A canteen owner at a theatre screening the movie "Pushpa 2: The Rule" in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior allegedly bit the ear of a man over a dispute on settling the snacks bill, police said.
The incident took place on Sunday when the victim, Shabbir, went to the canteen of Kailash Talkies in Inderganj area during the movie interval to buy food, the police said on Wednesday.
An argument broke out between Shabbir and canteen owner Raju, who accused the former of not paying money, an official said.
The heated exchange escalated into a fight with Raju and his three associates thrashing Shabbir. Raju allegedly bit one of the ears of Shabbir, as per the FIR.
The argument over the payment of food items led to the fight, Additional Superintendent of Police Niranjan Sharma said.
"The canteen owner and his three associates allegedly beat Shabbir and also bit his ear while threatening to kill him," he said.
Shabbir lodged a complaint with police on Monday. A case was registered against three persons on Tuesday based on Shabbir's medical report, he said, adding that further investigation was underway.

UNESCO's 'city of music' Gwalior, witnessed a musical night on 25th December with more than 1500 tabla players performing in the 'Taal Darbar' at Gwalior fort simultaneously setting a Guinness World record.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia were also present at the event.
Expressing joy, Chief Minister Yadav announced that December 25 will be celebrated as 'Tabla Diwas'.
"This day is very special for us. To make this event memorable, December 25 would be celebrated as Tabla Divas. The history of music in India is considered to be more than 5000 years old. Music and Gwalior can never be separated," the CM said.
The record was established at the 'Taal Darbar' event during the 99th Tansen Samaroh, paying homage to the music maestro Tansen, who served as a musician in the court of Mughal emperor Akbar.

Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Gwalior made it to the list of the &lsquo;Music&rsquo; category, while Kerala&rsquo;s Kozhikode has earned its place in the list in the &lsquo;Literature&rsquo; category.&nbsp;
These cities were acknowledged for "their strong commitment to harnessing culture and creativity as part of their development strategies and displaying innovative practices in human-centred urban planning.&nbsp;
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network also welcomed several other cities, including Bukhara for Crafts and Folk Art, Casablanca for Media Arts, Kathmandu for Film, Rio de Janeiro for Literature, and Ulaanbaatar for Crafts and Folk Art, among a total of 55 cities on the list.
The cities in our Creative Cities Network are leading the way when it comes to enhancing access to culture and galvanizing the power of creativity for urban resilience and development," Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Director-General, was quoted as saying in the statement.

Doctors at the district hospital immediately operated on the girl and removed the phone from her stomach. The surgery took an hour.
Superintendent of Jaya Arogya Hospital, Dr RKS Dhadad said "The girl was brought to the hospital just in time for the doctors to intervene and save her life."
The girl is reportedly completely safe and healthy.

A dog of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer went missing from Bilua area in Gwalior district following which "missing posters" were pasted in the area and the police are engaged in a search for the last three days. The dog went missing on Friday (March 31).
According to the sources, two dogs of the IAS officer of the MP cadre posted in Delhi were being taken from Delhi to Bhopal. On Friday night, the staff carrying the dog by car stopped at a dhaba near Bilaua to have food. While the staff members were having food, both the dogs escaped from the car. After the search, the staff caught one dog but failed to find the other one.
After that, the staff informed the IAS officer in Delhi about the incident over the phone. After that the Gwalior police along with staff of the Gwalior zoo started searching for the dog. Missing posters have been also pasted on the surrounding Dhabas.
Dabra Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Vivek Sharma said, "Some people came to a dhaba in Bilua area when their dog escaped by jumping from their car. They were going from Delhi to Bhopal. A complaint has been registered and nearby restaurants and shops have been informed."
"Posters have also been put up at various places, in which it has also been announced to give appropriate rewards to the one who finds the dog," Sharma added.

After that, these students rushed back to the Ravishankar Hostel located inside the college," she said.Later, when the CSP reached the hostel along with his driver, they up beat the latter, threw away his mobile as well as the key of the official police vehicle into a nullah. They also deflated one of the tyres of the vehicle, she said."Following the incident, the CSP alerted the police control room and a team of its personnel reached the hostel. There, the police held talks with the dean and other officials of the college and it was decided that the accused students will hand over the mobile phone and keys to the police, but they failed to turn up till morning," she added.The police later took into custody four of the students.
