Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty tendered her resignation from the party, citing differences with the local leadership.

Trinamool Congress' Mimi Chakraborty resigned as an MP from the Jadavpur constituency, citing differences with the local leadership in her constituency. She also claimed that she was being unnecessarily targeted by politicians. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is yet to accept her resignation. According to protocol, a resignation by a Lok Sabha MP has to be submitted to the Speaker. She won from Jadavpur constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.&nbsp;
"Politics is not for me. You have to promote someone here (in politics) if you are helping someone...Besides being a politician, I also work as an actor. I have equal responsibilities. If you join politics, you are criticised whether you work or not," she told reporters immedailty after handing in her resignation.
"I spoke with Mamata Banerjee regarding the issues I had. I wanted to tell her about my resignation from a party that gave me an opportunity to go ahead. I had also told her in 2022 about my resignation from the post of an MP. She had rejected it at that time. I will complete further process after whatever she says," she said.

The CBI has termed media reports attributed to it on its probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput as "speculative and not based on facts". In a statement late on Thursday evening, the CBI said it is conducting investigation into Sushant Rajput's death in a systematic and professional way. The agency stated that as a matter of policy, it does not share details of ongoing investigation. It further clarified that the&nbsp;CBI spokesperson or any team member has not shared any details of investigation with media. "The details being reported and attributed to CBI are not credible," it said.

New Delhi, PTI: The CBI has termed media reports attributed to it on its probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput as "speculative and not based on facts". In a statement issued late on Thursday evening, the CBI said it is conducting investigation into Sushant Rajput's death in a systematic and professional way.
"Certain media reports attributed to CBI investigation are speculative and not based on facts. It is reiterated that as a matter of policy, CBI does not share details of ongoing investigation," the agency said.
"CBI spokesperson or any team member has not shared any details of investigation with media. The details being reported and attributed to CBI are not credible," it said.
Sushant Rajput, 34, was found dead at his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.
The CBI had filed an FIR (First Information Repot) taking over the probe from Bihar Police into the alleged abetment to suicide case filed by the actor's father KK Singh in Patna against Sushant Rajput's friend Rhea Chakraborty and her family.
Sushant Singh's father in his complaint to Bihar Police had alleged that Chakraborty along with her family members had misappropriated Sushant Rajput's wealth, which was denied by Rhea Chakraborty in TV interviews.
The CBI Director has handed over the probe to the special investigation branch which is camping in Mumbai and has recorded statements of Rhea Chakraborty and her family members, met police and visited the crime scene.
