Despite this setback, the plaintiffs may revive their monetary damages claims when a final judgment is reached, and they can also pursue other reliefs, such as limiting certain data collection practices. Google has denied any wrongdoing, asserting that its users consented to data collection. While the plaintiffs cannot seek monetary damages as a class, they still have the opportunity to pursue other claims against the company. A jury trial is scheduled for November 2023.

A court at Malegaon in Maharashtra's Nashik district has convicted a Muslim man in a case of road accident brawl but instead of imprisonment, it has ordered him to plant two trees and offer namaz (prayers) five times a day for 21 days.
Magistrate Tejwant Singh Sandhu in the order passed on February 27 noted that provisions of the Probation of Offenders Act granted powers to a magistrate to release a convict after admonition or appropriate warning to ensure he or she does not repeat the offence.
The court said in the present case, mere warning would not be sufficient and it is important the convict remembers his conviction so that he does not repeat it.
"According to me, giving appropriate warning means, to give an understanding that the crime had been committed, the accused has been proven guilty and he remembers the same so that he does not repeat the offence again,&rdquo; the order said.
The 30-year-old convict, Rauf Khan, was booked in a 2010 case for allegedly assaulting a man and hurting him over a road accident brawl.
The court while convicting him in the case noted that during trial, Khan had said he was not offering regular namaz.
In view of this, the court ordered him to offer namaz five times a day for 21 days starting from February 28, plant two trees in the Sonapura Masjid premises and also care for the trees.
Khan was booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The court held Khan guilty under IPC Section 323 and acquitted him of the other charges.

Indian Army to court martial soldier caught spying for Pak's ISI: report

The Army is going to start summary court-martial proceedings against its soldier who was allegedly caught passing on secret information to an ISI agent- posted in the Pakistan embassy in the national capital, about military activities along the northern borders.
"The accused Signalman (washerman) Alim Khan was posted in a formation close to the border with China in the field area and was allegedly caught supplying secret information to the Pakistani spy posted in their embassy in New Delhi. The summary court-martial proceedings against the soldier will begin in the next couple of days," the defence sources told ANI.
The soldier was caught by the security agencies supplying secret information to the Pakistani spy- Abid Husain alias Naik Abid- a Pakistani national working in the High Commission for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in the national capital. The soldier was also given Rs 15,000 by the Pakistan embassy official for information that he was sharing with them.

Telangana MLA poaching case: Court rejects Cyberabad police plea seeking remand of 3 accused

A local court in Hyderabad has rejected the remand of three people who were arrested by Cyberabad Police on charges of allegedly trying to coax four TRS legislators into defecting, over not following the procedure of issuing a notice before the arrest.
Based on a complaint by Pilot Rohith Reddy, one of the legislators, cases under relevant sections-criminal conspiracy, offering bribe and Prevention of Corruption Act-1988- were filed against the trio-Ramachandra Bharati@ Satish Sharma, Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy on October 26 night.
They were arrested on Thursday and later in the night produced before a judge of a court for anti-corruption cases.
The judge instructed the police to issue notices under Section 41 Cr PC and ordered the release of the accused.

A special Mumbai court extended Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut's judicial custody by another 14 days in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai 'chawl', on Monday.
Raut was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on August 1 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with alleged financial irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra Chawl (row tenement) in suburban Goregaon.
He was produced before special PMLA judge MG Deshpande at the end of his judicial remand on Monday.
Raut will remain in jail till 19 September 2022.&nbsp;

Twitter has moved the Karnataka high court challenging the central government's order seeking withdrawal of certain content from its platform that allegedly violate Section 69A of the IT Act.
In its writ petition, the microblogging site has reportedly called the blocking orders "overbroad and arbitrary".
The accounts and content that Twitter has been asked to pull down include those pertaining to the nationwide farmers' protest against the three farm laws passed by the Centre in 2020, COVID-19 management, and so on. 
In a missive sent of June 27, the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) gave Twitter “one last opportunity” to comply with its blocking orders. The ministry warned that if content flagged by it is not taken down by the microblogging platform, the company will risk losing its immunity as an intermediary. The deadline ended on July 4.
The move came after the IT ministry proposed fresh amendments to rules governing intermediaries such as Facebook and Twitter. Key amendments include a proposal to set up government-appointed grievance committees with the power to review and revoke content moderation decisions taken by these companies.

If we could change government... the Babri Masjid issue has been adjudicated by the courts, and now Gyanvapi Mosque issue has erupted. You are free to disagree with me," he added.
