Zerodha Founder and CEO Nikhil Kamath has raised the all important issue of cyber fraud and how its one of the biggest financial risks.&nbsp; While the rise in digital transactions has a lot of benefits, it makes us much more vulnerable to online fraud. There has been a massive spike in the number of financial cyber scams.&nbsp;
In a series of tweets, Nithin Kamath has listed out various way to secure oneself against cyber crimes. One of the most important ways to reduce the odds of being a cyber fraud victim is to enable two-factor authentication wherever possible.&nbsp; The two-factor authentication is protecting an account additionally with Biometric authorization, TOTP (time based expiring codes) along with a password.&nbsp;

What's 2FA?The first factor in a login is a password you remember, but it has the risk of being easily compromised. 2FA is an additional factor to secure your account. Biometric authorization, TOTP (time based expiring codes) etc. makes account compromise much harder.

Firstly, you need actual technologists who also understand UX and user behaviour to design measures to mitigate risks. You should never be overconfident and should always be paranoid about security. Some simple, common sense measures we follow at @zerodhaonline.

<li>2. Strict role based access. Everyone gets least access and least privilege by default.</li>
<li>Nothing is connected to internet by default &amp; access is over &ldquo;zero trust&rdquo; networks. Even incoming external e-mail for employees is only available where necessary</li>
<li>Botnet &amp; DDoS protection in front of all internet facing systems. Realtime monitoring and analysis systems</li>

He has also advised to be vigilant all the time and remain almost paranoid about all digital interactions. However, Kamath points out that there is no way to ensure zero cyber risks and that "a significant number of hacks in the world involve exploiting human weaknesses."&nbsp;
"In a world of NFTs, crypto, AI, the metaverse, etc., we need to be almost paranoid about all digital interactions. Also, to always remember that if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is", he adds.&nbsp;&nbsp;

As India gears up to host G20 Summit in 2023, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has issued an alert over possible cyber attacks during the Summit.&nbsp;
According to an Indian Express report, MHA has shared a list of reported historically targeted G20 Summitsalong with potential attackers with all ministries and departments.
The ministry has reportedly also informed ministries about findings of country&rsquo;s premier cybersecurity agency, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).

Nearly a month since a cyberattack hit government-linked portals, the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu continues to function offline.&nbsp;
The Guardian reported that officials have switched to using private laptops and pen and paper to go about day-to-day functions. The attack affected websites of the country's parliament, police and the prime minister's office.&nbsp;
It also hacked the email system, intranet and online databases of schools, hospitals and other emergency services, the BBC reported. &nbsp;
Citizens and officials alike have resorted to accessing online Yellow Pages for finding contact numbers and private email accounts for basic communication. Some departments are reportedly functioning from their Facebook pages and Twitter.&nbsp;
With departments struggling to stay connected, impromptu solutions are being implemented for communication but outer islands government offices are suffering sharp delay in services, said The Guardian report.&nbsp;
Essentially anyone with a gov.vu email or domain has been affected, locals told the BBC. Private servers like airlines and hotel websites were not affected and business has continued as usual.&nbsp;
The Vanuatu government has remained tight-lipped about the malware attack however an Australian newspaper reported that the hackers demanded a ransom which the government refused to pay.&nbsp;
Problems with the government servers were noticed about a month ago when emails with public IDs were bouncing back and websites became inaccessible and some being redirected to sites of hackers believed to be behind the attack, according to multiple reports.&nbsp;
While the government says that the attack occurred on November 5, sources of the Vanuatu and Australian governments told The Guardian that systems went down on October 30. &nbsp;

But an Australian official says that they recognised the attack having hallmarks of a cyber attack and not being caused by weather.&nbsp;
Matters grew worse once internal communication started becoming tougher each passing day. Prime Minister Kalsakau officially assumed office on November 4. And one day later the government acknoweldged the problem.
The present system can be fixed by upgrades to the software and uploading files on the cloud for better management, says an analyst working with the Ministry of Finance. However, local officials lack the expertise to do so and require 'outside assistance'. Reports say that the country has sought help from its aid partner Australia to restore the systems. There is no concrete reason as to why Vanuatu was targeted but as per a BBC report, there have been speculations that the hack may have been carried out from Indonesia. For a long time now, says the report that Vanuatu has supported the independence demands of Indonesian province of West Papua. The Indonesian military has been accused of human rights abuses in the region.&nbsp; The report goes on to say that another reason could be Vanuatu's position in the Pacific region, the country has key relations with the US, China, Australia and New Zealand.&nbsp; Recently, Vanuatu has developed close ties with China. Beijing has invested heavily in Port Vila and also has an embassy in the capital. While Washington's representation is located in Papua New Guinea, accessible via a 3-hour flight.&nbsp; Vanuatu's longest diplomatic relation, however, has been with Australia, its largest aid donor and closest security partner.&nbsp;

Tata Power Company Limited had a cyber attack on its IT infrastructure impacting some of its IT systems, a BSE filing said.
The company has taken steps to retrieve and restore the systems, it informed.
All critical operational systems are functioning; however, as a measure of abundant precaution, restricted access and preventive checks have been put in place for employee and customer facing portals and touch points, it added.

SpiceJet stated that ops were normalised, passengers took to Twitter to complain about delays and lack of information.

Customers of India&rsquo;s largest bank SBI&nbsp;have been the target&nbsp;with a phishing scam where hackers have flooded them with suspicious text messages&nbsp;asking them to redeem their SBI credit points worth Rs 9,870.&nbsp;The link within the text messages redirects the user to a fake website where the user is asked to submit personal information along with sensitive financial details like card number, expiry date, CVV and&nbsp;Mpin&nbsp;in a 'State Bank of India Fill Your Details' form.&nbsp;After the form is submitted, the user is directed to a "thank you" page.&nbsp;CyberPeace&nbsp;Foundation, the think tank and&nbsp;Autobot&nbsp;Infosec Private Ltd carried out an investigation which revealed multiple details to prove that the entire thing is a phishing attack.&nbsp;"The domain name of the website can be traced to India, and the registrant state was found to be Tamil Nadu," the report mentioned&nbsp;
