In the city of Cologne, climate activists glued themselves to a main street, while in Dusseldorf, they stuck themselves to a government building. Near Rommerskirchen, over a hundred protestors occupied coal railroad tracks.
In addition, several people occupied a giant digger at the coal mine of Inden, while hundreds of other protesters joined a protest march near Luetzerath. The village itself was evacuated by the police in recent days and is sealed off.
Thunberg had traveled to western Germany to participate in weekend demonstrations against the expanded mine and also took part in Tuesday's protest near Luetzerath. Police in nearby Aachen said a group of around 50 protesters got dangerously close to the rim of the mine and did not want to leave despite being asked to do so.

ED investigation relates to a massive scam in which an illegal levy of Rs 25 was being extorted for every tonne of coal transported by a cartel involving senior bureaucrats, businessmen, politicians and middlemen&nbsp;

&nbsp;Flats, jewellery, cash, coal washeries and plots belonging to arrested Chhattisgarh government bureaucrats like Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel's Deputy Secretary Saumya Chaurasia, IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi and others have been attached in the alleged coal levy scam money laundering case, the ED said Saturday.
The federal probe agency issued a provisional order for attachment of some movable and 91 immovable properties on Friday under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The assets are worth a total Rs 152.31 crore, the Enforcement Directorate said in a statement.
The frozen assets include 65 properties belonging to coal trader and "main kingpin" in the case Suryakant Tiwari, 21 properties of Chaurasia, a powerful bureaucrat of the state administrative service posted in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), and five assets of 2009-batch IAS officer Sameer Vishnoi apart from that of another coal businessman of Chhattisgarh, Sunil Agarwal and some others.
"The properties include cash, jewellery, flats, coal washeries and plots of land located in Chhattisgarh," the ED said.

All the four, apart from another businessman Laxmikant Tiwari (uncle of Suryakant Tiwari), have been arrested by the ED in the case.
The money laundering case stems from an Income Tax department complaint.
The ED investigation relates to "a massive scam in which illegal levy of Rs 25 was being extorted for every tonne of coal transported in Chhattisgarh by a cartel involving senior bureaucrats, businessmen, politicians and middlemen", the agency has said.

The death toll from a coal mine explosion in northern Turkey rose to at least 40 people Saturday, officials said.
Desperate relatives had waited all night in the cold outside the state-owned TTK Amasra Muessese Mudurlugu mine in the town of Amasra, in the Black Sea coastal province of Bartin, hoping for news. There were 110 miners working in the shaft when the explosion occurred Friday evening.
Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said Saturday that 40 miners were confirmed dead. Eleven were injured and hospitalised, while 58 others managed to get out of the mine on their own or were rescued unharmed. The status of one remaining miner was unclear.
Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said rescue efforts were almost complete. Earlier he had said that a fire was still burning in the mine's gallery where more than a dozen miners had been trapped. Work to isolate and cool the fire continued, he said.

Preliminary assessments indicated that the explosion was likely caused by firedamp, which is a reference to flammable gases found in coal mines, Donmez said overnight.
A miner who works the day shift said he saw the news and hurried to the site to help with the rescue. &ldquo;We saw a frightful scene, it cannot be described, it's very sad,&rdquo; said Celal Kara, 40. &ldquo;They're all my friends... they all had dreams," the miner of 14 years said after exiting the mine, his face covered in soot.
Ambulances were on standby at the site. Rescue teams were dispatched to the area, including from neighbouring provinces, Turkey's disaster management agency, AFAD, said.
Turkey's president was expected to visit Amasra on Saturday.
