Rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim has been granted a 50-day parole, 2 months after he was temporarily let out of jail for 21 days in November.&nbsp;
Gurmeet is serving a 20-year-jail term for raping two women. According to reports, this is the seventh time he has been granted parole in 24 months and ninth in 4 years.&nbsp;
The Dera chief had walked out of the Sunaria jail on a 30-day parole on July 30, 2023, while he was granted a 40-day parole in January last year as well.
In October 2022 too, he was granted a 40-day parole.
Before that, he had come out of prison on a month-long parole in June 2022. Besides, he was granted a three-week furlough on February 7, 2022.
In 2021, the Dera chief, along with four others, was also convicted for hatching a conspiracy to kill Ranjit Singh, a Dera manager.
The Dera chief and three others were convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist more than 16 years ago.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief and convicted rapist Gurmeet Ram Rahim was seen cutting a cake with a sword, days after he was released from prison on a 40-day parole.
He walked out of the Sunaria prison in Haryana's Rohtak on 21 January 2023. On 23 January, the religious leader serving a 20-year jail term inaugurated a mega cleanliness campaign organised by his sect's volunteers.
Senior BJP leaders from Haryana participated in the event. These included Rajya Sabha MP Krishan Lal Panwar and former minister Krishan Kumar Bedi.
The BJP leaders and others, who virtually attended the launch, also extended their greetings on the birth anniversary of former Dera chief Shah Satnam Singh which falls on January 25.
Bedi, who is also Chief Minister M L Khattar's OSD, and Panwar praised the cleanliness drive. The former minister said both he and Panwar visited the Sirsa Dera and handed over an invite to a February 3 state-level function connected with Sant Ravidas Jayanti in Narwana.
"I and Panwar-ji had come to Sirsa to extend the invite," Bedi told the sect chief. "We pray for your good health and your blessings always be with us," Panwar told Gurmeet.

During his parole period, the Dera chief is also likely to attend the birth anniversary event of former Dera chief Shah Satnam Singh on January 25, sources told PTI.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was on Friday again granted a 40-day parole, officials said.
The latest parole to the Dera chief, who is serving a 20-year jail term for raping his two disciples, comes three months after he was granted a similar parole.
&ldquo;The parole has been granted for 40 days. It has been granted as per rules," Rohtak's Divisional Commissioner Sanjeev Verma told PTI over the phone.
The Dera chief&rsquo;s last 40-day parole had ended on November 25 last year. He had gone to his Barnawa ashram in Uttar Pradesh after his release on October 14.
Earlier, Haryana Jails Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala, while commenting on the Dera chief's fresh parole plea, had said the latter had filed an application seeking a 40-day parole which had been forwarded to the Rohtak divisional commissioner.
During his parole period, the Dera chief is also likely to attend the birth anniversary event of former Dera chief Shah Satnam Singh on January 25, sources said.
During his previous parole period in October-November, the 55-year-old Sirsa Dera chief held several online 'satsangs' at the Barnawa ashram in UP. Some of these were also attended by BJP leaders from Haryana.
Prior to his October parole, the sect chief had come out of prison on a month-long parole in June.

He was also granted three weeks furlough from February 7, 2022, barely two weeks before the Punjab Assembly elections.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex religious body of the Sikhs, had earlier raised an objection after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was granted a 40-day parole last year.
SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami had alleged that while special kindness was being shown to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, Sikh prisoners lodged in jails for about three decades were not being released even after completing their sentences.
The Dera chief in 2021, along with four others, was also convicted for hatching a conspiracy to kill Ranjit Singh, a Dera manager. The Dera chief and three others were convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist over 16 years ago.&nbsp;

These include Muktsar, Bathinda, Mansa, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Barnala, Sangrur, Moga, Patiala and Ludhiana.
In the other two regions - Majha and Doaba - Deras have influence in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Phagwara, Tarn Taran and Amritsar.
If we break up the influence of individual Deras,
Dera Sacha Sauda has influence in 27 seats,

Of all the Deras, Ram Rahim's Dera Sacha Sauda is the only one that has in the past openly called on its lakhs of followers to vote for a particular party.
In 2002, Dera Sacha Sauda endorsed Captain Amarinder and Congress won the polls.
In 2007, Ram Rahim again asked its followers to vote for Congress. But Akali-BJP combine won, which led to souring of the Akali-Dera relations.
Before 2012 polls: Amarinder Singh met Gurmeet Ram Rahim again, but Dera didn't support any party openly
2017: Dera refrained from open support to any party, but endorsed individual candidate.
And not just in Punjab, Dera Sacha Sauda also threw its weight behind the BJP in 2014 Assembly elections.

Two of the accused, Jasbir and Sabdil, also faced charges under the Arms Act as they had shot Ranjit Singh dead in Kurukshetra in Haryana.
Ram Rahim will also pay a ₹ 31 lakh fine. The other convicts will also pay fines.&nbsp;Abdil has been told to pay ₹ 1.5 lakh, Krishnan and Jasbir must pay ₹ 1.25 lakh each and Avtar must pay ₹ 75,000.
Fifty per cent of this amount will go to Ranjit Singh's family.
