Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday cautioned that conflicts and confrontations being faced by the world today do not benefit anyone, saying the world has to move forward with a human-centric approach.
Addressing the inaugural session of the ninth G20 Parliamentary Speakers' Summit (P20) here, he also said we have to remove obstacles in the way of global trust.
Modi said this is the time for peace and brotherhood and time to move forward together.
His remarks came against the backdrop of a series of brazen attacks on Israeli towns by Hamas militants over the weekend which triggered fresh tensions in the region.
Referring to the attack on Parliament House some 20 years ago, the prime minister said India has been facing cross-border terrorism which has claimed thousands of innocent lives.
He noted that the world was now realising how big a challenge terrorism is. Terrorism anywhere, in whatever manifestation is against humanity, he said.
The prime minister also said that the G20 presidency ensured festivities in India throughout the year and India landing on the moon added to the celebrations.

However, the 1.6 lakh planters that were placed for the Summit have now started disappearing. It appears that thieves have stolen them, and half of the planters have been returned to the nurseries.
There are pictures circulating on the internet showing a group of women and children on Bhairon Marg dumping the soil from the white plant pots and vanishing with them.
<h3>How many planters were placed for the G20 Summit?</h3>
Pertinently, the Public Works Department (PWD) placed around 1.6 lakh beautiful potted plants with flowers and lush green leaves on the sides of the roads. For this task, they got assistance from the Delhi Police, who kept an eye to prevent theft.
But as the Summit concluded, the security personnel also began to leave the public property, and as a result, thieves started carrying out their activities to steal planters.
A PWD official while speaking with The Time of India said that half the pots that were smaller in size - with a diameter less than 18cm - have been sent back to the nurseries. The problem might be with the pots placed by the forest department.&nbsp;
Moreover, this is not the only thing that has been stolen recently, as there have been incidents of three nozzles from fountains at Delhi Gate being stolen. Additionally, electrical items and decorative lights have also been reported as missing.
Currently, no complaint about this has been made to the police.

The Press Informatiom Bureau has issued a statement after visuals of water logging at Bharat Mandapam, the venue for G20 summit in Delhi, went viral on social media.&nbsp;
PIB said that claims were 'exaggerated and misleading'. It said that there was a minor water logging in the open area&nbsp; and it was swiftly cleared as pumps were pressed into action after overnight rains in Delhi. It added that there is no water logging at venue anymore.&nbsp;
PIB Fact Check also tweeted a video of a dry Bharat Mandapam and said that multiple pumps were pressed into action and the water was removed in 20 minutes.&nbsp;
It further said that the main venue of the summit was not water logged and no inconvience was caused.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Several world leaders, including British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and UN Secretary-General Antonia Guterres, arrived here on Friday to attend the G20 summit, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he looks forward to productive discussions with them over the next two days.
The leaders were welcomed by traditional dance performances by various troupes and a smiling IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva danced to the beat of the music at the airport.
Responding to a post by Georgieva on X on arrival here to attend the summit, Prime Minister Modi said he appreciates the affection she has shown for India's culture when she landed here.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Hasina were received at the airport by Union Ministers Shobha Karandlaje and Darshana Jardosh respectively.

Comoros President Azali Assoumani also arrived here to a rousing welcome. He is also the chairperson of the African Union.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also arrived for the summit.
On his arrival, Deputy Prime Minister of Oman Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said was received by Ashwini Choubey and he witnessed dance performance by cultural troupes.
In a post on X, Prime Minister Modi said, "I am confident that our guests will enjoy the warmth of the Indian hospitality." "I will also be holding bilateral meetings with several leaders and Heads of Delegation to further deepen the bonds of friendship and cooperation," he added.
The G20 leaders will deliberate on pressing global issues at the grouping's annual summit here on September 9 and 10. India is hosting the summit in its capacity as the current G20 chair.
The leaders of the influential grouping are being welcomed at the airport with cultural performances.
In its G20 presidency, India has been focusing on various issues such as inclusive growth, digital innovation, climate resilience and equitable global health access.
The G20 member countries represent around 85 per cent of the global GDP, over 75 per cent of the global trade and about two-thirds of the world population.
The grouping comprises Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the UK, the US and the European Union (EU).&nbsp;

As well as Saudi Arabia and India, key participants in the project will include the United Arab Emirates and the European Union, Finer told reporters in New Delhi.
The agreement comes with Washington actively engaging with the kingdom, encouraging it to normalise ties with Israel.
"This has been the result of months of careful diplomacy, quiet, careful diplomacy, bilaterally and in multilateral settings," Finer added.
This project "has enormous potential but exactly how long it takes, I don't know," Finer added.
The agreement to discuss the project could be among the most tangible outcomes of the summit, with G20 leaders divided over Russia's war in Ukraine and gridlocked on finding an agreement to slash carbon emissions.
&nbsp;"While we've all read and maybe you all have written a lot of analysis about who is or isn't in Delhi for the summit, and why or why not that may be, the United States is focused on the fact that President Biden is here and rolling up his sleeves with the other G20 countries and partners to produce real results," Finer said.

In his opening remarks at the G20 Leaders' Summit at the Bharat Mandapam, Modi said the 21st century is a time of giving new direction to the world.
"This is a time when age-old challenges are calling for new solutions from us. And therefore, with a human-centric approach, we have to move forward to fulfil our responsibilities," Modi said.
"After COVID-19, there is a big crisis of trust deficit in the world. The war has deepened this trust deficit. When we can defeat Covid we can also achieve victory over this trust deficit crisis.
"As G20 president, India appeals to the world to change this global trust deficit into confidence on each other. It is a time to walk together," Modi said.
The prime minister told the gathering that it had become a people's G20 in India with over 200 events held in more than 60 cities.

There was no consensus on the text to describe the Ukraine issue at the G20 Sherpa meeting that took place in the Nuh district of Haryana from September 3-6. Indian negotiators believe that there will be consensus on the new paragraph that was circulated on Saturday morning, the sources said.
The response of the Western powers as well as China and Russia to the new text was not known immediately.
Two sources had earlier said the G7 countries are not agreeable to any leaders' declaration without reference to the Ukraine conflict.
The G20 operates under the principle of consensus and there have been apprehensions that lack of a common view may result in the summit ending without a joint declaration.
Both Russia and China had agreed to the two paragraphs on the Ukraine conflict in the Bali declaration but backtracked this year, creating difficulties for India.
Almost all key meetings held under India's G20 presidency, including those of finance and foreign ministers, could not come out with consensus documents in view of opposition from Russia and China to any text referring to the Ukraine conflict.

The G20 has adopted the New Delhi Leaders Summit Declaration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Saturday and said consensus had been reached among member states.
"Have just got the good news that due to the hard work of our teams and your cooperation, a consensus has been reached on the New Delhi G20 Leaders Summit Declaration," Modi said while addressing the second session of the Summit at the Bharat Mandapam here.
"It is my proposal that this G20 declaration be adopted," the prime minister said. After the approval of the members, Modi declared that it has been adopted.
"On this occasion I would like to thank our ministers, sherpas and all officials who made this possible with their hard work," he said.

The joint statement says that all states must refrain from the threat or use of force to expand its territory.

Asserting that "today's era must not be of war", the New Delhi Declaration of G20 countries on Saturday called on all states to uphold the principles of international law including territorial integrity and sovereignty and said for the peaceful resolution of conflicts as well as diplomacy and dialogue are critical.
"Concerning the war in Ukraine, while recalling the discussion in Bali, we reiterated our national positions and resolutions adopted at the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly and underscored that all states must act in a manner consistent with the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter in its entirety," it said.
The declaration, the adoption of which was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the start of the second session of the G20 Leaders' Summit under India's Presidency, said that in line with the UN Charter, all states must refrain from the threat or use of force to seek territorial acquisition against the territorial integrity and sovereignty or political independence of any state.
"The use or threat of use of nuclear weapons is inadmissible," it added.
&nbsp;Reaffirming that the G20 is the premier forum for international economic cooperation, and recognising that while the G20 is not the platform to resolve geopolitical and security issues, the G20 leaders acknowledged that these issues can have significant consequences for the global economy.
"We highlighted the human suffering and negative added impacts of the war in Ukraine with regard to global food and energy security, supply chains, macro-financial stability, inflation and growth, which has complicated the policy environment for countries, especially developing and least developed countries which are still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic disruption which has derailed progress towards the SDGs." "There were different views and assessments of the situation," it noted.
The declaration further said,"We appreciate the efforts of Turkiye and UN-brokered Istanbul Agreements consisting of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Russian Federation and the Secretariat of the United Nations on Promoting Russian Food Products and Fertilizers to the World Markets and the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from Ukrainian Ports (Black Sea Initiative)." It called for their full, timely and effective implementation to ensure the immediate and unimpeded deliveries of grain, foodstuffs, and fertilizers/inputs from the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
"This is necessary to meet the demand in developing and least developed countries, particularly those in Africa," it added.
Emphasising the importance of sustaining food and energy security, the G20 leaders called for the "cessation of military destruction or other attacks on relevant infrastructure".
"We call on all states to uphold the principles of international law including territorial integrity and sovereignty, international humanitarian law, and the multilateral system that safeguards peace and stability.
"The peaceful resolution of conflicts and efforts to address crises as well as diplomacy and dialogue are critical.
"We will unite in our endeavour to address the adverse impact of the war on the global economy and welcome all relevant and constructive initiatives that support a comprehensive, just, and durable peace in Ukraine that will uphold all the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter for the promotion of peaceful, friendly, and good neighbourly relations among nations in the spirit of &lsquo;One Earth, One Family, One Future&rsquo;," it added.&nbsp;
