In the exercise of the powers conferred by the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the JKGF has been designated as a terror group, the notification stated.

The Centre on Friday banned the Jammu and Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF), which has been formed with cadres from terrorist organisations such as the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, the JKGF has been involved in infiltration bids, narcotics and weapon smuggling, carrying out terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, and regularly issuing threats to security forces.
The outfit has also been using various social media platforms to incite the people of Jammu and Kashmir to join terrorist outfits against India.

The Union Home Ministry has given its consent to change the names of two places in Uttar Pradesh following recommendations from the state government, officials said on Tuesday.
The 'no-objection' certificates were issued by the ministry for changing the name of municipal council 'Mundera Baazar' in Gorakhpur district to 'Chauri-Chaura' and that of 'Telia Afghan' village in Deoria district to 'Telia Shukla', an official said.
The home ministry considers proposals for name change according to the existing guidelines, in consultations with agencies concerned.
It gives a 'no-objection' certificate to change the name of any place after taking consent from the Ministry of Railways, Department of Posts and the Survey of India, another official said.
For changing the name of a village, town or a city, an executive order is needed.

On April 30, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea challenging the legal validity of Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that deals with the offence of sedition.

Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai&nbsp;replied in the Lok&nbsp;Sabha&nbsp;that the govt had taken all necessary measures to ensure that during the period of the inevitable lockdown, no citizen should be deprived of basic amenities.He also said Centre had&nbsp;allowed the state governments to use the State Disaster Response Fund on 28th March itself for providing temporary accommodation, food, clothing, medical care to homeless people.&nbsp;

223 under detention in J&K, none under house arrest: Govt in LS

The government has told the Parliament that till&nbsp;September 11,&nbsp;223 people are under detention and not a single&nbsp;person is under house arrest in the Union territory of Jammu&nbsp;and Kashmir.

Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy said the government of Jammu and Kashmir has reported, that after the abrogation of Article 370 in August last year various measures were taken to maintain public order which included preventive detention of certain persons.&nbsp;
In a written reply to a question in the Lok&nbsp;Sabha, Reddy&nbsp;said, as on September 11, 223 people are under detention and not a single&nbsp;person is under house arrest in the Union territory.
Reddy also said after the bifurcation of the erstwhile state, the number of terrorist incidents have reduced significantly.&nbsp;The home ministry said as many as 176 infiltration attempts were made by terrorists between August 2019 and July 2020. Around 111 infiltration attempts were successful.
