Shivakumar earlier claimed that some people in Karnataka were getting the ritual done, and that 'aghoris' were being consulted for it.

The Kerala government on Saturday reiterated that no animal sacrifice was held near a temple in the northern part of the state as claimed by Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
Kerala Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan said that Shivakumar had made a huge allegation that animal sacrifice was performed near the Rajarajeshwara temple at Taliparamba in Kannur district of the state against him, CM Siddaramaiah and the Congress government in Karnataka.
"We investigated the claim and also contacted the Malabar Devaswom Board. The preliminary report we got states that nothing like that has happened in or near the temple. The Devaswom Board also confirmed it," the minister said.
He said that it needs to be examined why Shivakumar made such an allegation.
Radhakrishnan also said that the government was investigating whether anything as alleged by the Karnataka Deputy CM happened anywhere else in Kerala, even though according to initial reports such an incident has not occurred in the state.
He also said that animal sacrifices were prohibited by law since 1968 and therefore, it was unlikely that it took place in Kerala.
The managing committee of the temple in question had on Friday refuted Shivakumar's allegations and termed his claims as 100 per cent false.
The Special Branch has also given a report to the State Police Chief stating there is no evidence of any animal sacrifice taking place near a temple in Kerala as claimed by the Deputy CM of Karnataka.
Shivakumar on Thursday had claimed that a ritual named "Shatru Bhairavi Yaga", which involves the sacrifice of animals, was performed at a temple in Kerala, targeting him, Siddaramaiah and the Congress government in Karnataka.
Without revealing any names, he had alleged that some political people in Karnataka were getting the ritual done, and that 'aghoris' (monastic order of ascetic Shaivite sadhus) were being consulted for it.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Saturday said he has received an Income Tax notice though the case against him was a &lsquo;settled matter&rsquo;.
Accusing the Centre of harassing the opposition, the Kanakapura MLA and state Congress chief said the BJP was afraid of the Congress and the INDIA bloc.
&ldquo;I too got a notice last night from the Income Tax, which is already a settled matter. I was shocked, as well as my personal assistant and all,&rdquo; Shivakumar said.
The DCM said, &ldquo;The I-T officials were going to all the places even though the matter is in the court.&rdquo;
There are many cases involving BJP leaders against whom no action is supposed to be taken, he said, but refused to make the details of the cases public.
"I don&rsquo;t want to mention, including (cases against) sitting union minister from Karnataka, but for the last four-or-five years, no action has been taken. Nothing has been there. No witnesses have been called, no chargesheets have been filed,&rdquo; Shivakumar noted

The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed money laundering charges against Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had booked Shivakumar for alleged offences under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act in 2018.&nbsp;
The case was based on a charge sheet filed by the Income Tax Department before a special court in Bengaluru, accusing Shivakumar and his alleged associate SK Sharma of tax evasion and 'hawala' transactions worth crores of rupees.
The Congress leader was arrested by the ED in September 2019 and sent to Tihar Jail. The Delhi High Court granted him bail a month later on a Rs 25-lakh bond, barring him from leaving the country.
Throughout the legal saga, Shivakumar maintained that he was innocent, and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of political vendetta.

Congress leader DK Shivakumar, one of the party's five observers sent to Himachal, categorically brushed aside rumours of Sukhwinder Sukhu's government falling in the state, a day after six of its MLAs were suspended for cross-voting during Rajya Sabha elections.
In a press meet on February 29, Shivakumar, who appeared with CM Sukku, Congress leader Pratibha Singh, and other members, said that all issues have been sorted out and exuded confidence in the Congress government completing its five-year term in Himachal Pradesh.
"Our CM accepted that some failure has happened. But it will not continue further. We have spoken to all the MLAs personally. We have spoken to the PCC president, CM. One round of discussion will happen later. So all of them have sorted out all their differences. They'll work together... We are forming a coordination committee between the party and the government with five to six members....They will all work together to save the party and save the government," Shivakumar said.
Earlier, Pratibha Singh, wife of former Himachal CM Virbhadra Singh, said it was natural for MLAs to be upset, seemingly backing the six rebel MLAs who had cross-voted in the Rajya Sabha elections.
"Definitely, why not? When it has been more than a year and you take no cognizance or listen to them, it is natural for them to be upset. Had you sat them down, talked to them, and found out a solution, this situation would not have occurred," she said.
Following the disqualification of the rebel legislators, the effective strength of the House has reduced from 68 to 62 while the number of Congress MLAs has shrunk from 40 to 34.
It is for the first time in the history of Himachal Pradesh that any MLA has been disqualified under the anti-defection law aimed at checking defections.
The disqualified MLAs are Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar Bhutoo, Ravi Thakur and Chetanya Sharma.
