Bata India, one of the leading footwear retailers and manufacturers secured the rights to manufacture and sell the renowned lifestyle brand Nine West in India. The company has entered into a licensing and manufacturing agreement with Authentic Brands Group, a global brand development and marketing powerhouse.
Under this collaboration, Bata India has gained exclusive rights to manufacture, market, and distribute Nine West shoes and accessories throughout India via its extensive network of stores. Nine West, a premium brand renowned for its stylish footwear, bags, and watches, will now be readily accessible to Indian consumers through Bata's retail outlets.
Authentic Brands Group boasts an impressive portfolio of over 40 brands, including popular names like Reebok, Brooks Brothers, Ted Baker, and Forever 21. With a vast retail presence in more than 150 countries, Authentic Brands serves as a bridge connecting brands with partners, operators, distributors, and retailers worldwide.
Bata India, with a robust fiscal performance in 2023, reported revenue from operations totaling ₹3,451 crore. The company operates four manufacturing facilities in the country and maintains a strong retail presence through 2,050 stores across various cities. In the last fiscal year, Bata India successfully sold 48.46 million pairs of footwear.
This latest move aligns with Bata India's strategic initiatives focused on casualization and premiumization of its product portfolio. Alongside Nine West, the company also offers other premium brands such as Hush Puppies, Marie Claire, and Red Label, catering to diverse consumer preferences.

Air India's jumbo deal to buy 500 planes from Boeing and Airbus sealed: report

Air India has sealed a mega deal for about 500 new planes worth more than $100 billion at list prices, according to a NDTV reported, citing Reuters.
As per the report, the deal could be announced as early as next week and is split equally between France's Airbus and rival planemaker Boeing.&nbsp;
In its jumbo deal, Air India has agreed to purchase 250 Airbus planes, and 220 Boeing aircraft apart from 10 777Xs.
The report further said, Airbus and Air India signed the agreement on Friday. However, Boeing agreed its deal with the airline on Jan. 27.&nbsp;

In a further impetus to self-reliance in defence production, the Defence Ministry has signed a contract with BrahMos Aerospace for acquisition of additional dual-role capable surface-to-surface BrahMos missiles at an approximate cost of Rs 1,700 crore under the 'Buy-Indian' category.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry said the induction of these dual-role capable missiles is going to "significantly enhance" the operational capability of Indian Navy fleet assets.
BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL) is a joint venture between India and Russia, making crucial contribution to augment the new generation surface-to-surface missiles (SSMs) with enhanced range and dual role capability for land as well as anti-ship attacks, it said.  "Providing further impetus to Aatmanirbharta in defence production, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) signed a contract today with M/s BrahMos Aerospace Pvt. Ltd. (BAPL) for acquisition of additional dual-role capable Surface to Surface BrahMos missiles at an overall approximate cost of Rs 1,700 Crore under 'Buy-Indian Category'," the statement said. 
This contract is going to give further boost to indigenous production of critical weapon system and ammunition with active participation of indigenous industry, it added.
