Staying at luxury hotels is an experience like no other. Be it the ultra-soft beds or the on-point room service, 4-star and 5-star hotels give service like no other. However, many guests end up taking advantage of the services provided and stealing luxury items and products from the hotels they visit. A recent survey has revealed the top items that are frequently stolen, and the list will surely surprise you!
What are the most common items stolen?
According to a survey, guests are more likely to steal from a 5-star hotel than a 4-star hotel. While the research shows that guests even steal mattresses and TV sets, the most common item stolen from hotels is towels. A whopping 79.29 per cent of hotel owners revealed that guests most often take home towels, while 66.4 per cent of guests take home bathrobes. The next item that is most stolen from deluxe hotels is hangers.&nbsp;
Guests also love to take home pens and 36.5 per cent of the guests cannot resist packing some free cosmetics available at the hotels. Other items that came up in the survey were light bulbs, TV Sets, hair dryers and even mini fridges!
11.4 per cent of people cannot help but steal coffee machines to get that perfect cup of cappuccino. 6.6 per cent of hotel guests have even ended up stealing mattresses!

Hotel occupancy rates across the country experienced a marginal decline in June, albeit showing significant year-on-year growth. Despite remaining above pre-pandemic levels, most major markets observed a 1-3% decrease in average rates compared to May.
The closing quarter of June marked a robust surge in rates compared to the same period in 2022, bolstering revenue per available room, despite a minor downturn in occupancy. According to a report by leading hospitality consultancy HVS, the ongoing year saw the addition of 5,900 new hotel rooms across 84 properties, with an additional 12,500 rooms contracted for approximately 142 hotels.
The average daily rate for hotel rooms in India witnessed a robust year-on-year escalation of 16-18% in the three months leading up to June.
In a year-over-year comparison of June 2023 with figures from 2022, the data indicates an increase of 13-15%, as reported by the hospitality consultancy under the Anarock umbrella. The average daily rate figures demonstrated a remarkable 23-25% surge compared to June 2019, ultimately settling between ₹6,600 and ₹6,800 in contrast to the figures from that year.
For the month, prominent growth in room occupancy was observed in major metropolitan cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Kochi, showing a rise of up to 5%. However, there was a notable decline of 5-10% in cities like Pune, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh, while Goa and Hyderabad markets experienced a milder contraction of up to 5%.

Demand for hotels is up by 17 per cent and now at par with the pre-COVID level

As the year-end festivities and Christmas Holidays are around the corner, demand for homestays and 3-star hotels have surged and contributed to almost 60% of the searches for hotels for the upcoming holiday season.&nbsp;
According to the latest Justdial Consumer Insights report, Demand for Home Stays saw a meteoric 135 per cent jump, and that for 3-star hotels rose by 18 per cent, while that for others remained stable.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Among Tier-I cities, demand for homestays remained the highest in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi.
While searches for Hotels soared, searches for Bars, Fast Food, Food Delivery, and Dhabas made up for the top-5 most searched services during this holiday and party season. Hotels dominated with 27 per cent of the overall searches followed by Bars (23 per cent), Fast Food (18 per cent), Food Delivery (17 per cent), and Dhabas (14 per cent).

The big fat Indian weddings are back and it seem like a good news for the hospitality industry.
Hoteliers across India are looking at the wedding season with great hope as the demand is expected to surpass pre-Covid levels in the wedding season spanning from October end till March 2022. According to the Federation of Hotel &amp; Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), in late 2021, booking cancellations for Christmas and New Year celebrations including weddings and planned events due to the surge in Covid cases had caused a loss of Rs 200 crore to the hospitality industry. But this year, hotel chain, Wyndham has already clocked 100 per cent bookings on wedding dates in various Indian cities, like Chandigarh, Kochi, Dehradun, Mussoorie, Kasauli, Jalandhar, Lucknow, Udaipur and Jaipur. And Royal Orchid and Regenta Hotels present in Goa, Mussoorie, Ranthambore, and Hampi too admitted to improved demand for hotels in the wedding season according to the Economic Times report.

With the country recording over 2 lakh cases in the last 24 hours,&nbsp;Delhi&nbsp;and Mumbai have converted hotels and banquet halls into Covid units to treat less critical patients.
In Mumbai, hospitals have decided to use luxury hotels to treat Covid-19 patients with milder infection. Private hospitals will tie up with four star or five star hotels to accommodate more patients. However, doctors will have to approve such transfers.
These hotel will act as extensions of major private hospitals, according to the BMC&nbsp;and&nbsp;will need a minimum of 20 rooms for Covid cases. They will have round-the-clock medical services including doctor consultations, nurses, medicines and ambulance transfer. The hospitals can charge up to ₹4,000 for these facilities and ₹6,000 for a room if anyone is staying with the patient.
In Delhi, the state government also issued orders to attach hotels and banquet halls with private and government hospitals, to add more beds for Covid patients. So far,&nbsp;five Delhi government hospitals have been attached with banquet halls.&nbsp;
