Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis on Sunday expressed his disagreement with the decision to give Virat Kohli out after the latter was caught off a full-toss by Harshit Rana on his own bowling.
The Hawk-Eye system that measures no-balls for height came into play when Kohli was dismissed for a 7-ball 18 during RCB&rsquo;s chase of 223 against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
&ldquo;It was crazy, rules are rules. Virat and myself thought that the ball was higher than the waist (during Kohli's dismissal). I guess they measured it from the popping crease, one team thinks it's high, the other doesn't. That's how the game goes at times,&rdquo; Du Plessis said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
The delivery, which seemed to be dipping on the batter, was just above the waist of Kohli when he made contact with the ball.
The star batter was standing just outside the crease at that moment.
Then TV umpire Michael Gough checked for the height and as per the Hawk-Eye tracking, the ball would have passed Kohli&rsquo;s waist at a height of 0.92 meters had he been standing and upright at the crease.
In that position, Kohli&rsquo;s waist was measured at 1.04 meters, which meant the ball would have travelled past below the batter&rsquo;s waistline if he was standing inside the crease.
In that case, this would have been a legal delivery and the Gough had to take a call based on the available height reference.
However, Kohli left the field an agitated man after having an animated discussion with the on-field umpire. The frustrated Kohli knocked the waste bin located near away team dressing room in anger.

Despite a hiatus from international cricket, du Plessis, now 39, has maintained an impressive form in domestic cricket. He notably secured the second-highest run total in the latest Indian Premier League, amassing 730 runs from 14 innings while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. His consistent performance at the domestic level has kept him in the reckoning for international matches.

If reports are to be believed, Cricket South Africa is mulling the possibility of bringing back former captain Faf du Plessis to the T20Is.
Du Plessis, who retired from Test cricket back in Feb 2021, wasn't selected for the T20 World Cups in 2021 &amp; 2022 despite scoring a plethora of runs in T20 leagues all across the world.&nbsp;
But now, according to an ESPNCricinfo report, South Africa's new white-ball coach Rob Walter is interested in getting du Plessis back into the T20 fold with an eye on the 2024 World Cup.
In fact, CSA is considering the idea of single-format contracts in order to achieve just that. However, it remains to be seen if anything substantial comes of it.&nbsp;

When Mike Hesson in RCB’s podcast mentioned his team’s long-term plan, he had Faf du Plessis in mind. RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations has chalked out a 3-year-long plan with Faf du Plessis at the helm.
Apparently, the former South African skipper is 37. Though his fitness cannot be challenged, it is clear that in the near future RCB are not planning to hand the reins to a younger mind. While his predecessor, Virat Kohli, who is 33 currently might turn out to be their alternate choice, it is most unlikely that he will take up the job again.
Even Mega Auctions are far from sight which might have given the team a chance to pick younger players with a perspective of either directly making them the skipper or grooming them at least.

Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis expressed surprise that his former side, Chennai Super Kings has changed the captain mid-way in the IPL 2022. Plessis has been a part of CSK for a long time and had won two IPL titles with the team.

Defending champions Chennai showed grit as they finally registered their season’s first victory after handing RCB a 23 run defeat at the DY Patil Stadium on Tuesday.
Sent in to bat first, opener Robin Uthappa and all-rounder Shivam Dube stepped up for the team after they lost Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad early. Both together built a 165-run partnership to post a daunting 216 run total for Bangalore. While Dube missed on his ton as his innings wrapped at 95* in 46 balls, Uthappa scored 88 in 50 balls before Wanindu Hasaranga removed him. Harshal Patel’s absence came to haunt the team, as RCB struggled to pick wickets in middle overs.
Bangalore’s top order easily succumbed under the pressure of the huge total as they lost their 4 wickets within 7 overs posting just 50 on the board.
