The SIT recorded 119 statements and submitted a report on Tuesday stating that the committee that organised the 'satsang' was responsible for inviting more people than permitted.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the stampede in Hathras recommended action against six officials for negligence in performing their duties, following which they have been suspended from their services.
The local SDM, CO, Tehsildar, Inspector, and Chowki in charge have been held responsible for negligence in performing their duties.
The suspended officials include Sub- the District Magistrate of Sikandrarao, the Police Circle Officer of Sikandrarao, the Station Officer of Sikandrarao, the Tehsildar of Sikandrarao, Chowki Incharge of Kachora, and Chowki Incharge of Pora.
The investigation committee also found the program organizer and tehsil-level police and administration guilty.
The SIT probing the stampede mishap recorded 119 statements and submitted a report on Tuesday stating that the committee that organized the 'Satsang' was responsible for inviting more people than permitted.
The program was not taken seriously by the said officials, and senior officials were not even informed, following which the SIT recommended action against the concerned officials.
As per the report, the Sub-district Magistrate of Sikandrarao granted permission for the event without inspecting the venue and did not inform senior officials.

Four days after 121 people were killed in stampede at a religious gathering in UP's Hathras, Bhole Baba, the former constable-turned-self-styled godman, has said that he was 'deeply saddened' by the incident.
In a video statement released by ANI on Saturday,&nbsp; Surajpal also known as 'Bhole Baba' says, "I am deeply saddened after the incident of July 2. May God give us the strength to bear this pain. Please keep faith in the government and the administration. I have faith that anyone who created the chaos would not be spared. Through my lawyer AP Singh, I have requested the members of the committee to stand with the bereaved families and the injured and help them throughout their lives."

Agencies, including the police, are looking for preacher Bhole Baba for questioning in the case.
The main accused in the FIR Devprakash Madhukar has been arrested as per a PTI report.

The religious event in Hathras where at least 100 people lost their lives in a stampede was organised by self-styled guru Narayan Saakar Hari, who also goes by the name Bhole Baba.
While little is known about the preacher, Narayan Saakar Hari boasts of a sizeable following across north Indian states like UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan, among others.
The self-proclaimed guru, along with his wife, often conducts such 'satsangs', which are referred to as 'Manav Mangal Milan Sadbhavna Samagam.'
Hari's foray into spirituality began after he reportedly quit his regular job in the 1990s. It is claimed that he used to work in the Intelligence Bureau. But, there are no proofs to verify the authenticity of this claim.
Hari was born in Bahadur Nagari village in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district and completed his initial studies there.&nbsp;
Though the so-called guru doesn't have any social media presence, Hari shot into the limelight for his large congregations during the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp;
India TV, in a report, citing sources, reported that he has several criminal cases registered against him.
Unlike other preachers. hari often prefers to be in a white suit and tie. He was also seen in kurta-pyjama. During his sermons, he says that he does not keep any amount from the donations that are given to him and spends it all on his devotees.&nbsp;

Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan was released from a Lucknow jail on 2 February 2023 after two years of incarceration. His release order was signed more than a month after he secured bail, as per reports.
He secured bail from the Allahabad High Court in an alleged money laundering case on 23 December 2022. The Supreme Court had granted him bail on 9 September 2022 in a UAPA case.
Kappan was arrested in October 2020 while on his way to cover the alleged gangrape and murder of a Dalit woman in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. Police had reportedly accused him and 3 others of being members of the Popular Front of India (PFI), and planning to disturb law and order in the area.
