Bihar police accused the late soldier's father of encroaching upon the land to build the memorial.

Following allegations that Bihar police assaulted the father of a soldier killed in the clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Ladakh's Galwan Valley in 2020, the police force issued a clarification.
Poonam Keshri, the SDPO of Mahua, said, "On 23 January, a case was filed under SC/ST Act for the building of martyr's memorial on the land of Harinath Ram by the accused."
"First a pillar was erected, then overnight, walls were built around it. Harinath Ram's land is being encroached upon, and his rights are being trampled," she added.
"There was repeated counselling, but he encroached upon the land, and also misbehaved with him," including the police officer in the litany of complaints against late soldier Jai Kishore Singh's father.

The late soldier's family claimed that the father was first assaulted, and then arrested for allegedly building the memorial on government land.

The bone of contention is reportedly a memorial built for soldier Jai Kishore Singh, who died while fighting Chinese soldiers in Ladakh's Galwan. The late soldier's family claimed that the father was first assaulted, and then arrested for allegedly building the memorial on government land.
The incident took place in Jandaha area of Vaishali.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping shook hands Tuesday at a side event at the G20 Summit here, a gesture sparking interest because of the strained bilateral relations over a border clash two years back.
A live video feed for the media from the welcome dinner hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo for G20 delegates showed the brief exchange between the two leaders.
There had been some speculation over a possible bilateral meeting between the two leaders on the margins of the Group of 20 Summit, which began Tuesday. But the agenda made known by both sides so far does not mention such a meeting.
Prime Minister Modi and President Xi, who were both attending the G20 dinner hosted by Indonesian President Widodo, exchanged courtesies at the conclusion of the dinner, official sources said when asked about the interaction between the two leaders.
Since the June 2020 Galwan Valley clash in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed &ndash; there has been no one-on-one meetings between the two leaders.
India has been consistently maintaining that peace and tranquillity along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) are important for the overall development of bilateral ties.
In September, Prime Minister Modi and President Xi came face-to-face at the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Uzbek city of Samarkand for the first time since the start of the border standoff in eastern Ladakh.
No separate meeting is believed to have taken place between them there, though it is presumed they would have exchanged pleasantries.

The first day of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party saw a video of the Galwan clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers being played at the event. Brief footage of the violent brawl was reportedly played at the Great Hall of People on 16 October 2022.
Also present at the gathering was Qi Fabao, a Chinese military commander who had been injured in the clash which occurred in June 2020. Fabao is one of the 304 delegates from the People&rsquo;s Liberation Army (PLA) and the People&rsquo;s Armed Police who are attending the twice-a-decade meeting.
Speaking at the event, China's President Xi Jinping said that the Chinese military headed by him will intensify troop training and combat preparedness to &ldquo;fight and win&rdquo; besides creating a strong system of "strategic deterrence."

Jinping added that China would "become more adept at deploying military forces on a regular basis" to shape the country's "security posture, deter and manage crises and conflicts and win local wars".
While Jinping did not name any countries, China is currently engaged in a territorial dispute with many of its neighbours, including India.

The researchers have declined to reveal their identity citing security reasons butclaimed that their report is based on a year-long investigation involving discussions with Chinese bloggers, information obtained from Chinese citizens and deleted media reports.
The report quotes a Weibo user who claims to have served in Galwan as saying that Chinese army was creating infrastructure in the buffer zone, violating the mutual agreement and had been trying to expand its patrolling limits within the buffer zone since April 2020.
The Klaxon says that the report also shows extreme lengths Beijing has gone to in order to silence discussion about the battle - in particular, discussion about the true number Chinese casualties.
While the Indian authorities had clearly announced that 20 of their soldiers had been killed in the clashes, China had never released the number of casualties till February 2021 when it said it was honouring 4 soldiers killed in the clash with medals.
