Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Patwari Surjit Singh in Gurdaspur on bribery charges. Acting on a complaint, a successful sting operation was conducted. Legal proceedings under the Prevention of Corruption Act are underway against the accused.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Patwari Surjit Singh, posted at Qila Lal Singh in Gurdaspur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 20000.

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Patwari Surjit Singh, posted at Qila Lal Singh in Gurdaspur district for accepting a bribe of Rs 20000.
An official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Varinder Singh, a resident of village Qila Lal Singh in Gurdaspur. He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that his land was acquired by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for construction of expressway and the accused Patwari has demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for making a report in his favor to include three borewells on the land.
The spokesperson informed that after a preliminary enquiry into this complaint the VB team laid a trap during which the accused was caught red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.&nbsp;
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB police station, Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigations into this case was under progress.

Karnataka BJP MLA's son arrested by Lokayukta while receiving Rs 40 Lakhs bribe| Watch

According to the official source of Lokayukta, more than Rs 1.7 crore in cash was found at Prashanth Madal's office.

The anti-corruption wing of Lokayukta nabbed sitting Karnataka BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa's son while he was receiving a Rs 40 lakh bribe on Thursday. Prashanth Madal, son of the BJP MLA was caught by the Lokayukta officials while he was receiving the bribe at his office.
Notably, Madal Virupakshappa is the chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited. Lokayukta was on duty after getting a complaint about the demand for a bribe. According to the official source of Lokayukta, more than Rs 1.7 crore in cash was found at Prashanth Madal's office.
In a similar incident, a team of Lokayukta caught a clerk posted at Employees' State Insurance Corporation red-handed for accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on February 24, an official said. The accused clerk has been identified as Shubham Gupta. He was demanding a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a woman contractual employee posted in MPEB (Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board) in lieu of withdrawing her maternity leave money.&nbsp;

Mehul Choksi schemed, bribed senior Antigua cop to delay extradition: report

He said that Choksi has been scheming to illegally extend the court process in Antigua, by paying bribes to government officials, including senior Antigua police official, Adonis Henry.

One of India's most wanted fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi has been buying protection in Antigua by bribing a string of officials according to investigations conducted by Kenneth Rijock, a renowned financial crimes investigator. Rijock made shocking revelations in a news article on Blogger against Mehul Choksi's bribery and conspiracy in Antigua, where officials are interfering with Interpol's efforts to detain him for extradition to India.
He said that Choksi has been scheming to illegally extend the court process in Antigua, by paying bribes to government officials, including senior Antigua police official, Adonis Henry.
Multiple witnesses report that Choksi and Inspector Henry have been meeting at least three times a day at Al Porto, a Jolly Harbor restaurant reportedly owned by Choksi, wrote Rijock in his financial crime blog. Choksi not only reached out to Henry but also tried to influence Antigua magistrate Conliffe Clarke through illegal payments.

A court in Maldives found the former president Abdulla Yameen guilty of money laundering and accepting a bribe and sentenced him to 11 years in prison.
The Criminal Court of Maldives also ordered Yameen, 63, to pay a fine of USD 5 million.
The court found Yameen guilty of accepting money for leasing an island owned by the government. He ruled the Indian ocean archipelago nation, known as an exclusive tourist destination, from 2013 to 2018.
It gave him a seven-year sentence for money laundering and four years for accepting a bribe.
This was not the first time Yameen was found guilty. In a separate case in 2019, Yameen was found guilty of money laundering and sentenced to five years in prison.

Yameen lost a reelection bid in 2018 to current President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
During his time of office, he was accused of corruption, muzzling the media and persecuting political opponents.

As per reports the agency laid a trap wherein the JDC of CDSCO was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh from the Director of Synergy Network India Private Limited. The said Director was also caught.The bribe reportedly was to clear Biocon unit's injection by waiving phase-three clinical trial of Insulin Aspart injection, an underdevelopment product of Biocon Biologics"Phase 3 clinical trial is an important regulatory mechanism to assess the safety of a pharma product. Any attempt to waive them off can have serious public health safety repercussions," an official said
Searches were conducted at 11 places located at Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Patna and Bengaluru. The agency claims to have recovered alleged incriminating documents/articles.
Denying allegations of any wrongdoing, a spokesperson for Biocon Biologics said "All our product approvals are legitimate and backed by science and clinical data. Our bAspart is approved in Europe and many other countries. We follow due regulatory process for all our product approvals by DCGI. The entire application process in India is online and all meeting minutes are in public domain. We are co-operating with the investigation agency."
