Oldest Hebrew Bible to go up for sale for the first time in 30 years

Composed of 24 books, the Hebrew Bible makes up the foundation for Judaism as well as Christianity, in which these texts are referred to as the Old Testament

The Codex Sassoon was handwritten by one scribe on 792 pages.

Sotheby's is auctioning off the oldest and most complete Hebrew Bible ever discovered.
The Codex Sassoon was written in the late ninth to early tenth century.
Composed of 24 books, the Hebrew Bible makes up the foundation for Judaism as well as Christianity, in which these texts are referred to as the Old Testament.
Sotheby's senior consultant, Sharon Liberman Mintz said the condition of the book is astounding.
Coming to auction for the first time in more than 30 years, the book is expected to fetch between $30 and 50 million. The auction will be in May.
Liberman Mintz said the Codex Sassoon is most valuable printed manuscript or historical document by estimate ever offered at auction.
