Taking care of your ears during the monsoon season is important to prevent infections and maintain good ear health. While speaking with us, Dr Sanjay Sachdeva senior ENT consultant at HearClear India provided some important tips that one must follow during the rainy season. &nbsp;
<h3>Senior ENT consultant shares insights on keeping your ears safe during the monsoon</h3>
The doctor said that humidity and moisture during the monsoon can increase the risk of fungal and bacterial infections in the ears. After getting wet in the rain or showering, it's important to dry your ears thoroughly using a soft towel. "If you experience pain, itching, discharge, or reduced hearing in your ears during or after the monsoon season, consult an ENT specialist promptly. Early detection and treatment can prevent complications." he said.
The doctor also mentioned proper precautions you must take if you are stepping out in the rain. He said that proper water proof clothing is important to avoid water from entering the ears. One must consider wearing earplugs or a waterproof hat with ear flaps to protect your ears from getting wet.
Dr Sachdeva cautioned people against putting anything inside their ears. According to him people have the bad habit of inserting things like fingers, pencisl etc. into their ears which can harm the ear skin and tissues. So, it's advisable to avoid using cotton swabs or any other objects to clean inside your ears. This can push wax deeper into the ear canal or cause damage to the delicate skin inside.

<li>Avoid swimming in ponds, lakes, or other bodies of water that may be contaminated during the monsoon season. Dirty water can introduce bacteria or fungi into the ears, leading to infections.</li>
<li>If you know you'll be in heavy rain or exposed to water for an extended period, consider wearing earplugs or a waterproof hat with ear flaps to protect your ears from getting wet.</li>
<li>Keep your hands clean and avoid touching your ears unnecessarily. Dirty hands can transfer bacteria and increase the risk of infections.</li>

Dr Vivek Kumar Pathak said that we must not insert objects into our ears, including fingers, cotton swabs, or other tools, as this can damage the ear canal or eardrum. He also added that your ears should always be dry and clean, especially after swimming or showering.
The doctor also said that we must not use random ear drops. Ear drops only prescribed by a doctor or an expert should be used. Thirdly, Dr Pathak reiterated the fact use of headphones for prolonged hours are causing alot of health issues.
So, he advised to not use earphones, headphone or ear pods for listening to loud music and for long hours. He recommended if someone uses it, the volume has to be low.
<h3>Dr Vivek Kumar Pathak shares 2 points one must remember while swimming</h3>
During summers people enjoy simming and other water sports. The doctor advised that if someone goes for swimming it's important to make sure that water does not enter the ears. According to him one must use earplugs while swimming or any other water activity.
Dr Pathak also said that one must assure that the swimming pool is clean and well disinfected.
<h3>Healthy lifestyle one must adapt to take care of ears</h3>
1. Proper hydration helps maintain good blood flow to the ears.
2. Eat a diet rich in vitamins and minerals that support ear health, including vitamins A, C, E, and magnesium.
3. Regular physical activity improves blood circulation, including to the ears.
4. Have your hearing tested regularly, especially if you are exposed to loud noises frequently or notice hearing loss.
5. Avoid smoking and exposure to passive smoke, which can contribute to ear infections.

From noise canceling ear pods to fancy head phones, urban youngsters possess them all. Whether at home or while traveling they always have them plugged in, without knowing the adverse effects that these gadgets might cause to their ears. &nbsp;
According to World Health Organization (WHO) over 430 million people across the globe are currently facing hearing loss. And a recent study says that over one billion people across the world might be at a risk of hearing loss due to loud music played at events or from personal music gadgets. The result of the study was published in the journal BMJ Global Health where the team found out that around 24% of 12 to 34 year olds listen to loud music. &nbsp;
Their analysis of previous studies have also found out that 23% of adults and 27% of minors are regularly exposed to excessive noise. Hence, they have urged implementation of policy on safe listening habits worldwide to promote hearing loss prevention.&nbsp;

The emotion of music: 'Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo' performed for hearing impaired 

The emotions conveyed by Fayyaz Hashmi’s ‘Aaj Jaane Ki Zidd Na Karo’ are universal. They fall beyond the purview of language, and that’s exactly what this cover of the song is showing us.  

The Ghazal made famous by the legendary Farida Khanum, has been presented by singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah in Indian Sign Language for the hearing impaired. This is among the first times that the song has been presented in such a manner.  


Before this too Abhishruti has ventured down unchartered paths with songs on the lives of transgender persons, along with working on films such as Highway, Viceroy’s House and The Second Best Exotic Marigold hotel.  


In order to perform this special version of the Ghazal, she also underwent training for Indian Sign Language.
