Sarma was seen grooving to the tunes of the song and enthusiastically clapping. People were also dancing in the crowd.&nbsp;
Earlier, on April 6, he campaigned across Jorhat constituency. He ended his meetings by dancing to the BJP's theme song 'Akou ebar Modi sorkar' (Modi's government, once more), inviting enthusiastic participation from the audience.
Be it at the end of the rally in Sivsagar or in Mariani, the CM sang and danced, while urging the public to join, who readily obliged and joined their leader from the stands.
Accompanied by clapping and occasional jumps with fists in the air, Sarma's trademark moves added energy to his campaign.
In his speeches, Sarma outlined the various welfare measures of the BJP-led governments both at the Centre and the state, and exhorted the public to vote for Modi for a third successive term.
Sharing a video of his lively campaign dance on X on Friday with the public joining him from the stands, he wrote: "We are #ModiKaParivaar. Of course we sing and dance in our rallies." Sarma's dance moves had garnered much attention during the 2019 parliamentary elections, when he had swung along the tunes of 'Akou ebar Modi Sorkar' and other BJP campaign songs on dais and during roadshows.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma came to the defence of BJP's Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut who had claimed that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was the first prime minister of the country.
On social media X, Sarma said Netaji had established the Azad Hind government four years before Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had become the Prime Minister and that it was recognised by nine countries.
'To those mocking @KanganaTeam - On 21 October 1943, Netaji established the Azad Hind Govt, of which he was the head, nearly 4 years before Pt Nehru took oath as Prime Minister following transfer of power'', the Chief Minister posted on 'X'.
''Nine countries recognised the Azad Hind Govt as the legitimate Government of India. This subconscious urge to interpret history on the lines of colonialists is called 'Ghulami ki Mansikta'", he added.
Sarma's reaction came after a video of the actor-turned-politician asserting that Bhose was the first prime minister of India and not Nehru.&nbsp;
"Let me clear this first. When we gained independence, where did the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, go?" When the interviewer tried to correct her, Kangana insisted, "No, please clarify this today. Where did he go?"

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that he will share the name and address of the 'body double' purportedly used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in the state.
Sarma had brought up the allegation of the Congress MP using a 'body double' during the Yatra at a press conference on Thursday, during which he quoted a media report claiming that the person sitting and waving at people from the Yatra bus was &ldquo;probably not Rahul Gandhi at all&rdquo;.
"I don't just say things. The duplicate's name, and how it was done - I will share all details. Just wait for a few days," the chief minister said in Sonitpur district on the sidelines of a programme, when asked by reporters about the allegation against Gandhi.
"I will be in Dibrugarh tomorrow, and the next day also I will be out of Guwahati. Once I am back in Guwahati, I will give name and address of the duplicate," the BJP leader said.
The Manipur-Maharashtra Nyay Yatra, being led by Gandhi, had travelled through Assam from January 18 to 25, during which the Congress MP had alleged that Sarma is the 'most corrupt CM of India'.
The opposition party also alleged denial or problems in route permissions through the state by the BJP-led government. The situation reached a flashpoint when Congress leaders and workers broke police barricades erected to prevent them from entering the main city limits of Guwahati.
An FIR was registered against Gandhi and others over the incident, with Sarma later stating that they would be arrested after the Lok Sabha polls as he did not want to 'politicise' the issue prior to the elections.
Sarma maintained that the Congress will need all the Gandhis - Sonia, Priyanka and Rahul - to defeat him in the state.
"Let them bring Priyanka Gandhi's son also," he said.
"They have already put up their hands (in surrender). They couldn't do it through Rahul, so they will now get Priyanka and then Sonia," Sarma said, referring to the Congress' proposed programme in the state involving Priyanka Gandhi.
On BJP and its allies' Lok Sabha poll prospects in the state, the CM said, "We have 11-and-a-half assured seats. We are working on how to convert it into 12. We are not bothered about any Congress list (of candidates)." The state sends 14 members to the Lok Sabha, of which nine are currently held by the BJP, three by Congress, one by AIUDF and one Independent.&nbsp;

Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took a swipe at Rahul Gandhi when asked why the Congress leader was not allowed to enter a temple in the state. Talking to reporters on January 22, the BJP leader equated Rahul to Ravan and said that it would be better to talk about Ram on this auspicious occasion.
"Why are you talking of Ravan? At least talk about Ram today? After 500 years, today is a good day to talk about Ram. Today at least let us not talk of Ravan," he said.
The Gandhi scion was earlier stopped from entering the &nbsp;Sri Sri Sankardeva Satra in Nagaon district and also from holding a meeting in the Morigaon district during his Bharat Jodo Nayay Yatra, which is currently passing through Assam.
"Will PM Modi now decide who will visit a temple and when?... We do not want to create any problems and simply pray at the temple," Gandhi told the police authorities and questioned why he was being stopped from visiting the Satra, reports PTI news agency.
Later, party MP Gaurav Gogoi and &nbsp;Batadrava MLA Sibamoni Bora proceeded to offer prayers, prompting Gandhi to attack the state government, saying: "This is strange as there is a law and order situation in the area but Gaurav Gogoi and all can go. Only Rahul Gandhi cannot go." The Congress alleged that Prime Minister Modi exerted pressure on the Assam government to prevent Gandhi from visiting the birthplace of the iconic saint and paying his obeisance.
Congress earlier claimed that its convoy had been attacked twice in the state.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said his government will gradually impose "population norms" on beneficiaries wishing to avail specific welfare schemes.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a new entrepreneurship scheme for women with a few conditions. Women from the general category who wish to avail benefits cannot have more than three children, while women from the SC and ST categories cannot have more than four.
Announcing the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan on January 12, the CM said his government would gradually impose "population norms" on beneficiaries wishing to avail specific welfare schemes.
He said the aim is to control the state's population growth
"All our welfare schemes will be linked to population control measures for the benefit of our mothers and sisters", he said.
Speaking about the 'Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan' scheme, &nbsp;he said each eligible woman will be provided with Rs 35,000 over three years in their endeavour to become 'lakhpati baidos'.
The beneficiaries of the scheme will, however, have to fulfil certain socio-economic criteria, he said.
These criteria include that women belonging to the general and OBC categories should not have more than three children, while those in the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes should not have more than four children, Sarma said.
The SHG member, having a girl child or children, should enrol them in school, if they have attained the age and if they are younger, an undertaking must be given for the same, he said.
Another condition for eligibility to the scheme is that the trees planted under the Amrit Brikshya Andolan by beneficiaries must be surviving, he said.
The application forms will be available at the nearest panchayat office free of cost on a specified date for particular districts and no photostat will be accepted.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is facing flak for a casteist remark on social media which read that serving the Brahmins, Ksatriyas and Vaishyas is the natural duty of the Shudras.
Several political leaders slammed Sarma for the post on X, including AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owais who said that Hindutva is antithetical to liberty, equality, fraternity and justice.
"Holding a constitutional position, your oath is to treat every citizen equally. It&rsquo;s reflected in the unfortunate cruelty that Assam&rsquo;s Muslims have faced in the past few years. Hindutva is antithetical to Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and Justice," wrote Owaisi on X.
Under fire, the Assam CM issued an apology and deleted the controversial post. He said that one of his team members had posted the sloka from Bhagvad Gita with an incorrect translation.
"As a routine I upload one sloka of Bhagavad Gita every morning on my social media handles. Till date, I have posted 668 slokas. Recently one of my team members posted a sloka from Chapter 18 verse 44 with an incorrect translation. As soon as I noticed the mistake, I promptly deleted the post. The state of Assam reflects a perfect picture of a casteless society, thanks to the reform movement led by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardeva. If the deleted post has offended anyone, I sincerely apologize," Sarma wrote on X.

Sarma was responding to a query by reporters on DMK MP, DNV Senthil Kumar's controversial comment in Parliament on Tuesday in which he used a pejorative to describe Hindi heartland states while attacking the ruling BJP.
The comment drew instant condemnation from the BJP as well as DMK's ally the Congress and he apologised for his remarks.
Speaker Om Birla expunged the remarks.
"My only request to him (Kumar) is that in future state that it is as Gau Mata country and not Gau Mutra country. What is the problem in that? Calling ourselves a Gau Mata country is a matter of pride," Sarma said at a press conference.

In an obvious reference to the apology by Senthil Kumar, the Assam chief minister said "We (BJP) have won (the recent election in the states), so we should be graceful enough. We have to win in the future too.
"We have to work for the society and country in the next three months so that (Narendra) Modi Ji becomes the Prime Minister with 350-400 seats," he said alluding to the 2024 Lok Sabha poll.

The Election Commission on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma for his remarks targeting Chhattisgarh minister Mohammad Akbar during the assembly poll campaign last week.
The commission has asked Sarma to respond to the notice by 5 pm on October 30.
The EC action came a day after the Congress filed a complaint with it against Sarma.
In a speech in Kawardha in Chhattisgarh on October 18, Sarma had taken a controversial dig at Akbar saying that "the land of Mata Kaushalya will get defiled if Akbar isn't sent off." "If one Akbar comes to some place, he calls 100 Akbars. So, send him off as soon as possible, otherwise the land of Mata Kaushalya will get defiled," he said.
Mata Kaushalya, the mother of Lord Ram, is believed to hail from what is modern day Chhattisgarh.

Congress has filed a hate speech case against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma over his recent remarks targeting Sonia Gandhi during a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Vaishali district.
According to Congress leader Debabrata Saikia, Sarma said that if Congress leader Kamal Nath is a Hanuman bhakt, he should set 10 Janpath on fire like Hanuman set Lanka ablaze.
10 Janpath is the residence of Sonia Gandhi.
Saikia said that through his remarks, Sarma has given a clarion call towards riots and arson.
&ldquo;By suggesting that the residence of a 77-year-old lady be burnt down, Sarma is not just attacking a prominent face of the Opposition, but he is giving a clarion call towards arson. Such wanton statements coming from a Constitutional authority has the potential of causing misguided persons to resort to violence and potentially cause harm to the residents of 10, Janpath," the complaint said.

Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has alleged that a company of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife received ₹10 crore as part of a credit-linked subsidy.
In a tweet, Gogoi said, "PM Modi launched the Kisan sampada scheme to double the income of the farmers of India. But in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma used his influence to help his wife's firm get ₹10 crore as part of a credit-linked subsidy. Are Central government schemes meant to enrich BJP?"
He also shared a document from from the Ministry of Food Processing website which showed Sarma's wife Riniki Bhuyan Sharma's Pride East Entertainment Private Limited as one of the agro-processing cluster projects under the APC Scheme.
Sarma denied the allegations saying, "I would like to clarify that neither my wife nor the company she is associated with has ever received any financial subsidies from the Government of India."
Following this, Gogoi told Sarma that he should inform the Union Minister if their website has been hacked.
"The Ministry of Food Processing website clearly shows the name of the person and the company she is associated with. The ₹10 crore government grant has also been approved. Please report to the Union Minister if their website has been hacked," Gogoi tweeted.
"For the convenience of the Hon&rsquo;ble Chief Minister, I am attaching the link to the website of the Ministry of Food Processing. It shows the list of companies and promoters who have received the ₹10 crore government subsidy. Please see serial 10," Gogoi added.

Reacting to a social media post speculating if Assam police will go to arrest former US president Barack Obama over his remarks on the alleged vulnerability of minorities in India, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday claimed that there are many &ldquo;Hussain Obama in India&rdquo; and his priority will be in dealing with them.
He said that Assam police will act according to its own priorities.
"There are many Hussain Obama in India itself. We should prioritize taking care of them before considering going to Washington. The Assam police will act according to our own priorities," the BJP leader wrote on Twitter, sharing a post by a prominent journalist.
The tweet had asked if the Assam police will go to the US to apprehend the former US president.
"Has an FIR been filed in Guwahati yet against Obama for hurting sentiment? Is Assam police on its way to Washington to get Obama offloaded from some flight and arrest him?" the journalist wrote.
The tweet was apparently referring to FIRs being lodged in Assam against opposition leaders over their remarks in different parts of the country.
Assam police had travelled to different locations and even made arrests, including deplaning and apprehending Congress leader Pawan Khera in February and arresting then-Independent Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani last year.
Obama in an interview to CNN on Thursday had said that India may &ldquo;pull apart&rdquo; if the rights of the religious and ethnic minorities are not upheld.

He added that Congress has a problem whenever BJP speaks about building Ram Mandir.

'Why do you (Congress) speak up for Babri Masjid and not Ram Mandir?' Sarma questioned.&nbsp;

He added that the Assam Police now replies to a bullet with a bullet and that is one of the reasons why crime rate in the state has decreased.

Weeks after Assam police claimed to have shot dead a dacoit named Kenaram, an inquiry has reportedly found that it was a case of "mistaken identity".
A CID probe found that the deceased was not Kenaram, but a person named Dimbeswar, who was a "small farmer" according to his family.
The encounter took place on 24 February 2023, and police claimed that 2 cops were also injured in the shootout.
The dead body was initially handed over to Kenaram's family, but after the funeral, Dimbeswar's family raised objections. Amid the furore, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma ordered a CID probe which began on 2 March.

At least 78 women have also been arrested as part of the state government&rsquo;s crackdown, The Indian Express reported. According to police officials, the women were arrested for 'facilitating' child marriages.&nbsp;
