Shankar Mahadevan, who received an honourary doctorate from Birmingham City University for his outstanding contribution to music and arts, expressed his gratitude and said this is a reminder to work even harder and create more beautiful songs.

Renowned singer Shankar Mahadevan received an honourary doctorate from Birmingham City University for his outstanding contribution to music and arts on June 23.
The ceremony was held at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Shankar Mahadevan expressed his gratitude and said this is a reminder to work even harder and create more beautiful songs.
Mahadevan shared his experience and said, &lsquo;This is truly special, I feel privileged, I feel honoured and this is just the result of body of work that I have done. I would like to thank Birmingham City University and all the people who decided to confer this legendary, honourable doctorate on me. All I can say is that this is an occasion which tells that I need to work even harder, come up with even more beautiful songs and spread the joy of music which is Indian classical music all around the world.&rsquo;&nbsp;
He added, &lsquo;When an honorary doctorate like this is conferred upon an artiste that you look up to then you&rsquo;ve a goal to achieve. The youngsters feel that their dreams are coming true in front of their eyes. They also start working hard and they would also like to achieve and would like to reach possibly where I reached today. I used to look up at maestros like John McLaughlin and Ustaad Zakir Hussain like they have come to confer this upon me. So it&rsquo;s nice to set a kind example for the next generation.&rsquo;&nbsp;
The ceremony was attended by esteemed personalities including table maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain and legendary guitarist John McLaughlin.
Following the formal ceremony, students performed some of Mahadevan's well-known compositions including 'Mitwa' from 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'.
Mahadevan also mesmerised the audience as his performed his timeless classic 'Breathless'.

Survey: PM Modi rated most popular global leader; leaves Biden, Sunak behind

The "Global Leader Approval" survey is based on data collected from January 26-31 this year.&nbsp;

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been pegged as the world's most popular leader with an approval rating of 78 per cent as per a survey by a US-based consulting firm 'Morning Consult.'
As per the rating PM Modi's ratings trump those of other leaders including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. The poll surveyed 22 global leaders for the ratings.
The "Global Leader Approval" survey is based on data collected from January 26-31 this year, said the Political Intelligence research firm which collated a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with sample sizes varying by country.
PM Modi garnered 78 per cent of approval ratings, way ahead of US President Joe Biden, who received 40 per cent ratings.&nbsp;

A week after Starbucks appoints Laxman Narasimhan as its new Chief Executive Officer, Indian- origin Devika Bulchandani is now the global chief executive officer of the advertising and public relations agency Ogilvy.  
Bulchandani, who has been serving as Global President and CEO of Ogilvy North America, succeeds Andy Main, the company said in a statement.
In her new role, Bulchandani will now be responsible for all aspects of Ogilvy’s business across 131 offices in 93 countries which look at advertising, public relations, consulting, and health units.
Bulchandani was born and brought up in Amritsar and is one of four siblings. She studied at Welham Girls’ School in Dehradun, followed by St Xavier’s in Mumbai.  She also did a Master’s in Communications from the University of Southern California in 1991. She moved to the US after getting married and has worked there since.
Bulchandani is the latest in a slew of Indian-origin executives taking leadership role in global multinationals in varied fields. Last week coffee giant Starbucks appointed Laxman Narasimhan as CEO.

Amritsar-born Bulchandani, who spent 26 years at McCann in various leadership roles including President of McCann North America, is the latest in a slew of Indian-origin executives taking leadership role in global multinationals in varied fields.
Bulchandani, who has been serving as Global President and CEO of Ogilvy North America, succeeds Andy Main who is stepping down as Global CEO and will serve as a Senior Advisor until the end of the year, the company said in a statement.
In her new role she will be responsible for all aspects of the creative network&rsquo;s business across 131 offices in 93 countries and spanning its advertising, public relations, experience, consulting, and health units, it added.

Apple tops Interbrand Best Global Brands 2020 list

According to the Interbrand Best Global Brands 2020 list, Apple has claimed the top spot with a 38% growth in supposed brand value at nearly $323 billion.

According to the Interbrand Best Global Brands 2020 list, Apple has claimed the top spot with a 38% growth in supposed brand value at nearly $323 billion. The tech firm is followed by Amazon, that's seen a 60% rise in brand value to sit at the second spot with around $200 billion. Microsoft has cleaned up the top 3 by pipping Google, with other tech companies like Instagram sitting at #19, YouTube at #30, and video-conferencing service Zoom coming at #100.
