The Supreme Court on October 17 refused the rights of same-sex couples to enter into marriages or have civil unions leaving members of the LGBTQIA+ community disappointed.&nbsp;
However, one of the couples who petitioned for same-sex marriage rights decided to take their relationship forward despite the setback.&nbsp;
Utkarsh Saxena, a lawyer, and&nbsp; Ananya Kotia, an economist, shared a picture of them getting engaged in front of the Supreme Court on October 18.&nbsp;
Ananya shared the post with a caption that read, "Yesterday hurt. Today, Utkarsh and I went back to the court that denied our rights and exchanged rings. So this week wasn't about a legal loss, but our engagement. We'll return to fight another day."
As social media users came across this post, they started congratulating them.&nbsp;

A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Kansas sheds light on the impact of social media on couples' happiness. After surveying over 300 couples and analyzing their social media habits, the study found a link between social media usage and relationship satisfaction.
The research revealed that couples who consistently post on social media platforms tend to experience lower levels of happiness compared to their counterparts who refrain from frequent posting. The reason behind this phenomenon lies in the tendency of these couples to constantly compare their relationship to others. The barrage of seemingly perfect moments and happy pictures from other couples can lead to feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. When the highlight reels of others' relationships are continuously on display, it becomes challenging not to draw comparisons, which may strain the dynamics of their own relationship.
On the other hand, the study highlighted that couples who post less often are less likely to indulge in the detrimental habit of comparing themselves to others. As a result, they reported feeling less pressured to maintain a picture-perfect facade. By avoiding the constant pressure to showcase an idealized version of their relationship, these couples are more inclined to embrace authenticity and genuine happiness.
In essence, the research suggests that a conscious reduction in social media usage can foster a healthier and happier relationship. Instead of getting caught up in the curated lives of others, couples can focus on nurturing their bond and cherishing the real, imperfect, yet beautiful moments they share.&nbsp;

A Gurugram couple has been arrested for allegedly torturing their 14-year-old domestic help.
Police said the teen girl suffered horrific abuse by the employers over the last few months. According to media reports, the girl was allegedly beaten with hot tongs and sticks while also starved by the couple for not working properly.
Officials said the Jharkhand teen had wounds all over her body, and her medical examination is being done to ascertain if she was sexually harassed.
The couple had hired the girl last year to look after their 3.5-year-old daughter, and reports of her abuse came to the fore after pictures of her bruises went viral on social media. An NGO lodged a complaint against the couple based on the photos.
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who identifies herself as an activist on her Twitter bio in a post on February 7 shared victim's photos with injuries claiming that the 14-year-old was being brutally tortured by her employers.&nbsp;
The couple has been booked under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences or POCSO Act.

A shocking case has been reported at West Delhi's Rajouri Garden where a housemaid was allegedly assaulted by the couple on Sunday. According to the police the 48-year-old woman laboured as a house help and was beaten up by the accused couple who have chopped her hair as well, Police recorded the victim's statement.
A case has been registered under voluntarily causing hurt, wrongful confinement, and assault The victim is identified as Rajni who hails from Siliguri in West Bengal and works in Delhi as domestic help.
The placement agency owner reportedly said that the couple dropped Rajni at his office in very poor condition. After some time he noticed that she was lying in her urine and wasn't able to move. He immediately rushed to the Safdarjung hospital where Rajni claims on Sunday the couple dragged her out of her room and chopped off her hair. She had injuries all over her body, he added. Police said the medical examination report of Safdarjung Hospital asserted that she had suffered from “physical assault”, “head trauma, and was “vomiting”. She also had injuries on her eyes, face, limbs, abdomen along with other body parts.Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ghanshyam Bansal said that all efforts are being made to arrest the accused couple.
