Former Air Force pilot&nbsp;Gunjan Saxena&nbsp;on Thursday told the Delhi High Court that she has not faced any discrimination on the basis of her gender in the Indian Air Force.&nbsp;She maintained that Air Force gave her an opportunity to serve the nation, including in the Kargil War and she will forever remain grateful for the opportunities given to her by the force. Her submission came amid controversy over the film&nbsp;''Gunjan Saxena - The Kargil Girl''. Centre has moved court claiming that the Netflix&nbsp;movie depicts IAF&nbsp;in poor light and shows it as gender biased.

New Delhi, PTI: Former Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena Thursday told the Delhi High Court that she has not faced any discrimination on the basis of her gender in the Indian Air Force. She maintained that Air Force gave her an opportunity to serve the nation, including in the Kargil War and she will forever remain grateful for the opportunities given to her by the force.
Saxena made the submissions in her affidavit, in a suit filed by the Centre, seeking a decree of permanent injunction against the Netflix, Dharma Productions and others from broadcasting or releasing in theatres or any other digital platform the film ''Gunjan Saxena - The Kargil Girl'', without grant of no-objection certificate (NOC) from it.
According to the Centre, the film which was streaming on Netflix, depicts the IAF in poor light and dents its image as it shows that the force is gender biased, which is not correct.
Saxena, in her affidavit filed before Justice Rajiv Shakdher, clarified that the movie is not a documentary but is only inspired by her life and it is clear from the two disclaimers placed at the beginning of the film which gives a message to motivate young women to join IAF.
"The Deponent (Saxena) does not claim that everything that is shown in the movie has happened with her in her real life. However, the deponent believes that the message sought to be conveyed through the movie is to motivate young women to join the Indian Air Force and, on a broader canvas, the aim is to inspire young women to pursue their dreams, not to doubt themselves and to work hard towards their goals," she said in the affidavit filed through advocate Aditya Dewan.

 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl'
Netflix's recent offering 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl' starring Janhvi Kapoor in the titular role attracted severe backlash due to its negative portrayal of the Indian Armed Forces. The IAF later wrote a letter to Censor Board stating that they found certain scenes and dialogues in the movie and trailer portraying&nbsp;the IAF&nbsp;in a&nbsp;negative light.&nbsp;The letter further raised objection over presenting some situations in a misleading manner and hinting at&nbsp;inappropriate work culture against women in IAF.&nbsp;
 'Bird Box'&nbsp;
'Bird Box' drew criticism for its inclusion of actual footage of a train wreckage which had led to 47 real life deaths. After public outcry, Netflix agreed to re-edit the movie without the actual footage out of respect to the real victims. Apart from this, the film grabbed eyeballs when it inspired a 'Bird Box challenge' wherein people attempted to do everyday activities while being blindfolded. This prompted Netflix to issue several statements, requesting the audience to not participate in such events.
Delhi Crime
Based on the 2012 Nirbhaya gangrape, 'Delhi Crime' landed in a legal soup when&nbsp;Anil Sharma, the&nbsp;SHO&nbsp; of Delhi's Vasant Vihar claimed that his character depiction in show as a 'dumb and slow' officer was fabricated by the makers for 'commercial profit'. However, the director of the show Richie Mehta later allegedly apologised to the SHO and said that 'some of the events, dialogue and chronology of the show have been fictionalized for dramatic purposes'.
Tiger King
A real-crime documentary miniseries on zoo-keeper Joe Exotic, 'Tiger King' too had its share of uproar. After the netizens became obsessed with the series and the show reached its peak success, a wave of criticism followed. Both the Humane Society and PETA slammed the makers for glossing over the issue of tiger abuse. They also brought up the devastating consequences when baby tigers are separated from their mothers too early in light.

Anil Sharma, the station house officer at the Vasant Vihar police station argued that his character depiction as a 'dumb and slow' officer was fabricated for 'commercial profit'.
