The Indian men's kabaddi team emerged victorious after an hour of arguments to reclaim its Asian Games title, beating defending champions Iran 33-29 in a controversial final, which was temporarily suspended, in Hangzhou on Saturday.
The women's team survived by the skin of its teeth as it beat Chinese Taipei 26-25 in a dramatic final for the country's 100th medal.
There was hardly anything separating the two teams in the men's summit clash at 28-28 with one minute and five seconds left on the clock.
But controversy erupted in the last minute when Indian skipper Pawan Sehrawat went in for a do-or-die raid.
Sehrawat went into the lobby (out of bound) without a touch. However, Amirhossein Bastami and three other Iranian defenders rushed towards the Indian in an attempt to push him out, leading to confusion and mayhem.
It was unclear whether Sehrawat had been successfully tackled or not and there was also confusion as to which rule was to be applied -- the old one or the new one.
According to the new rule, Sehrawat was out but the old rule deemed Sehrawat and all the Iranians who followed him also out, which would give India four points and Iran one.
With the officials see-sawing between ruling in favour of India and Iran, both sets of players sat on the court in protest when the decision went against them in unprecedented scenes.
After a lot of deliberation, discussion and arguing by both sides, and the match being suspended, the officials ruled it in favour of India and the scoreline read 32-29.

'I came here with the motive of winning a gold for India but returning with 3 Gold medals feels like a dream.'

'Firstly, I would like to congratulate other sportspersons as well. The dream came true because of their hard work as well. 100 is a very huge number for India and it feels very proud that India is growing,' Ojas added.

"They are trying to cheat us and trying to disturb our athletes. Neeraj's first throw was very good and it was a kind of disturbance. We called Neeraj to protest there itself. Jena's throw was also called foul when he was one foot behind the line," the legendary long jumper alleged.
These comments came after a huge controversy took place on Wednesday which saw Olympic, World and defending Asian Champion Neeraj Chopra's first throw not being measured by the officials in time.
"I don't know why they did not measure my first throw. Just after me, the second and third competitors had their throws and their distance were measured. I kept on asking what happened to my first throw," Chopra told reporters after winning the gold medal on his fourth attempt.
However, despite of all interruptions and distractions the Indian duo came out on top and secured the 1-2 on the podium adding to India's record medal tally at the Asian Games.

It was the first time since 1951 that India won gold in both men's and women's javelin throw at the Asian Games.

The writing was on the wall. Neeraj Chopra was being labelled as the favourite to win Men's Javelin throw gold and he lived up to the billing.
Poster boy of Indian athletics, Neeraj finished at the top of the podium but got a tough fight from Kishore Jena, who finished with a silver.
Neeraj's first throw probably around the 87m mark but he had to retake it because another athlete went for his throw before Neeraj's was measured.
The Tokyo Olympics gold medallist then recorded 84.49m with his second attempt and was leading before Jena overtook him in his 3rd attempt with his Personal Best throw of 86.77m.
With that throw, he also qualified for the Paris Olympics. The qualification mark was 85.50.
But Neeraj didn't give up. He once again took the lead with a throw of 88.88m. Jena improved his personal best recorded a throw of 87.54m but that still fell a little short but helped him clinch silver.

Indian boxer Narender Berwal signed off with a bronze medal in the +92kg category at the Asian Games.
Narender went down 0-5 to Olympic and world championship medallist Kamshybek Kunkabayev of Kazakhstan in the semifinal to miss out on an Olympic quota.
After landing a few blows early on, Narender went into his shell. The Kazakh boxer asserted his authority taking the round 5-0.
In the next 6 minutes, Kunkabayev showed more urgency, landing punches at will as Narender looked clueless. Trailing on all cards, the Indian was probably trying to go for a knockout but that punch never came.
Meanwhile, in a bizarre incident, Sachin Siwach lost his 57kg quarterfinal 1-4 bout to Lyu Ping in three minutes and 7 seconds after the Chinese sustained a cut on his forehead following a clash of the head between the two boxers.
Ping had won the first round 4-1 and when it was clear he couldn't continue boxing due to the bleeding, the judges decided to rule the bout in favour of the Chinese.
