Five people were injured in an explosion at a popular eatery joint in Bengaluru's Whitefield area. It is not known what caused the explosion at The Rameshwaram Cafe, but police suspect that the minor blast might have been triggered by to short-circuit or a gas cylinder.
The explosion at Rameshwaram Cafe at Kundanahalli led to a blaze. Police and Fire personnel have rushed to the spot.
"We received a call about a cylinder blast in Rameshwaram cafe. Immediately, a fire engine was rushed to the spot. Initial suspicions are that it is a cylinder blast. However, it is being ascertained. It is a minor blast and we have shifted those injured to the hospital. The incident occurred between 1.30 and 2 pm. We are probing it from all angles," a police officer told PTI news agency.
Divya Raghavendra, the founder and managing director of the cafe, told the Deccan Herald newspaper that two blasts occurred in the handwash area and there were no LPG cylinders there. Police said that three of the injured were employees of the cafe.
Police, along with the forensic team, are currently on the spot. &nbsp;

Around 500 locals staying in the vicinity were evacuated ahead of the operation. Sea traffic was diverted and the area was secured during the removal of 690 kg explosives, as per reports.

Thirteen people were taken to hospitals after an explosion at a metal factory near Oakwood, Ohio, according to Captain Brian DiRocco with the Oakwood Village Fire Department.
The explosion and fire occurred around 3 p.m. Monday and left debris scattered around the area, DiRocco said.
Several fire departments responded to a large fire at the scene and one person was confirmed dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is still undetermined according to DiRocco. &ldquo;The interior of the building, it&rsquo;s pretty catastrophic, like right now, we were working this morning with a structural engineer to see where it was safe for us to conduct our investigation. They gave us some parameters on where we could and couldn&rsquo;t go within the building but the damage is pretty extensive. &ldquo; he said.

Explosion near Kabul military airfield, several killed

An explosion at the entrance to a military airfield in the Afghan capital killed and wounded several people on Sunday, an official told AFP.
The cause of the blast at the gate of the facility next to Kabul's international airport was unclear, interior ministry spokesman Abdul Nafy Takor said.
"A number of our compatriots have been martyred and wounded in the blast," Takor said, adding that authorities were investigating the incident.

A moving autorickshaw exploded here on Saturday, causing fire and heavy smoke, and the driver and a passenger were among those who sustained burn injuries.
While CCTV visuals from the location, shared by police, showed the autorickshaw catching fire following what appeared to be a minor explosion, a police official, however, did not confirm if it was a 'blast.'
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar rushed to the spot and told reporters after inspection that there was 'a fire' in the autorickshaw and there is no need for panic. He appealed against spreading rumours.
Kumar said fire was noticed by people in the autorickshaw and the passenger and driver were among those who sustained injuries and they were rushed to a hospital. When asked whether it was a blast, he said: "We don't know anything prima facie." If he had information, he would have shared with journalists, the official said.
"We have called the Special team and the FSL (Forensic Science Lab) team to verify the reasons behind the incident. Some people have got injuries. They are being treated for burns,&rdquo; the police commissioner said. On the condition of the injured, the police commissioner said he has not spoken to hospital authorities.

Kumar said the autorickshaw driver was undergoing treatment and he could comment only after talking to him.
The police commissioner appealed to people to not panic. "There is no need for people to panic. There is no need to create confusion and spread rumours through social media. I will straightaway share the information with you whatever information we get," he said.&nbsp;

Turkey's media watchdog imposed a temporary media ban on reporting of the explosion, which means broadcasters cannot show videos of the moment of the blast or its aftermath. The Supreme Board of Radio and Television has imposed similar bans in the past, following attacks, accidents and some political issues.
A video posted online showed flames erupting and a loud bang, as pedestrians turned and ran away.

An explosion occurred on railway tracks here on Sunday, hours before the Asarwa-Udaipur express train was supposed to pass, police said.
Due to the disruption, the train has been halted at Dungarpur, a Railways spokesperson said.
Superintendent of Police, Udaipur, Vikas Sharma said all angles, including sabotage, are being probed and the work to restore the tracks has started.
The explosion occurred near Kewda ki Naal under Jawar Mines Police Station of Udaipur.

The death toll from a coal mine explosion in northern Turkey rose to at least 40 people Saturday, officials said.
Desperate relatives had waited all night in the cold outside the state-owned TTK Amasra Muessese Mudurlugu mine in the town of Amasra, in the Black Sea coastal province of Bartin, hoping for news. There were 110 miners working in the shaft when the explosion occurred Friday evening.
Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said Saturday that 40 miners were confirmed dead. Eleven were injured and hospitalised, while 58 others managed to get out of the mine on their own or were rescued unharmed. The status of one remaining miner was unclear.
Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said rescue efforts were almost complete. Earlier he had said that a fire was still burning in the mine's gallery where more than a dozen miners had been trapped. Work to isolate and cool the fire continued, he said.

A miner who works the day shift said he saw the news and hurried to the site to help with the rescue. &ldquo;We saw a frightful scene, it cannot be described, it's very sad,&rdquo; said Celal Kara, 40. &ldquo;They're all my friends... they all had dreams," the miner of 14 years said after exiting the mine, his face covered in soot.
Ambulances were on standby at the site. Rescue teams were dispatched to the area, including from neighbouring provinces, Turkey's disaster management agency, AFAD, said.
Turkey's president was expected to visit Amasra on Saturday.

Chicago Fire Department Deputy Chief Marc Ferman told reporters a few hours later that the department had finished searching for potential victims and was “confident” that nobody remained trapped inside the building, of which much of the top floor had collapsed.
He said technical crews had shored up the upper floors to allow firefighters to search “to make sure we didn't leave any victims underneath any of the debris”.
A cause of the blast had not yet been determined.
Seven of the injured were in the building on the city's West Side when the explosion occurred and one apparently was in a building across the street, Ferman said. Three of the people who were hurt had serious to critical injuries, the department said.
Photographs and video posted on the Chicago Fire Department's Twitter page showed that much of the top floor was destroyed. Scores of bricks and other debris had fallen onto the street, crushing at least one car and seriously damaging two others.
Several residents said they were home when the explosion rocked the building.
“I was asleep, and all of a sudden there was a loud booming,” Lawrence Lewis, who was asleep at the time, told WGN television. “I woke up to my windows gone, my front door blown open. I just saw smoke, and I ran out of the house. I was asleep. I'm shook up right now.” Otis Maning, who lives across the street, told the Chicago Sun-Times that he was on his couch watching television when “all of a sudden I hear, 'Boom!'” “My heart almost shot out of my body...I saw windows busted open, I saw debris," he added.
Chicago police bomb squad and agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives also responded to the explosion.
