Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, has said that there is no shortage of oil in the world and, therefore, he expects prices to come down once global geopolitical issues are resolved.
Speaking to the media, the minister highlighted the fact that more oil production was coming online across the world. He said, "One thing is very clear, there is no shortage of oil in the world. Today, more and more oil is coming onto the market."
However, he also discussed the factors keeping crude oil prices elevated and said, "There are other factors, like geopolitical tensions. So, there is no shortage of oil, but if there is tension in one part of the world, then the freight cost, including insurance, will go up."
The Petroleum Minister also expressed hope that these issues would eventually settle and that oil prices would come down.
He said, "Today, let us all hope that better sense prevails, that the call for peace that our Prime Minister has been making from every forum... There is more than enough oil in the world, and prices should hopefully come down. That's my expectation".
During the last week, the Brent and WTI crude prices had dropped over 7%. However, on Monday both Brent and WTI gained almost 2% as fighting in the Middle East intensified. The crisis in the region has the market nervous about a potential disruption of oil supply.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday announced that around 1100 Rohingyas staying in tents will be shifted to EWS flats in Bakkarwal area of Delhi and provided with basic amenities.
Citing UN Refugee Convention, Puri tweeted, "India respects & follows UN  Refugee Convention 1951 & provides refuge to all, regardless of their race, religion or creed."
The announcement ensued a controversy with several right groups slamming the Cente for backtracking on its earlier claims that Rohingya Muslims were 'not refugees but illegal migrants.' 
Vishwa Hindu Parishad hit out at the Narendra Modi-led government for its move and asked it to reconsider the decision.
"Instead of providing the Rohingyas with housing, make arrangements to send them back and out of India," Alok Kumar, VHP Central working president told ANI.
Reacting sharply to the move, BJP's Tathagat Roy said Rohingya Muslims are illegal infiltratos not refugees under CAA.
"They are distinctly unwelcome even in Muslim-majority Bangladesh," he tweeted.
 Later, Union Home Ministry clarified that it has not given any directions to provide EWS flats to Rohingya illegal migrants at Bakkarwala in New Delhi.
"With respect to news reports in certain sections of media regarding Rohingya illegal foreigners, it is clarified that the MHA has not given any directions to provide EWS flats to Rohingya illegal migrants at Bakkarwala in New Delhi," an MHA spokesperson said.
The Ministry further said it has directed Delhi government to ensure that the Rohingya  illegal foreigners will  continue at the present location until their deportation as per law. 
On the proposed move by the Delhi government to shift the Rohingya Muslims to a new location, the MHA has directed the Delhi government to ensure that the Rohingya illegal foreigners remain at their present location as it has already taken up the matter of their deportation with the country concerned through the Ministry of External Affairs.
After their dwellings were gutted in fire twice in 2018 and 2021, Rohingya migrants have been living in tents provided by the Delhi government, The Indian Express reported.
The rehabilitation of Rohingya Muslims has been a controversial issue in India. BJP has often used the subject of 'illegal migration' to amass votes.
Rohingya, an ethnic group with a predominantly Muslim population hails from Western Myanmar province of Rakhine. They speak Bengali, not the commonly spoken Burmese language.
The United Nations has accused Myanmar of ethnic cleansing in Rakhine area. As a result of violence, about 5 lakh Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh, and approximately 40,000 moved to India.
Earlier, Union Home Ministry in Parliament stated that all Rohingyas in India were illegal immigrants and will be deported soon. In an advisory to state, the ministry said, "infiltration from Rakhine state of Myanmar into India poses security challenges."

Puri had tweeted on Wednesday morning, &lsquo;India has always welcomed those who have sought refuge in the country. In a landmark decision all #Rohingya #Refugees will be shifted to EWS flats in Bakkarwala area of Delhi. They will be provided basic amenities, UNHCR IDs &amp; round-the-clock @DelhiPolice protection.'
In a second tweet, the union minister for Housing, Urban Affairs shared a news report stating the same.&nbsp;
The tweets led to AAP hitting out at the Modi govt which has maintained that Rohingya refugees are a threat to the nation and accusing it going back on its stand. The party said that it would not let the govt allocate any flats to the Rohingyas citing security threat.&nbsp;
The controversy led to the Home Ministry issuing a clarification that it had not given any directions to provide flats to Rohingya Muslims in Delhi and asked the Arvind Kejriwal government to ensure the illegal foreigners remained at their present location.
'With respect to news reports in certain sections of media regarding Rohingya illegal foreigners, it is clarified that the MHA has not given any directions to provide EWS flats to Rohingya illegal migrants at Bakkarwala in New Delhi,' according to a ministry statement.&nbsp;
'The illegal foreigners are to be kept in the detention centre till their deportation as per law. The government of Delhi has not declared the present location as a detention centre. They have been directed to do the same immediately,' the statement further read.
The Home Ministry in its statement also said that it was the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/delhi-govt-defers-relaxations-in-driving-test-here-s-why-1660018636624">Govt of Delhi </a>that had proposed shifting of Rohingya refugees to a new location.

In a press conference held by <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/union-minister-gadkari-dropped-from-bjp-s-parliamentary-board-1660725483158">BJP</a>, its spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said the decision to shift Rohingyas was taken at meeting held on July 29 that was chaired by the Chief Secretary of Delhi.&nbsp;
&nbsp;He added "the law of our country says that Rohingyas will be deported and this jurisdiction lies with the Ministry of Home Affairs." The Modi government has a clear policy that there will be no compromise on national security, he said.

Sixteen out of 78 Afghanistan evacuees who reached India on Tuesday have tested positive for Covid-19.
Reports said that the infected evacuees also include the three Sikhs who brought back with them copies of Guru Granth Sahib from several Afghanistan Gurudwaras.
All 16 returnees are said to be asymptomatic, but as a precaution all 78 have been quarantined.

Puri had received the copies of the Sikh holy book from the Afghan granthis and had carried one on his head out of the airport.

India’s 1st Private Jet Terminal Launched

The first General Aviation Terminal of India was inaugurated on September 17, 2020 at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, Delhi by the Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri. &nbsp;&ldquo;A general aviation terminal was the need of the hour at Delhi Airport, and this will be a significant boost to General Aviation. The terminal will help ease passenger movement, and contribute to the growth of civil aviation sector in the country,&rdquo; said the minister. This is the first fully integrated terminal for smaller aircraft and has been set up by Bird ExecuJet Airport Services (BEAS) Private Limited. BEAS is a joint venture between Bird Group and ExecuJet MRO Services. The terminal has a common lounge, two private lounges, one crew lounge, and other utilities. The facility has 57 aircraft parking bays, two aircraft hangars and two fixed-base operators (FBOs). The terminal can cater to 150 private movements daily and handle over 50 passengers every hour.

The revenue of airport operators has reduced from ₹5,745 crore during April-June 2019 to ₹894 crore during April-June 2020, he said.
Scheduled domestic flight services were suspended in India from March 25 to May 24 due to the&nbsp;coronavirus-triggered lockdown.
