The UK government was the host of the G7 summit this year. The charity called out for support from the leaders of the world to generate more help for millions around the world who are losing their homes to extreme climate change, such as storms and floods.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s stories like these that highlight why we have asked three things of G7 last week. First, more support worldwide for emergency shelter after disaster. Second, more support for long-term durable homes that can survive extreme weather conditions. Hitting back at the BJP's criticism over the duration of his visit to cyclone-hit Konkan region of Maharashtra, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took a dig at PM's aerial survey of damage in Gujarat. The CM said that he at least took stock of the situation on the ground and not just conducted an aerial survey in a helicopter.
"It's okay if my tour lasted four hours. At least I am on the ground taking stock of the situation and not in a helicopter for a photo session. I am a photographer myself," the CM said.&nbsp;
His remarks were apparently aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently conducted an aerial survey in Gujarat, where cyclone Tauktae caused considerable damage earlier this week.

A woman in Mumbai had a narrow escape when a huge tree fell on a road she was crossing. The tree fell as heavy winds and rain lashed Mumbai during Cyclone Tauktae on Monday. The woman fortunately managed to move away from the spot just in time as a tree fell there. A number of trees were uprooted as Mumbai witnessed winds at the speed of 115 km per hour. As a&nbsp;result of the cyclone,&nbsp;Mumbai received heavy rainfall and strong winds throughout the day on Monday. Six people died and 9 were injured in Maharashtra in incidents related to the cyclone.

The Navy had deployed three of its frontline warships, INS Kolkata, INS Kochi and INS Talwar after receiving messages to rescue 410 people on board two barges off the Mumbai coast on Monday.
&lsquo;The Search and Rescue (SAR) operations continued throughout the night and a total of 146 persons from Barge P305 have been rescued till 6 am on Tuesday&rsquo;, the official said.
The Navy on Tuesday morning also deployed the P-8I long-range, multimission maritime patrol aircraft to join the search and rescue operations, the official said.
