In a horrific incident, a 25-year-old woman who was feeding a stray dog by the footpath in Chandigarh was run over by a speeding SUV, according to the NDTV.
As per the report, the incident which took place on January 14 2023, late at night was caught on camera.&nbsp; The CCTV footage of the accident shows the victim, Tejashwita feeding a stray dog when a speeding SUV rams into her head-on. The woman was thrown into the air before she falls near a car.&nbsp;
Tejashwita's mother, who was reportedly at a distance feeding other dogs rushed to her help and informed police. Tejashwita is reportedly recovering in a hospital. However, the SUV driver is still at large, reported the NDTV.&nbsp;

Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh has lodged an FIR under sections 420, 406, and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code for receiving challans worth Rs. 83,000 for a Mercedes car he had sold back in 2014.

Jeev had sold the car for 35 lakhs to Nitin Jain in June 2014 via a car dealer named Tejinder Singh. The car, however, is still registered to Jeev Milkha's name as, despite the sale of the car, the new owner did not transfer the registration of the same.
The car is a 10-year-old diesel model which means that the car couldn't be registered in New Delhi. Jeev had issued legal notices and lodged a complaint for both the owner and the dealer regarding the notices he had been getting since 2015 and after receiving yet another one from Delhi Court, he had no option but to move the court in order to clear his name from the situation.

He said that an important day of 'Amrit Mahotsav' is coming on September 28 when the birth anniversary of Bhagat Singh will be celebrated.  "Just before his birth anniversary, as a tribute, an important decision has been taken, it has been decided that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh," Modi said.

The Punjab Police on Saturday said it has arrested an Army man in connection with the Chandigarh University case, in which it was alleged that a hostel mate recorded several objectionable videos of girl students in the common washroom.
Punjab Director General of Police Guarav Yadav said Sanjeev Singh was nabbed from Arunachal Pradesh.
"Crucial breakthrough in the Chandigarh University case with the assistance of the Army, Assam & Arunachal Pradesh Police. Accused Army personnel Sanjeev Singh arrested from Sela Pass, Arunachal Pradesh. Transit remand obtained from Ld CJM Bomdilla for production before Mohali court," said the DGP in a tweet.
He was suspected of blackmailing the accused woman student, said the DGP.
Yadav said based on forensic and digital evidence, a Mohali police team was dispatched to Arunachal Pradesh to arrest the accused.
Police also obtained a two-day transit remand of the accused from the court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM), Bomdila. "The guilty in this case will not be spared and justice will prevail," said the DGP.
Police had earlier arrested three people, a girl student and two men, from Himachal Pradesh.
Protests had rocked the university campus in Punjab's Mohali last week over allegations levelled by students that a hostel inmate recorded several objectionable videos of students in the common washroom.
Some students had even claimed that the videos were leaked. The university authorities, however, dismissed these allegations as "false and baseless".

"It is a sensitive matter and concerns the dignity of our sisters and daughters. We all, including the media, should be very cautious. It is also a test of ours as a society," Bains said in a tweet.

A 27-year-old son of IAS officer Sanjay Popli, currently under arrest in a graft case, died of bullet wounds in Chandigarh on Saturday, with police saying he committed suicide but family alleging foul play.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had earlier this week arrested IAS officer Sanjay Popli in a graft case for allegedly demanding bribe in exchange of clearing tenders for laying a sewerage pipeline in Nawanshahr.
Chandigarh's Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said after verifying things it has come to fore that the 27-year-old "has shot himself".
Further investigations are on, the SSP said, adding a licensed pistol was used in the incident.
In connection with the investigation of the case, a Vigilance team had come to the Popli's house and was present at the time of the incident, a neighbour and family friend told reporters.
On June 21, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested Popli for allegedly demanding one per cent commission as bribe for clearance of tenders for laying a sewerage pipeline at Nawanshahr.
An inconsolable Sanjay Popli's wife told reporters, "The Vigilance officials were pressuring us and they were even torturing my domestic help to give false statements in support of the case they have registered. My 27-year-old son is gone. He was a brilliant lawyer. They have snatched him".
"To build a false case, they snatched my son--Kartik Popli is gone," said Sanjay Popli's wife showing blood spots of her son on her hands.
"I want justice. I will move court," said the wailing woman, repeatedly crying "my son has been killed".
"(Punjab Chief Minister) Bhagwant Mann should answer," she said.
She said her husband Sanjay was due to appear before the court and a Vigilance team had visited their house.
"The Vigilance people took Kartik upstairs and when I went up they were mentally torturing my son," she said, while adding "even our mobile phones were snatched".
"My son has died...," she alleged.
A 51-year-old woman, a neighbour and family friend of Popli family, alleged that "Sanjay Popli was being pressured by the Vigilance that he should agree to the allegations levelled by them".
"Kartik Popli too was detained for hours," said the woman.

A 27-year-old son of IAS officer Sanjay Popli, currently under arrest in a graft case, died of bullet wounds in Chandigarh on Saturday, with police saying he committed suicide but family alleging foul play.
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had earlier this week arrested IAS officer Sanjay Popli in a graft case for allegedly demanding bribe in exchange of clearing tenders for laying a sewerage pipeline in Nawanshahr.
Chandigarh's Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said after verifying things it has come to fore that the 27-year-old "has shot himself".
Further investigations are on, the SSP said, adding a licensed pistol was used in the incident.
In connection with the investigation of the case, a Vigilance team had come to the Popli's house and was present at the time of the incident, a neighbour and family friend told reporters.
On June 21, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested Popli for allegedly demanding one per cent commission as bribe for clearance of tenders for laying a sewerage pipeline at Nawanshahr.

An inconsolable Sanjay Popli's wife told reporters, "The Vigilance officials were pressuring us and they were even torturing my domestic help to give false statements in support of the case they have registered. My 27-year-old son is gone. He was a brilliant lawyer. They have snatched him".
"To build a false case, they snatched my son--Kartik Popli is gone," said Sanjay Popli's wife showing blood spots of her son on her hands.
"I want justice. I will move court," said the wailing woman, repeatedly crying "my son has been killed".
"(Punjab Chief Minister) Bhagwant Mann should answer," she said.
She said her husband Sanjay was due to appear before the court and a Vigilance team had visited their house.
"The Vigilance people took Kartik upstairs and when I went up they were mentally torturing my son," she said, while adding "even our mobile phones were snatched".
"My son has died...," she alleged.
A 51-year-old woman, a neighbour and family friend of Popli family, alleged that "Sanjay Popli was being pressured by the Vigilance that he should agree to the allegations levelled by them".
"Kartik Popli too was detained for hours," said the woman.&nbsp;

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday moved a resolution in the Assembly seeking immediate transfer of Chandigarh to the state, while accusing the Centre of trying to upset the balance in the adminstration of the Union Territory as well as common assets.
The one-day special session comes amid a political row sparked by Union Home Minister Amit Shah's announcement that central service rules will apply to the employees of Chandigarh.
Moving the resolution in the House, Mann asked the Centre to honour the principles of federalism enshrined in the Constitution and not to take any steps which may disturb the balance of the administration of Chandigarh and that of other common assets &ldquo;Punjab was reorganised through the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966 wherein, the state of Punjab was reorganised into the state of Haryana, Union Territory of Chandigarh and some parts of Punjab were given to the then Union Territory of Himachal Pradesh," the resolution stated.
"Since then a balance was maintained in the administration of common assets like Bhakra Beas Management Board, by way of giving management positions in some proportion to the nominees of state of Punjab and state of Haryana.Through many of its recent actions the central government has been trying to upset this balance,&rdquo; it said.
The central government has advertised the posts of members of BBMB to officers of all states and central government, whereas these posts were traditionally filled up by officers from Punjab and Haryana. Similarly, Chandigarh administration has always been managed by officers of Punjab and Haryana in the ratio of 60:40, the resolution said.
"However, recently central government has posted officers from outside to Chandigarh and has introduced central civil service rules for employees of Chandigarh administration, which goes completely against the understanding in the past.
"Chandigarh city was created as the capital of Punjab. In all past precedents whenever a state has been divided, the capital remain with the parent sate. Punjab, therefore, has been laying its claim for complete transfer of Chandigarh to Punjab," the resolution state.
In the past, this House has passed a number of resolutions urging the Central government to transfer Chandigarh to Punjab, Mann noted.
"For maintaining harmony and taking the sentiments of people into account, this House once again recommends to the state government to raise the matter with Central government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab,&rdquo; it said.
"This House also requests the central government to honour the principles of federalism enshrined in our Constitution and not to take any steps which may disturb the balance the administration of Chandigarh and that of other common assets like BBMB,&rdquo; said the resolution.

Notably, AAP is contesting the Chandigarh civic polls for the first time defeating the sitting mayor, Ravi Kant Sharma of the BJP. This comes as a major boost for AAP ahead of the Punjab Assembly Polls early next year.

In a statement, AAP leader Raghav Chadha said that this was a victory of Kejriwal's model of governance as people were yearning for a change for years.
The number of municipal wards have been increased from 26 to 35 this time and the polling percentage stood at 60.45 percent for the polls which were held on December 24.
