Assam police has launched a manhunt for one its officers after he was accused of taking obscene pictures of a minor girl inside a police station in Nalbari district. Inspector Biman Roy is believed to be on the run and the police has announced an reward for any information leading to his arrest. He has now been suspended.&nbsp;
Director General of Police, GP Singh, tweeted his condemnation on June 29.&nbsp;
"When we entered the police service at SVP National Police Academy Hyderabad, it was always taught to us that police station is a temple for all police personnel and the safest refuge for the citizens. Today I am deeply disheartened and anguished at the turn of events," he tweeted."Being convinced of the instant case being rarest or rare (sic), and as the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force of Assam, and in accordance with extant law &amp; rules, I have decided to dismiss Inspector (UB) Biman Roy from Assam Police," the tweet said. He also announced a reward for information about his whereabouts.
On June 21, a minor girl and a boy were taken into custody in a child marriage case. The girl has said that the inspector took objectionable photos of her in the station premise.
A case has been registered against Roy at the Nalbari police station for wrongful confinement of a person with the intent to insult the modesty of a woman. He has also been booked under sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act related to use of children for pornographic purpose.

Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani was arrested by Assam Police from Palanpur town in Gujarat on late Wednesday night over a tweet and taken to Assam by air in the early hours, officials said on Thursday.
The prominent Dalit leader from Gujarat was arrested soon after a First Information Report (FIR) under section 153A of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with offences related to promoting enmity between communities, was registered at Kokrajhar police station in Assam, said his aide Suresh Jat.
"As per a document shared by the officials of the Assam police, an FIR has been lodged over a tweet by Mevani few days back. However, the tweet has been withheld by Twitter. It was about Nathuram Godse. Mevani was first brought to Ahmedabad by road and then taken to Assam by air early today morning," he added.
Mevani is independent MLA from Vadgam seat in Banaskantha. He recently extended support to Congress.
In a statement, Mevani's office said he was arrested by Assam police from Palanpur circuit House at 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor and other Congress leaders rushed to Ahmedabad Airport after learning about his arrest and shouted slogans against the BJP government.
