FIFA Referees Committee chairman Pierluigi Collina said on Thursday that stoppage time at the end of matches must be accurately reflected across all contests, even in one-sided games such as last weekend's 7-0 victory for Liverpool over Manchester United in the English Premier League.
"I can understand that showing quite a relevant amount of time, or additional time, when it is 7-0 (to one team), is difficult to understand in the specific match. But, I repeat, if the regulation of the competition says that the goal difference, the entire goal difference, is relevant for the ranking at the end, even one goal scored or not scored, can make the difference." Collina said.
The idea of a realistic injury time which was first tried at the FIFA World Cup last year with games regularly going over 100 minutes was to stop teams from wasting time over injuries and goal kicks.

The winners will be announced at a Feb. 27 ceremony in Paris.
Messi edged Mbapp&eacute; for the Golden Ball awarded by FIFA as the best player at the World Cup. Croatia captain Luka Modric placed third in that contest.
Another duel is expected for the Paris Saint-Germain teammates with Messi favored to get a seventh win in FIFA's annual individual prize. Mbapp&eacute; seeks his first.
Messi won his six previous awards when it was called the FIFA World Player of the Year (2009), the FIFA Ballon d'Or in each year from 2010-12 and again in 2015, then in the current title of Best FIFA Men's Player for 2019 Mbappe makes the shortlist for the first time though he was fourth in voting for the 2018 award. The 24-year-old has been sixth, seventh and eighth in past three years.
Robert Lewandowski won the FIFA award for the past two years.
The more prestigious Ballon d'Or award organised by France Football magazine was won in October by Karim Benzema ahead of the World Cup. The France forward missed the tournament because of an injury. Messi was not on the long list of Ballon d'Or candidates announced in August.
The Best Women's Player award for 2021 was won by Putellas and the Barcelona playmaker made the top three again despite being injured days before the European Championship and missing the tournament for Spain.
Mead led England to the Euro 2022 title as the tournament's joint top scorer and was named its best player. She suffered a serious knee injury in November playing for Arsenal and could miss the Women's World Cup that starts in July, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.
Morgan, who was second in the 2019 vote to teammate Megan Rapinoe, was player of the tournament when the US won the CONCACAF W Championship last year. She was also the joint top scorer

The former Porto striker streaked away unbothered, sized up Andriy Lunin and fired past Madrid's backup goalie, who started for the injured Thibaut Courtois.
The goal settled Al-Hilal and Madrid was stymied until Vin&iacute;cius made an exquisite pass to serve up a goal by Benzema. Vin&iacute;cius used the outside edge of his right boot to bend a short cross around a defender and meet Benzema's darting move. Benzema did the rest by using one touch to blast it in in the 54th.
Valverde added his second in the 58th.
Vietto scored on either side of Vin&iacute;cius' second goal, netting in the 63rd and 79th as Madrid's defense failed to track the Argentine in the box.
A late miss by Marega denied providing Al-Hilal a chance to go for a last-gasp equaliser.
"This was the game of their lives, and you could tell it on the field, so we had to take this game seriously," Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos said after collecting his sixth club world title across Madrid and former club Bayern Munich.
Al-Hilal's squad included members of the Saudi Arabia team that stunned eventual champion Argentina at thes World Cup. Its star player against Madrid, however, was Vietto, a forward who played for several Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid, before joining the Saudi league.
With another world title in the bag, Madrid can focus on defending its European and Spanish titles. It trails Barcelona by eight points in the domestic league and will meet Liverpool in the Champions League round of 16 this month. While they ordered the players to carry out community service on a football project and pay fines of up to $21,600, the country's federation was also fined $54,000.&nbsp;

FIFA banned Uruguay players Fernando Muslera and Jos&eacute; Maria Gimenez for four games each on Friday for aggressively confronting match officials when the team was eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Veterans Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin must also serve one-game bans when Uruguay next plays, FIFA said in disciplinary verdicts.
The players must all carry out community service on a soccer project and pay fines of up to 20,000 Swiss francs ($21,600), FIFA said.
Disorder flared when Uruguay failed to advance to the round of 16 in Qatar despite beating Ghana 2-0 in its final group-stage game on Dec. 2.
The Uruguayan soccer federation was also fined 50,000 Swiss francs ($54,000) and must close some of its stadiums for one home game.
FIFA disciplinary judges ruled the federation "was responsible for the discriminatory behaviour of its supporters as well as for the misconduct, offensive behaviour and violation of the principles of fair play" by players.

Entering the tournament as the favourites to lift the title, Argentina were shocked by a spirited Saudi Arabia side in their opening Group C encounter, falling to a 2-1 defeat which also ended Argentina's 36-game unbeaten streak.
Despite Messi opening the scoring for the Albiceleste, 2 quickfire goals by The Falcons gave us the first upset of the tournament.

The Germans could never recover after the defeat and were knocked out of the group stages for the 2nd time in a row.

With France already through to the knockout stages after back-to-back wins in their opening 2 encounters, Didier Deschamps made 9 changes against Tunisia in the 3rd match.&nbsp;
Turns out, underestimating the Carthage Eagles was a big mistake as the Tunisians went on to beat Les Bleus 1-0 courtesy of a Wahbi Khazri goal. This was Tunisia's first victory over France in the World Cup in over 50 years.

Starting their 2022 World Cup campaign in Group F alongside 2018 runners-up Croatia and Belgium, the Atlas Lions were not expected to make it through to the next round. However, Walid Regragui's men set the tone for their tournament when they remained unbeaten in the group stage and produced an upset by beating the golden generation of Belgium 2-0 in their 2nd game. The Atlas Lions eventually finished top of the table, having not conceded a goal from an opposition player in the group.
Qualifying for the next round as table toppers, the fairytale run didn't end early as there was more to this Moroccan side than anybody had ever imagined. The Round of 16 showed the resilient side of the Atlas Lions who managed to take heavyweights Spain to penalties and eventually emerged as 3-0 winners in the end.
The surprising momentum saw them get the better of Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal 1-0 in the quarters as well to become the first-ever African nation to play in the World Cup semis
However, every good thing comes to an end as the fairytale run ended in the last 4 courtesy of a 2-0 defeat to defending champions France.

After 63 exciting and eventful games, the final between Lionel Messi's Argentina and the defending champions France lived up to everyone's expectation. It was a Lionel Messi vs Kylian Mbappe affair which saw La Pulga scoring a brace while the 23-year-old became the first player ever to score a hattrick in the World Cup final.
With the score on 3-3 after an exhilerating 120 minutes of football, it was Argentina who won the penalty shootout 4-2 courtesy of an Emiliano Martinez save which helped in fulfilling Messi's lifelong dream of lifting the World Cup.
This World Cup had something special to it, and saw many legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Suarez and Luka Modric bid farewell to the quadrennial tournament as well which made it even more memorable for fans all over the world.

In a press conference in Doha, Gianni said, 'the details of the location and so on still need to be discussed, agreed and decided, but the 32-team tournament will go ahead, making it really like a World Cup, he said&nbsp;
Infantino who shared his detailed wish list to create and revamp FIFA events further added that the football body would also review the format of the group phase of the next World Cup in 2026.&nbsp;
He also lauded the organisers of Qatar 2022 and went on to call it the &lsquo;best-ever World Cup&rsquo;. Infantino called it a success on all fronts and added that the main was 'from the aspect of the fans, the behavior, the joyful atmosphere, the bringing of people together&rsquo;.&nbsp;
The Arab nation had spent over $220 billion to host the mega event. &nbsp;
