournament with seven titles so far.
The marquee clash betwen India and Pakistan is scheduled for July 21.
"We are excited to see the increased participation and competitiveness among the teams, reflecting the growing popularity and importance of women's cricket. This expansion, from six teams in 2018 to seven in 2022, and now eight, is a testament to our commitment to the women's game and the burgeoning talent pool in Asian cricket," Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, Jay Shah was quoted as saying in a statement accessed by ESPNCricinfo.
The Asia Cup, which will feature only female umpires like last time, holds importance in the build-up to the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Bangladesh starting in September.

Nasum Ahmed later added a crucial 44 off 45 to help Bangladesh post a 265-run target. In response, Shubman Gill who registered his 5th ODI hundred was the lone bright spot in India&rsquo;s batting. His 121 off 133 balls was exceptional but did not prove sufficient as the youngster hardly received any support from the other end. After Mehedi Hasan ousted Gill, Axar Patel did try to bring India back in the game with a 42 but Bangladesh bowlers came down heavily on the Men in Blue to help their team register their first win against India after 11 years in Asia Cup.

The Dasun Shanaka-led side registered a nail-biting 2-wicket win (DLS method) over Pakistan in a rain-interrupted Super Four clash in Columbo. After winning the toss Pakistan who chose to bat first had a difficult start as they lost Fakhar Zaman very early. However, Abdullah Shafique's 52 off 69 balls stabilised the innings with a 64-run partnership with captain Babar Azam. While Pakistan lost 4 wickets in a short while thereafter, Mohd Rizwan's 86 not out off 73 balls brought the Men in Green back on track. A late push with Iftikhar Ahmed (47 off 40 balls) at the other end, helped them post a competitive 252/7 in 42 overs. In response, Kusal Mendis' valiant 91 and Sadeera Samarawickrama's 48 paved a smooth way for Sri Lanka at first but Pakistan who dearly missed the services of Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah brought back things under control at the death. Shaheen Afridi picked 2 wickets in the penultimate over giving away just 4 runs. While Zaman Khan bowled a good final over, with 6 needed from 2, Charith Asalanka (49 off 47) proved to be the hero for the home side, sending them through to the final on the final ball of the game. Sri Lanka will take on India in final on Sunday.

We weren't told what the overs in which we could get 295 or 297. Bangladesh has been hit hard by injuries in their ongoing <a href="https://www.editorji.com/sports-news/cricket/asia-cup-2023-heartbreak-for-afghanistan-as-sri-lanka-take-last-super-four-spot-1693935075575">Asia Cup campaign</a> with Najmul Hossain Shanto being ruled out of the remainder of the tournament with a hamstring problem.
As per the country's Cricket Board (BCB), he will return to Bangladesh immediately and work on his rehabilitation ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup, set to begin in India next month.

According to team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan, Shanto's injury occurred during Bangladesh's meeting against Afghanistan, where he played a brilliant knock of 104 to guide the team to an 89-run win.
Shanto was seemingly struggling to run during the latter part of the Bangladesh innings and refrained from taking the field during Afghanistan's chase.
"The player had complained of hamstring pain during batting and could not field. We had an MRI scan done confirming a muscle tear," explained Bayjedul in a statement to ESPNCricinfo.
"As a precaution, Shanto will not take any further part in the tournament and will be returning home to start rehab and prepare for the World Cup." Shanto has been the top run-scorer in the event so far, accumulating 193 runs in a couple of fixtures at a brilliant average of 96.50, including a ton and a half-century.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has received a big boost with the comeback of their Litton, just in time for the Super-Four stage.
"The Asia Cup squad has a few injury concerns, and the team management felt the need for an additional player going into the Super Four," Bangladesh chief selector Minhajul Abedin was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
"We have received the BCB medical team's clearance regarding Litton's health and have decided to send him to Pakistan." Besides Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz had suffered finger cramps while scoring his century and had to retire hurt.
In a prior match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on August 31, Mustafizur Rahman picked up a niggle that prevented him from playing against Afghanistan.

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir who is known to call a spade a spade has now criticised players of opposing teams displaying camaraderie during cricket matches.&nbsp; Without mincing his words, Gambhir took potshots at the Indian and Pakistan cricketers who were seen engaging in friendly chat while their Asia Cup match was halted by the heavy downpour in Kandy. During a chat on Star Sports show Gambhir said, "When you play on the field for your national team, you must leave the friendship outside the boundary ropes. Game face hona zaroori hai. Since the hue and cry, PCB unofficially has tried to play down the situation by saying that the ACC had taken a decision after last year&rsquo;s Asia Cup that the host country&rsquo;s name would not be given with the Asia Cup logo in future events.
But most Pakistani cricket fans on social media are not willing to accept this explanation. Some have even questioned that even if the ACC had taken such a decision, why did the PCB agree to it since Pakistan was hosting a multi-team event after 15-years. 
&ldquo;Makes no sense at all. Then why has the ACC given the host country&rsquo;s name on the logos for their Asian Emerging Nations Cup or their Asian under-16 event held in July in Malaysia,&rdquo; former Test batsman Mohsin Khan questioned.
Mohsin Khan said the ACC should clear the confusion.
Another former player who didn&rsquo;t want to be named believes that Jay Shah, the President of the ACC and secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), was the reason for Pakistan not being acknowledged as the host nation on the official logo.
&ldquo;Given the current scenario between the two countries perhaps the BCCI official felt it would be embarrassing for the Indian team players to wear kits with the name of Pakistan on the official Asia Cup logo,&rdquo; he said.
Rashid Latif didn&rsquo;t rule out this possibility and said what had happened was embarrassing and needed to be clarified

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Wednesday said the massive 238-run win over Nepal in the Asia Cup opener will give his side confidence ahead of their blockbuster clash against arch-rivals India on Saturday.
Pakistan crushed minnows Nepal by a huge margin of 238 runs here in a Group A match to make a winning start to the Asia Cup.
Pakistan will now travel to Sri Lanka for the much-anticipated match against India to be played in Pallekele.
"This game was good preparation for the India game because it gave us confidence. We want to give 100 per cent every match, hope to do that there as well," Babar said after the end of the match. Babar smashed 151, his 19th ODI century while Iftikhar Ahmed (109 not out) hit his maiden ODI ton to power Pakistan to an imposing 342 for six after opting to bat.
Babar was involved in two crucial partnerships after a sedate start -- first stitching 86 runs with Mohammad Rizwan (44 off 50) and then sharing an whirlwind 214 runs for the fifth wicket with Iftikhar. In reply, Nepal were bowled out for just 104 in 23.4 overs with Shadab Khan taking four wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf claiming two each.
"When I went in, I played a couple of balls. The ball wasn't coming on, pitch was two-paced. (Mohammad) Rizwan and I built the partnership and see what happened. Sometimes, Rizwan gave me confidence and vice-versa," he said.
"When Iftikhar came, the tempo changed. He played well too. After two-three fours, he was comfortable, he smacked it after 40 overs.
"I'm satisfied. A couple of overs we were not up to the mark. Pacers did well, spinners struck too," Babar added.

Few Pakistan fans also gave some clarification and stated that since the first game happened on a working day, fans will gradually fill up the stadium.

Nepal on Monday announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup with all-rounder Rohit Paudel as captain of a team that also features former Delhi Capitals spinner Sandeep Lamichhane.
The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) took to its social media handles to announce the squad for the tournament that will be jointly organised by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
CAN also said that the team would be undergoing a week-long preparatory camp in Pakistan, where it would be playing matches against PCB-designated teams.
The tournament will be played between August 30-September 17. It will comprise six teams, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh and India.
Nepal has been clubbed in Group A, alongside India and Pakistan. It plays its opening game against the hosts on the first day of the competition in Multan before playing India on September 4 in Kandy.
The event will be played in the One-Day International format and would act as a dress rehearsal for the Asian teams ahead of the 2023 ICC World Cup in India.
While Sri Lanka is the six-time defending champion in the tournament, it would be Nepal's maiden appearance in the competition.
